- Rishi Sunak said the first migrant deportation flights to Rwanda will take place in “10 to 12 weeks” as he conceded he had failed to deliver on his target of getting them up and running by the spring.
He told a Downing Street press conference this morning: “The first flight will leave in 10 to 12 weeks. Of course that is later than we wanted but we have always been clear that processing will take time and if Labour peers had not spent weeks holding up the Bill in the House of Lords to try to block these flights altogether we would have begin this process weeks ago.”
The Prime Minister said after that there will be a “regular rhythm” to the flights.

Net migration in the year to June 2023 was at 672,000(maybe 1 million).
Other, 102,807 people granted Ukraine Visa and Extension Schemes visas. 43,368 people granted Hong Kong BN(O) visas.
In 2023: report estimates estimates therre were 14,648 stowaways.
In a single year, What possible difference is a couple of photo op flights to Rwanda.

Instead of paying for these flights and billions to Rwanda government why can't spend in STOPPING those boats.. Stop the boats first..
Why are they sending them to Rwanda? The migrants are coming from France aren't they? The UK is not in the EU anymore so let the EU take care of EU migrants. If they are in France they already have asylum so put them on boats and return them to the EU and let them apply for immigration from there if they want to immigrate to the UK. This dog and pony show won't accomplish anything meaningful or solve anything and they know it but they cannot and will not allow any benefit of leaving the EU to be seen by securing UK borders.

In the meantime in Tunisia the President said two sentences about their illegal migrants (too many of them and that they want to slowly replace the locals) and in less than a week their countries send planes to rapatriate them . 😂

One question for Rishard (I assume that's his full name). Who's going to provide the planes? All airlines have said they won't do it and the RAF said they would but needed funding to put suitable infrastructure and security in place in one of their bases but they were refused the funding.

Watched the Simon Reeve in Greece documentary last night and was a real eye opener how in comparison, in the UK people coming on small boats is a tiny meaningless issue in reality (other than nobody wants anyone to drown). Nothing is going to stop the crossings what we clearly need is global cooperation and correct swift processing of claims. No politically motivated pandering to a diminishing base policy is going to do anything. Nobody gets on a small boat unless it is safer than the land. This may win a few votes but will do nothing else

The agreement is for 500 per year maximum. So that'll be 25,000 over 50 years. The agreement document is available on line, I suggest reading it.
