I just bought a Type 1 last week, got me some 1937’s, and they arrived today. They are both made in Japan. 3015 stamped on the buttons and says “made in Japan” on the tag. Seems all new LVC are made in Japan now!
Man, I gotta tell you that I'm very impressed, not only of your vast knowledge but also analysis. I've learned today when I had no expectations whatsoever, nevertheless you have to improve your editing and camera! go for 4k or something, there's a dismatch between the quality of your content and the quality of your video. You have one more subscriber, you deserve way more than what you currently have. Cheers and thanks!
I had some 1937 Lvc from circa 2002/3 called California sunrise. They had oil stains and light distressing, seems like there’s little info on that finishing. USA made.
Hey there, I hope this doesn’t sound like a stupid question, are lighter weight denim such as the 1937’s less durable than for example the 1955’s? Also what would you say is the best year out of all the jeans in the LVC line for really big thighs (I’m a dude, 5ft4 and rather chubby.. lol)? I love the design of the 1937 would love to get a few pairs but abit unsure, your feedback would be appreciated a lot
i just bought a pair of rigged LVC 37s. i was surprise hat my pair had arcuate made in same tobacco tread as the side stitch while the contrast stitch is only on the top. seems some pairs are done with contrasting and some with tobacco arcuate. i wonder is that a mistake or deliberate move to emulate experience of how they came up in period. is there mail i could contact Levis that could answer me this question.
Does anyone know how much these shrink if rinsed in the tub, like if I just left them in warm water for 30-40 minutes? I’m a true 33-34” in the waist so wondering if I need to go 36” in rigid for them to fit straight all the way through.
Rigid will lose two sizes. You want your waist to stop the extra shrinkage. But if you buy 36 and machine wash you get 33.5. I have a video on tub soaking and I’m finishing my machine wash video.
@@denindenim I feel like there are so many completely contradictory arguments out there regarding how much the rigid LVC 501’s will actually shrink if you soak them in warm water in the tub for 30 min (not wearing them). I ordered a pair of 1947 501’s in 34x32, and measured them to be 42cm across the waist, which is juuuuust a bit uncomfortably tight for me. I also have big thighs so they fit pretty snug. Some people say they shrink two sizes in length and one size in the waist (when soaked while not wearing them) but pretty quickly stretch back out in the waist. The 47 and 37 are not Cone Denim anymore, I don’t think, so is the Japenese denim more prone to shrinking than Cone Mills, or is it the other way around? I want to just give the jeans a nice soak and then wear them until I really REALLY need to wash them, to get a nice personalized look. I feel like both 55 and 37 would fit my physique better but the 47’s are so frickin sweet and classic. Sorry for the long rant.
@@davidjohansson4315 the new Kurabo denim has nice feel. If you have thick legs then 55s are great. 47s are so tight you need to compensate by upsizing. You can do a tub soak to fit them to your curves. Wearing them daily for a week will expand the waist a bit.
Sir may i ask..do you have any description of the 1936 levis 501?..because i have one here but unfortunately i took it on to the taylor and cut it into a shorts..it doesnt have anymore a backpatch when i got it from a thrift store..but it has buttons for suspenders front n back..belt loops..cinch but already cut off..red tab with big E..2 back pockets with exposed rivets..also have a crotch rivet and a red selvedge line..
there is a recreated 501C (covered rivets). Do you have the inside tag? Look for the 9 digit product ID number, it might have 501 in it. and maybe the year 36 or 37. Suspender buttons and red tab is unusual.

I wear that combo often.

Definitely caught my attention, your videos are so knowledgeable. I also hope Levi’s brings back those push on buttons.

Heavier denim is stronger and warmer.
1920s have widest thighs.
Evander is a dope name.
@@denindenim thanks for response bud, keep the videos coming

Dumb question, do I have to cut the cinch off to wear a belt?
Not at all. It is just a little harder to pass the belt through that back loop.

@@denindenim ok cool! Do you think the 55 shrinks at all in the waist after a tub soak? I wouldn’t want to wear them in the tub.
