Hi Patrick, Thanks for your great review! It's great to see yourself and so many people in the comments are happy with our products. We're currently looking into your comment about the holes on the Vintage Racing and can see that more holes gives everyone the option for a better fit. Myself and the team are looking forward to more of your videos. Enjoy the straps, they will only get better the more you wear them! ;) Tim @ WatchGecko
Thank you Tim! Best of luck on all your future endeavors, although with products like this I doubt luck is necessary. I am so glad to have had these straps in: they changed my mind *completely* about leather straps. Be well and thank you for the time.
Yeah, the deliver time was amazing. I kinda neglected to mention that. I think it took 2-3 days from their HQ. Very, very happy with that kind of service.
Very timely! I ordered a Watchgecko strap last week to fit on my Dan Henry 1970 compressor-style watch. I'm glad to see your enthusiastic review and am looking forward to experiencing one in person in the coming days.
Let me know what you think - I'm assuming you purchased a rubber offering? Very excited to hear how it fits. By the way, those Dan Henry Super Compressors... I almost got one. How does it wear?
Actually I purchased a black perforated leather strap with orange stitching from WatchGecko, which arrived yesterday. For $15 (including shipping from the UK) it is amazing to me how they make any money on this at all. Quality is excellent but of course at this price point it is only Genuine Leather, which for my needs is perfectly adequate. We'll see how it wears in the coming months. Dan Henry is a brand to keep an eye out on. I already have a 1963 chronograph which I adore, so a sudden interest in the compressor-diver style (almost got the one of the NTH Azores, but at 40mm it's a little too small for my wrist) led me to the 1970 with a 44mm case. Like you I have a 7-1/4 inch wrist but I prefer my watches in the 42 to 44 mm size. Note that Dan Henry also issues the 1970 in a 40 mm case as well. As for the watch itself, I got the orange accent version and am very pleased. It fits my wrist very comfortably and the added bonus is that unlike the 1963 (quartz movement), it has a Seiko NH35 automatic movement. I am quite happy with it and highly recommend it to anyone considering. I expect great things in the future from Dan Henry because he is a watch collector and enthusiast foremost, with an eye towards what us watch geeks really like.
Great review patrick. Bought two handmade straps after watching your review and really loving them! Totally agree with your comment on how the holes could be better spaced out on the handmade straps though!
Great review, I do have a couple of WG Straps, NATO and regular leather and rubber straps. Actually I have a similar issue with sizing with one them as there the distance of the holes are bigger. The WG Rubber i am wearing my padi has as well just the one keeper and I do the look of it but it doesn’t wears well as it it not able keeping the end tight to the wrist totally. Added another and now am fine with it. Cool in-depth review, cheers, Konstantin 🙏🏻
Right? The spacing... A lot of companies make this mistake, or if it's by design... *Why?* How a strap wears should be *priority #1* for these groups. Now, it wasn't so drastic to be unusable, but it definitely can be improved upon.
Boy, I hound these down... I mean, *consistently* looking for stuff. It's not healthy, but when a good deal does turn up... *Looks at most recent acquisitions* ... It feels great. Best of luck *watch hunting!*
Awesome review. And, my god... that Seiko looks like a dream!! Would love to know which one it is. I´m with you with the smell. Leather is life. Keep up the good work, subscribed!!
Nothing like the smell of high quality leather! Not a huge fan of the rally straps aesthetic appearance but agree with they are best for summer. Awesome video!
Again another great review Pat. Geckota straps are great! just one little problem.. the Italian hand made non-buckle strap is 115mm long and is just too short if you have a medium/ large wrist size.. needs to be at least 125mm... if was 125/130mm would be the perfect strap.
I have a horween two piece nato on my mm300 and it looks good- slightly too thin for the watch, if they made a higher one to match the depth of the marinemaster I would buy it. As for the quality and service, I’ve bought a few from them and think they’re amazing- fast delivery, watch cloth included and they got that brand loyalty from me after the second purchase. 👍🏽👍🏽
I purchase a strap from watch gecko after a week or two it started fraying around the pin holes which had not been used , then I got a questionnaire from watch gecko asking my opinion which I replied with photos of the problem with their strap . Stopped holding my breathe for a reply as turning blue . Don’t think I will purchase from them again .
great review. I have the handmade version on a Sieko Flightmaster(right now anyway). Very nice strap, but, I love it, but agree on the hole spacing, could be better. My wrist might just be a weird size. I love the smell as well. Also, Italian ribber straps that smell like vanilla are pretty awesome too.
Thanks for the review and a look at just some of Watch Gecko's offerings. I'm looking for a vintage brown rally style strap, and the one you showed (sub $30) may be just the one for an upcoming watch. I recently purchased a mesh bracelet from Watch Gecko. It's quite good and they come in a variety of finishes. And, from what I understand, their bracelets are quite nice as well. Anyways, the watch bands looks great on your watches.
Thank you! I thought so too, haha. Yeah, I'm not going to lie... I haven't gone through their full inventory. They're definitely one of the largest distributors. Love what they're doing.
As always a great review! Is the strap on the Omega Dynamic the COLOURED STITCHING SIMPLE HANDMADE LEATHER STRAP? The color on the website looks much lighter.
It is indeed, and that is something of note. It could just be my lighting here... However, without a doubt, it's a fantastic leather strap. I'm willing to bet there's variance when it comes to their leather as well. Anyhow, super happy with them.
On my 2 piece leather straps, I massage barbasol shaving cream into them, maybe 3 to 4 times over a 2 day period.... BOOM! .... Insta-supple and has the feel of a nicely broken in strap that has been worn for months. I have only ever done this with "regular" leather, not suede or nubuck. And I have also learned if you like the look of a "vintage style" distressed leather strap, then treat yourself to a strap made from Horween chromexcel leather. Very soft and supple from day one, and it'll only get better over time.
I really enjoy their grey nato straps. They are really thin and pliable. I specify their grey strap because I’ve noticed not every nato strap from them is the same (ie. the bond straps). What model is the vintage seiko with the rally strap?
Haha, I have been, just yesterday I was wearing my Squale Tiger along with the handmade Vintage Racing Strap. The other handmade strap is on my Seiko Cocktail. They’ve held up brilliantly and without any conditioning on my part: honestly, as good as the day I received them. Perhaps better, as they’ve worn in. 👌
I love me some lengthy strap videos, thanks Pat! I smell all my leather straps. I always lean towards simple handmade straps and Gecko is hard to beat for the price and quality compared to others I've bought from that start at $60 dollars upwards to $170, and they're damn good lookin! Well... except for the rally strap imo, never been a fan of the style -- your gf knows wassup :P
Hahaha, yooo! I guess so... I mean, I'm not a *huge* fan either, but I like it with my UFO *dang it!* She may have a point though. She's pretty biased when it comes to watches though, doesn't like too many frills.
I most certainly did NOT get those boxes with my handmade straps from watch gecko... rat bastards..😊 straps are AMAZING tho, so they can keep the boxes... cheap pricks.😆😆

Wow, *Dan Henry* is on the list. "1970" in a 40mm case... Hmm...

I think it’s a design issue, as well it’s difficult to design a one fits all version.
you have such amazing vintage watches. I never find such great watches on ebay

Nothing like the smell of high quality leather! Not a huge fan of the rally straps aesthetic appearance but agree with they are best for summer. Awesome video!
*Thank you* Victor. Yeahhh, I didn't like 'em either, till I say what it looked like on my UFO. Very happy with the pairing.

Got the 27Buck one, REALLY happy.

Hahaha, couldn't agree more, although smelling rubber in front of company is even weirder... (I still do it).
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett hahaha. I do get some funny looks.
Thanks for the review and a look at just some of Watch Gecko's offerings.

i bought the same strap for 22mm lug and its has shrunk over time ( 2years ) to fit 20mm lug. for the price it should have quick release spring bars

What model is the vintage seiko with the rally strap?
That is a Seiko 6138-0017 Yachtsman, or more lovingly referred to as the "UFO."
Great review, Patrick! What size is your wrist?
Thank you! I have a 7.25" wrist.
I wish they made straps for a smaller size wrist.
Great review. What is that Seiko chrono on the rally strap?
Seiko 6138 “UFO” 👌
Do you have the actual link for the third strap? thansk!
I live in the UK I’ve actually bought the vintage rally strap in 18mm
They do the best watch straps iv ever used or bought.
Completely agreed. Some of my favorite leather straps on the market.
Love a rally strap on a motorsport inspired style watch.
They have some on sale on eBay I picked up a handmade navy blue strap for £16 down from £40 worth a look
I've been looking for a perfect strap for my Alpinist. The plain handmade one might be the one.
You really can't go wrong, not at that price.
Hi Patrick, are you still wearing those straps? If yes, how do they fair after one year of wearing them?
Haha, I have been, just yesterday I was wearing my Squale Tiger along with the handmade Vintage Racing Strap. The other handmade strap is on my Seiko Cocktail. They’ve held up brilliantly and without any conditioning on my part: honestly, as good as the day I received them. Perhaps better, as they’ve worn in. 👌
The leather straps are really good but I think their range of bracelets are just awesome.
Oh man... Looks like I'm going to need to take another look.
Goddamn it Patrick... I just ordered the stitched simple strap. You making it sound too good.
Hahaha, *I'm sorry man!* Hey, report back here if I was right! ... If not... Silently message me your disgust, hahaha.
Watch gecko are great . Be good if they did the combination straps that wrist candy watch strap do .
I love me some lengthy strap videos, thanks Pat! I smell all my leather straps. Nope not weird I think many of us love that smell of fresh leather!
+Robert Sanchez Yeah, does a lot for me, haha
Is that an OEM rubber strap you're wearing?
+Dan Felton Hi Dan. No, that is in fact an item I have in for review. More on that later though.
"Like Watch Porn?" This sentence from the description had me scratching my head for a minute. Maybe choose a different wording lol
I am going to buy one of the watch gecko Horween NATOs and see how it feels and looks.
-Michael
Report back here... I usually don't do Leather Natos.
Great video buddy.
*Thank you* Giancarlo!
I most certainly did NOT get those boxes with my handmade straps from watch gecko... rat bastards..😊 straps are AMAZING tho, so they can keep the boxes... cheap pricks.😆😆
Hahaha, no more boxes! Damn. Times are hard, I suppose.
nice seiko ; )
+John Doe *Thank you* man, love my 6138’s
These straps may be good, but their leather Nato is razor thin. There are better straps on Ebay for less money and faster shipping.
"DYNAMIC"
Damn them! They wouldn’t deliver to Thailand!
+Wongsarun Chatamornwong Really? Dude, I’m sorry to hear that: any reason as to why?
Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett they said they had problems delivering to Thailand before so they no longer deliver to Thailand :(
