@@AJnzxv1nah its the fact that he's the quarterback of his own football team. If he could choose a guy for julie to date it wouldn't be a football player let alone one he was coaching. Thats a crazy coincidence and tbh coach handled it as well as you possibly could considering what high school footballers talk about in the locker room. Coach wasnt overprotective he just got put in a horrible situation.
Usually, its always Coach that gets advice from Tami, but in this case, when Tami is about to talk to Julie and coach says "Before you go in there, and talk to her, you better know what you're gonna say". One of Coach Taylor's best moments I think that wasn't a football moment but as a dad.
Coach was so funny with poor Matt. From when he accidentally told Matt to get Julie in the back of a car and feel her up, to all interactions when they were dating, to Coach literally looking around for the “You’ve been Punk’d” crowd to jump out when Matt asks for his hand to marry Julie. Matt was the most beautiful soul throughout this show, with Riggins pretty close behind. Both good kids with bad circumstances. I dust this show off now and again and binge it. Such a beautiful feel-good show and many positive lessons woven in.
I completely agree and still watch the show from time to time as well. I’m a highschool graduate as of 5 days ago and Coach Taylor, Matt, Jason Street, and many more characters inspire me to become a better man
@@parkerfigueroa6682 Same. The show is really heartfelt and says a lot about kids, adults, the town, community, and growing up. It’s so much more than just football (but I still love the football).
Really awkward but at least he didn't get there earlier while they were still going at it. It would break Coach's heart to see one of his players getting pegged like that.
The fact that Coach Taylor basically looks at Matt (like most of his players) as the son he never had has to make his entire relationship with Julie all the more awkward to swallow lol 😂😬
His performance as a dad wasn't acting, these were those reflexes, anger, care, consciousness, that every father would do to save his new teen girl from the world whether she is involed in all that stuff or not. But still Kyle's (coach) performance is worth seeing in every aspect. ❤
Eric’s response was a testament to how he felt about Matt. He wasn’t going to tell Matt never to touch Julie again because he knew that would be unrealistic but also he knew if it was going to be anybody better it be Matt. Now when she slept w/the married teacher… that’s when he almost went crazy.
What is absolutely amazing about this show is that they used a scriptment which means that it was mainly improvised and the cameramen learned how to move with the actors. They were given the gist of the scene and maybe a few lines, but that was it, and it was a testament to the actors and the creators of the show to take those risks and chances.
I liked that neither of her parents over reacted, this show often likes to up the drama, so much so that it comes off feeling fake. It was true to their characters and they handled it exactly how I imagined they would.
Coach was probably thinking, “Man you do not want to talk to me about what your daughter is doing with Riggins. I caught my daughter in BED with my Quarterback.”
“What were they doing?” “Honey, they were in bed together… what do you think they were doing playing scrabble?” I added the last part because I am pretty sure that’s what Coach was thinking. 😂😂
The "you better know what youre going to say" is really good parenting advice. I keep it in my mind when i have to speak to my own teenager about important things
Watch it again, like I did. I had good memories of it and just rewatched the entire series. So many aspects of it ring so false that it is off of my favorite series list.
"Coach is out back if you want to go wait out there. He's been digging with a shovel for a couple of hours now, not sure what that's about, but he said something about seven heaven."
This is one of my favourite scenes from the series. I don't exactly know why but I do kinda feel a bit sorry for Coach Taylor, he just walked in on his little princess in bed with one of his football players. In saying that I wonder would it have been worse if either Matt's Grandma, Tami or Gracie walked in on them especially if it was during a certain activity. But could u imagine what Coach would've been like if Matt knocked Julie up?
@@johnstjohn1987 naw it wasn't behind his back, matt had dinner at the taylor home a few episodes prior to finding them in bed, coach had to know what was going on.
And also with the patience he carried this daughter's deed within himself the whole time and didn't talked to his wife or created any scene in the car or at home till the right time. Confusion, angriness, silence, and hopelessness could be seen when he was sitting on the bed and was about to tell his wife their scene. And The way he said that you should know what you have to talk to her shows that he is a forthseeing father and the anger in his eyes at the end was worth seeing.
If I remember correctly, Tim was actually pretty respectful of her. He protected her at the party, took her home when she got drunk, and held her during that tornado. Never tried to do anything else with her as far as I remember.
It cuts from the Taylor’s talking about a serious family matter to Buddy Garrity complaining to Eric about all of his issues. I love this fucking show.😅
While you can see he was mad about him sleeping with his daughter, i think he was okay with matt due to him being such a good guy and that he wasnt some loser guy.

After he talked to Buddy, I think Coach was happy his daughter was with Sarasin and not Riggins. Matt Sarasin was a solid guy.
Coach was probably thinking, “Man you do not want to talk to me about what your daughter is doing with Riggins. I caught my daughter in BED with my Quarterback.”
the camera shots in the serie are what makes it authentic, top notch cinematography
Coach unlocking the car door with authority is such a real and amazing moment
The fact that he didn't say anything and just walked out was probably worse then him yelling at Matt. He knew he really upset his coach.
