Hi Joe, hearing about your dad, was tough, but he still goes with you guys that's so terrific. Ten yrs ago I had a stroke in the hospital for a month, then rehab hosp, for 6 weeks, no more skiing, bike riding, kayaking, hiking. so when you talked of your dad being so eager to get home I burst into tears I know that feeling.Glad your Dad is doing so well , you and your son help keep him in the game, so good.
I love your definition of "tent". We have a hunting camp that isn't a whole lot larger than your tent, but with a lot less comforts. Keeping it primitive was something we all agreed on when we built it. The only concessions so far have been a generator and solar panel to have lights and radio. Your set up is top shelf, and would be anyone's dream get-away.
I'm a survivor of an brain aneurism and still have others they can't fix. Can't work a regular job but I have a full life here on my farm. I've lived 14 yr now, that's 9 yrs longer then they gave to live. The surgery changed me a lot, still tired a lot, can't drive some days, have no short term memory and then there are the mood swings but I've discovered a new sense of compassion within myself. I'll never work as a welder or contractor again but I find joy in whittling and wood carving. My heart breaks your family has had to go though this. The trick for me and my family was not to think about how I've changed and things I can't do but to be grateful for what I could still do. Grateful everyday I wake up. Will pray for you and you family. Never saw your channel befor tonight it just popped up. You seem like a really sweat tough man.
Glad to hear your dads recovering well. Mine is 81 and Mom is 79. I’m so fortunate to still have them both and in pretty good health! Get him to the lake he will love it!
Joe, thanks for sharing such a personal story/event. Glad to hear that his recovery is going well. A great surgeon and a strong will to live is an awesome combination.
Thanks for the video Joe! Glad to see your Dad is recovering nicely. I totally understand the feelings you were going through. My Dad is 73 and has had to have an operation to remove bladder cancer and then shortly after that a lump was discovered behind hid right ear. They had to operate and remove it. In order to do that they had to literally peel his ear off his head and then sew it back on when they were done. He was one of the lucky ones. He was the first member of his family to make it over 60 without dying from cancer. He has lost his Mom, older sister, a younger brother, and 3 younger sisters to cancer. It really is scary to think about. Thanks again for the videos to help keep our minds on something else when everything seems like crap. They really do help. Hoping for a speedy and full recovery for your Dad and Have an awesome day!
Sat here in my floating home in the middle of a mild winter's evening in the UK countryside and finding pure joy watching your films... better than television... no nonsense delivery, not preaching lifestyle, just totally get why you get out and do this.
Hi Joe. I want to thank you very much for your dedication to providing us with such wonderful videos- pure quality. I admire your solitude, something I would love to be able to embrace. I am truly drawn to your consistent routine- I find it very therapeutic. I have often wondered about your incredible father. I thank you, your Father and your Mother for sharing such personal and emotional information with us all. Not easy. Such strength. Amazing family. So very proud of your Father joe. Thank you once again for your wonderful videos- I love them. Angie from Australia.
It just goes to show that you should never take life for granted. My cousin was told he had a heart murmur but about a year ago he found out he needed one of his heart valves replaced. When he went in for the pre-op physical & they did the MRI or Cat scan they found out he had an aneurysm on the main aorta coming out of his heart. Luckily he made it through the surgery with a new valve & the aneurysm fixed. Then a few months later he found out he has prostate cancer & is fighting that. So don't take life for granted & live it to the fullest. Let your loved ones know you love them. Thanks for sharing your story.
Joe, thank you for sharing a very emotional life event about your Dad. I believe, each and every one of us, has had to witness a loved one, go through a traumatic health situation that makes us stronger as a family unit. You and your family are so very blessed that he is well on his way to recovery. The love and support you have all given your Mom and Dad, hasn't gone unnoticed. Embrace every moment with them. Someday, the all mighty will want them back. Very courageous of you for sharing. Blessings to all, Suzanne, Thunder Bay, Ontario 🇨🇦
Lots of snow and cold. Glad your Dad came through the operation, and on the road to recovery. 3rd post surgery day is really hard. I was a ICU nurse and well understand how very scary it can be. Families that are close and strong is truly the best medicine for recovery. God watches over His children. Blessings and prayer for your family. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️💐💐💐💐
It takes a grea, humble human being to share such intimate moments of your life. Your family is lucky to have you. God bless you. Speedy recovery for dad.. 🙏
The winter tent trips are what started me on this channel! Excellent way to start my sunday! My thoughts and prayers are with your dad and a speedy recovery!!
I love your channel. You share life as it is. I am very grateful that you choose to include those moments in video form. I'm glad your father is ok and recovering. I look forward to seeing hunting and fishing seasons at the tent in 2019.
Thanks for sharing about your dad. Thoughts and prayers for your dad, your mom, for you, and for your family. Nothing better than watching the “Winter Trip” video and sip on some coffee here in Kentucky.
God bless you and yours. Your dad is as tough as they come. He has many years ahead of him filled with projects and memories to be made with family and friends. I believe from what I have seen in years of videos by you Joe that your father will come back from this. Even if things change as far as abilities I have no doubt he will overcome all of them and keep going. Over the years I have seen people go through major medical events like your fathers and the ones with drive recover. Your dad has a lot drive in him. Very motivated. I have had the misfortune to see elder relatives just waste away because their only goal was their recliner and TV. Basically no real drive or worthwhile fulfilling goals. Thanks again for sharing and look very forward to seeing your dad and you fishing in the spring opener!!!!
Hey Joe’s Dad, so glad to hear you are recovering. Praying for many years of health for you and your family to enjoy all the hard work you put into that beautiful cabin. By the way I think your son will be as talented as you at building.
I am so glad you still have both parents. (I am from Ohio so I understand the cold and snow.) My parents separated when I was 12. My father remarried when I was 15. Mom never did. I lost my mom in 93 or 94. My father lasted until 2004 when my step-mother died of heart failure and Dad lived about 6 months longer. He had Alzheimer's which is what he died from. Mom died of complications from emphysema. I was glad and sad when both died. Glad because they were both suffering. My brother died 10 years ago of liver cancer. I have no one now except the spouse. At 72, one should have someone who cares - sigh - I guess my husband does, but you'd never know it from his behavior and he is 76! I imagine I will outlive him so I am preparing myself for it. Thank you for sharing. I am delighted that you still have your parents. Enjoy them now. What lovely scenery up there at the tent. I loved backpacking and camping in years gone by because I love nature. Take care.
sorry to hear that your dad was that sick. glad he is doing well now. always enjoy watching your whole family. you all seem like such food down to earth people. the world could use more of you
I lost my Dad to an aneurism. Here one second gone the next kind of thing. If we had just found it before (like you did) then the greatest man I've ever known might still be here today. It breaks my heart knowing this. It warms my heart knowing someone else found it in time.
I love where you're at with all the snow. I love watching you on the tractor. I used to drive an old Massey. I was born 1963. From birth to 1982 my family built a cabin in meadville pa. 1 hour south of Erie. It was farm area. I loved the life. I live unfortunately near Pittsburgh. I love the cabin & how you made everything. Everything is well organized. I love tht life & i miss it alot. I just heard on your video getting 5 - 9. Hi 7 degrees. Wow. Great video. Show more. Very interesting. I enjoyed it & brought back lots of memories.
So glad your father made it and had an excellent recovery. Your trips up in the winter really amaze me. I'm use to cold, but the last cold i felt was 0° with -7° wind-chill. I can't imagine walking over a frozen lake. Kinda blows my mind. I'm from Oklahoma, and it gets chilly and icy. I would love to walk around in the woods in the snow like that and see what's been about. We just don't get THAT much snow. Thank you for sharing your life in the beautiful winter seclusion. I really like your tent too. I think i could live in that full time. Your parents place is gorgeous. PS. The deer Heart was delicious looking what big deer y'all have up there. Have a blessed Christmas and a happy New year!
Joe, I am so happy your dad is doing better! It’s one of my favorite parts watching your dad walk into the tent! Especially during deer season. I wish him a speedy recovery and thank you again for sharing with your online family 😀
Always think highly of you and your family. You are a rare and awesome piece of humanity. Wishing all the best to you and your family. Love your videos Joe!
That Luxury Tent(?), Outhouse and location is such a perfect getaway haven. Glad your Dad is well. Your family did a great job building a simple, efficient and well planned home in the woods! I'm jealous.
Your a tough man for shareing all this with us -- 2015 April I had a tumor removed from spine - I spent 40 days in the hospital ( Veteran ) 10 hours to clean the tumor off my spine & the rest of the days in a rehab which They got me up & walking again . My hat off to your dad God Bless Him --Ray
Its a real wake up call, isn't it? We just walked thru that with my Dad. Sadly, he passed last April (at 84 yo) after a year long struggle. It made me determined to embrace the lessons learned from walking thru that whole situation - we never know how much time we have with our loved ones so say and do the things you want them to receive from you NOW... Do what you can now to avoid the "Why didn't I" regrets later on. Prayers and blessings on you and your family, continued recovery for you Dad. thanks for sharing - there are more folks out there than you would ever believe for whom the feeling that they aren't the only ones to walk thru this is incredibly comforting.
I have been waiting for this video . Glad to hear your Dad is ok! I lost my. Daddy in 1992 to cancer. He was a WWII vet and same age as your Dad😪 and my mommy passes in 2001 it’s very losing your parents 💜😪 and I’m 59 now with no close to me... so always be humble and greatfull for every thing you have in your life 💜🇺🇸
Thank you for sharing the story about your dad. I am very happy all turned out alright. Good things happen to good people. I enjoy every moment of your videos. Please don't stop. I look forward to seeing whats going on with your life. Thank you.
I went through the same thing in 2011. Here I am 8 years later, doing well. I was in a coma for 2 weeks & in a nursing home learning how to walk again for 2 months. Then home! The cut a piece of my skull out above my right ear the size of my hand. 30 days later they put the piece of skull back in....when the swelling went down. Absolutely no pain through the whole thing, none! It affected my right eye, I see double out of it....it has gotten better, slowly, but not absolute, maybe it never will be right again, but a small price to pay to get to live. People can survive a brain trauma now days. Praise to my Doctor (and GOD)!!!!!! LOL Judie....I am 76 years old now & still live on my own! : ) Thank you for sharing your story!!!!!
You’re a blessed man Joe. Three generations all living and enjoying time together with a common bond such as hunting and fishing is a rare thing. I have a similar situation with my dad and two sons. We have a duck camp in Ville Platte, Louisiana where we spend every weekend of duck season together - these are the good ole days.
Hi Joe ! That is great news about your dad, he's a tough cookie that's for sure. We lost our dad back in 77 due to suicide, he was a big man with a big heart but knowing how to treat people with mental health problems back then wasn't what it is today. It was tough sledding for a few years as we were only in our early teens and younger but something like that takes it toll as we were never offered any counselling on how to navigate through those troubling years thereafter. So enjoy every chance you possibly can with your parents because one never knows when that grief stricken moment will come. Sorry Joe didn't mean get way off track, happy all is well so enjoy all that white stuff known as snow. Cheers !
Joe watched this before but I I think it is 2 years later and I could not be more happy for you and your family. He is doing great. Take care Love your channel
i am so glad your dad is doing better. it is so hard to lose a parent. i lost my dad 22 years ago. i miss him every day. thanks you for sharing with us. blessings.
You are truly blessed to still have both parents still. We lost dad 6 years ago and still feels like yesterday. God bless your father with his recovery and hopefully you'll have many more years to come.
Well wishes for your dad and you’re one lucky man, I lost dad two years ago when he was 68 and it feels still so fresh! Amazing winter trip 2019 video 👍🏼😁
I'm so happy for your family that ya'll were there to support your Dad. Six months after my Grandpa died my Grandma suffer an aneurism and died. Thank GOD that he is looking out for your family.
This one was pretty rough and i consider myself a mans man but tysm for sharing the story about your dad i was wondering the health condition as well. i just discovered your channel within the laast week and started watching this cabin part last night. love it. your dads carpentry talent is beyond words. not many carpenters can do it all from frame the building to finish cabinets, let alone your dads imagination for fine details... just freaking amazing to put it mildly
I had a similar aphasia (able to understand but unable to speak) back in 2017 and eventually had to have a tumor removed from my head. Very frustrating and long recovery. Best of luck to your Dad and family.
Besides telling you how much I have enjoyed your trips to the "tent" every season, I must tell you how very sad it was to learn of your father's difficult experience this past winter. It was always obvious that your father is a big influence in your life, and to share this difficult time of his life and that of his and family was special. First, good to learn all is progressing forward with your father's recovery. And then to know all is well at the tent. I'm sure many tell you quick ways to assist you with cooking, but just one tiny word....I micowave my potatoes for several minutes, depending on size, prior to cut, slice to size , then put in fry pan. So much quicker, as you already know, but no change in taste. Thank you for all the many videos that make my life more relaxed, and full of calm pleasure. You and your family are very special in this difficult world. Thanks again for sharing!!
Prayers for your dad, and the rest of the family. Thank you for sharing this with your U-Tube friends. My dad has been gone for 26 years, and I still miss him very much.
Joe, sad to hear about your dad but glad to know that he is doing well. I enjoy this trip with you to the tent as always. Still waiting to see that six wheeler running. Take care and I will keep praying for your dad full recovery.
That 'tent' is NICE!! You were smart, having those heaters located in different places inside; but, I STILL did feel COLD waiting for it to warm up. (BBBRrr...) I DID enjoy warching this video---THANKS! 😃🙃👣
This was a great video ! I am 70 years old with a bad heart and agent orange and can no longer do these things ! I started hunting and fishing with my dad when I was just a toddler! Hunted and fished till I got these problems . What you are doing is so familiar and really brings back memories for guys like me ! I really apreciate your videos and makes me relive some of those great times ! Thank you very much !
Your Dad has sure been through a lot! So glad to hear he's doing well! Scary for you and your family! Sending strength and positive thoughts! Loved seeing the cabin and your food was great. Your Dad's cabin is delightful! So many detailed and fun items! Weather looked cold and cozy - really fun to go along with you! One of the dogs would be fun to bring along, especially for the cold and companionship. Thank you for taking us along. Love your cabin videos, they are the bomb!
Happy to hear your dad is doing well. I’m currently an MRI student and I graduate this summer. I have scanned some patients in similar situations, but I usually never get to hear about patient outcomes after scanning them. Thanks for sharing.
I used to live in Ontario Canada, I now live in the UK and I remember that kind of snow and the low temperatures only to well still fresh in my memories, I deffently don't miss it, friends and family say come visit at Christmas, not on your nelly only the summer time for me. But it is great watching your videos, they bring some great memories flooding back of my fun days in the snow, ice fishing and going into the north country. Thank you Joe and I hope your dad is doing ok. 🇬🇧
👁👁👁....It’s Amazing to hear someone who went through a similar situation...My mother had the same thing but hers burst In her sleep..she made it to the hospital which was a1/4 mile away surgery was 9 hours to...Unfortunately when hers burst she had a stroke and was paralyzed on the left side....That’s Amazing that he recovering that quick...Thank god he is ok........T.Gunz....
I love me a winter trip video winter trip 2019 awesome video Joe I wish your dad a speedy recovery take care and God bless keep these awesome videos coming
Such a beautiful video. Enjoyed the hour and half with 3 cups coffee. Time flew by, didn't hardly realise. Wishing I had a tent setup like yours so I could get away for the weekends. Stay safe in the woods
I'm glad your Dad is doing ok. I lost mine in 1988 due to a heart attack. And 3 years before that he had a stroke which paralized his throat, So the last years were lying in bed and fed enfamil through a tube in his stomach. Lost my mom in 2014 so you are blessed to still have yours. Enjoy them while you can because life is short.
Get well soon dad , Joe this is first time I’ve watched your winter trip. I had no idea that a person would be capable of doing what you did , just to get there, you guys up north , are some tough cookies
I always feel melancholy when your trip to the tent videos end. It’s very reminiscent of “alone in the wilderness”. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Prayers for your father.
I love how you can be out there all by yourself. I lost my brother and my dad in November and it's hard for me to think about going camping and fishing without them but it's something I'm going to have to do.
Brain swelling is a very traumatic thing. My Son suffered a severe head injury when he fell out a window at 2 years old.. Same thing they removed a piece of his skull til swelling went down.. Glad your Dads doing great!! Neurosurgeons are amazing people!!!!
First time I've seen your video - and subscribed. Wonderful cabin. I love the way you have stocked it. Great interior. Love the way you have things set up - convenient and ready for whatever you might want to do.
Joe, I also have a Ford diesel (7.3L) and wanted to share a tip I got on starting it in cold weather. Turn the key and leave it on after the glow plug lights go out until you hear the relay stop (it makes a buzzing noise). Once you hear it stop, repeat the process and then turn the key for full ignition. It really improves the starting ability of these giant diesel power plants. The only time it hasn't worked is in -30 temps when one of my batteries was weak. And always keep a container of Diesel 911 in your tool kit just in case you have a fuel gelling issue. Love the videos!
Having gone through a similar situation, except it was my mother, I can empathize with you. Tell your father that many of us are glad he is back and recovering, and he and the whole family are in our prayers.
Don't forget to stock up on butter to can. Love that video. I love that you can have a ton of butter on hand and it doesn't hog a bunch of space in the freezer! 💜🌞🌵
Glad to here your Dad is doing so well. Great news. Modern medicine is fantastic. Looking forward to the summer fishing trip and seeing your dad fishing. It's tough Joe knowing your parent is hurting and there is NOTHING you can do about it.
Hi from Australia Joe...it's so refreshing for me at least to see a guy that's really into his cabin/tent in the wilderness & I sense the love. It's a beautiful thing. It's quite hot & dry here so I envy you!
Thank God your dad is doing well and we understand why you didn't tell us right away, but if you did we could have gotten way more prayers going to support you and your family in this very serious time. Please know that we are all praying and wishing for his full recovery. Sending lots of love 💜 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵.
@@JoeandZachSurvival, you do share the important stuff: the finding loves, marriages, divorce, births and even diets. We know when work is busy and when it's not. We know what you like to eat and even how to cook it. And we appreciate all that you share. Thank you. 💜🌞🌵
That polka music always puts a smile on my face... you can look at a close call (Your Dad) in two ways. OMG what a disaster or aren’t we lucky that the medical fileld has advanced this far... no too many years ago the outcome would be different. 2 metal knee and a fused spine I choose to rejoice that I’m so lucky.
I agree, it took some heart wrenching decisions to let us see your Dad and your better the man for doing so. Thanks friend, see you next time, drive safe!
I re-watch your camp videos often, they are just so comforting and remind me of my camp.

Thank you for sharing your life and for all the work you put into making these videos. May your Dad have a full and speedy recovery.
God bless you and your family, I pray for full recovery for you dad. God was watching over him and those taking care of him, Thanks for the videos.
Loved the video....And i love to hear happy endings so glad your Dad is getting better!!!! We love you all and Prayers for the whole family!!!
I have been waiting for this video . Glad to hear your Dad is ok! I lost my. Daddy in 1992 to cancer. He was a WWII vet and same age as your Dad😪 and my mommy passes in 2001 it’s very losing your parents 💜😪 and I’m 59 now with no close to me... so always be humble and greatfull for every thing you have in your life 💜🇺🇸
Sorry to hear that you lost your daddy in 1992 i lost my grandma long time back and my unkel Dennis few years back
And sorry to hear that you lost your mommy in 2001
All the best to you !!
Thanks for going deep Joe. Your dad will always be a spirit guide. His knowledge has obviously helped you and the kids over the years.
I know how you feel. I lost both of mine 15 months apart. Take care, you're not alone! Sending love from Texas!
Best wishes to your family and hoping your dad has a swift and full recovery! Amazing video as usual! Thankyou!
I love your videos and finally caught up watching them all. Keeps a 70 year old entertained for hours. Lol.
Great video Joe and I hope your Dad makes a full and speedy recovery.

Emotions are not easy to deal with, and I salute you for having put it out there. Takes a big man.
You are truly blessed to still have both parents still. We lost dad 6 years ago and still feels like yesterday. God bless your father with his recovery and hopefully you'll have many more years to come.
Sending prayers for you and your family. So glad your father is doing better. Thank you for sharing your experience. ❤️🥰

Thank you Scott.
@@JoeandZachSurvival Hello Sir.
Did You ever had some weird situations in the woods ? Something like David Paulides' 411 stories ? Anything ?
That heart looks so good! The whole plate looks good! Your parents' cabin has lovely woodwork. Just beautiful.
Thank you Mary for the wonderful comment and great potato tip.
Hope your dad heals up quickly. love your dad and his beautiful cabin. Prayers sent for him.
Thank you for the nice comment David. People like you are what makes taking the time to make the videos worth it. Thank you again.
What a amazing video joe! Thanks for sharing can’t wait to see the fishing trip video with your dad, hope all is well with your family! God bless

Such a beautiful video.
Enjoyed the hour and half with 3 cups coffee. Time flew by, didn't hardly realise.
Wishing I had a tent setup like yours so I could get away for the weekends.
Stay safe in the woods
I loved seeing all of the tracks/trails, both animal and human. Thank you. 💜🌞🌵
Get well soon dad ,
Joe this is first time I’ve watched your winter trip. I had no idea that a person would be capable of doing what you did , just to get there, you guys up north , are some tough cookies
So glad your Dad’s ok ,nice to see a family so close.👍
Just as great the 2nd time around. Hope for the best for your dad and you all.
I can't begin to tell you how jealous I am of this place. Life goals. Your parents place is amazing too - that stove and all the woodwork!
I always feel melancholy when your trip to the tent videos end. It’s very reminiscent of “alone in the wilderness”. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Prayers for your father.
Hey joe love your videos , keep them coming , all of us up here in Canada hopes your dad a speedy recovery , and can get back to fishing this spring .
Elaine from Glasgow Scotland..........keep them coming....love watching x
I love how you can be out there all by yourself. I lost my brother and my dad in November and it's hard for me to think about going camping and fishing without them but it's something I'm going to have to do.
What an incredible craftsman your father is! Amazing. Glad he’s making a good recovery.
Thanks Marty.
Don't forget to stock up on butter to can. Love that video. I love that you can have a ton of butter on hand and it doesn't hog a bunch of space in the freezer! 💜🌞🌵
first time that I have seen your folks' cabin...what a work of art ! exquisitely crafted...so glad i had the privileged to see it .
Glad to here your Dad is doing so well. Great news. Modern medicine is fantastic. Looking forward to the summer fishing trip and seeing your dad fishing. It's tough Joe knowing your parent is hurting and there is NOTHING you can do about it.
You are so luck to be able to do this. It is very exciting. God bless!!
Ideal little spot‼️ everything one could want.
Thank you for sharing this private moment in your families life. Praying for a speedy recovery for your dad!
Hi from Australia Joe...it's so refreshing for me at least to see a guy that's really into his cabin/tent in the wilderness & I sense the love. It's a beautiful thing. It's quite hot & dry here so I envy you!
My mom and grandpa both have had storkes glad you're dad made it thru this hard time love seeing him in the videos and the cool stuff he makes
I rarely share personal stuff but this was too big not to. Many many people watch him in the videos.
Thank You for sharing Your passion for nature but also those difficult times .Wishing You and your family all the best.
I agree, it took some heart wrenching decisions to let us see your Dad and your better the man for doing so. Thanks friend, see you next time, drive safe!
