- In this video we will be unboxing the Samsung S21 Ultra and doing a Samsung s21 ultra camera test in very low light conditions. On this channel we have recently done lots of iPhone 12 Pro Max camera testing and in this video we will do a s21 ultra vs iphone 12 pro max camera test when we photograph the stars in our very clear night skies. There are lots of tests that can be done with new phones, but with very low light photography, that is, astrophotography with your phone, its the ultimate Samsung s21 ultra camera test

I have to disagree with the "ugly" part. I found S21 ultra to look beautiful. It was amazing the way they blended the camera module into the design. It's easier to hold than 12 pro max.

In my mind, the s21 ultra is the most beautiful phone ever made, except for the hole-punch on the front. I just love it's weight, and the minimalist yet classy design and the the embracing of its huge camera module.
Each to their own, but I think it looks spectacular.

This is the best design camera so far it's so beautiful. Idk why you calling it's ugly
11 seconds is about the limit if you want to avoid star trailing. I'd also knock the ISO down to about 800 at most. You can get some excellent results at those settings.

@@FoodRecipes108 probably too much light around . You have to do it in darkness. The longer the lens is open (11 sec.) The more light gets into the photo. That's why you can see the stars so nice, because it let's a lot of the light from them, that is normally too dim to show. Also you have to use a tripod and it can't be shaking at all

Interesting what you say about this phone being ugly etc. After getting this phone on contract I must say my problem is its too long as width is right size but its too long.
I've tried astrophotography with it and it's pretty good. Even in bottle 6 skies I think it is a big improvement over the disappointing samsung s7.
Still I'm going to do astrophotography with this phone in even darker skies and what you got here its amazing how far smartphone cameras has come over the years. You look amazed at how good this phone is and I think that shot looks fantastic. The amount of stars and detail in milky way just shows these phones no longer playing catch up to dslrs any more. It's good that you can this level of photography from small censors.
Huawei p40pro iPhone Pixel and Samsung are all up there with dslrs and giving more people to try astrophotography.
Samsung I give credit to them and you show here how great this phone is.
Phones camera could be better looking but with these shots nobody won't even bother. Seeing your reaction shows your passion for smartphone astrophotography plus using all these phones. Next five years I guess astrophotography with your phone will be like having a high end dslr in your pocket! Smartphone astrophotography is going to get even more popular and exciting times are coming for us all when we are out and see the stars and think I want to photograph those stars and take out our phone and get great results! Great video mate and great shots too!
It performs well enough. I think with the lenses offset so much on a geometric case, it just looks a bit odd to me. Yes its certainly exciting times ahead mate, thats for sure

@@grgott691 I did some with 30x and 100x zoom just straight off the cuff no filters or anything and they came out amazing, best camera phone I've ever used .
Uhhhh that back is not ugly in my opinion. It's the nicest looking camera bump on any phone in my honest opinion.

Imagine getting the right mount for a light refractor it'd be comparable to other high end deep space cameras. The 22 and 23 have a star mode where you can see where different constellations are

S21 has .7 micron pixels but thats before the nona-binning that converts 3x3 pixels into one virtual pixel of 2.7 microns for low lights performance. Also Pro mode while shooting Raw offers 12 Bit HDR!!! This video was enough proof for me to trade up!

@@ShayneMostyn I will say I’m disappointed that Samsung doesn’t have an image stacking mode like pixel. That massive 1/1.33” sensor can absorb a lot of light and with an image stacking mode I think this phone would be insane.

@@ShayneMostyn That would be awesome! I’m just surprised Samsung hasn’t taken initiative yet. They could call it GalaxyView or GalaxySight and because the camera sensor is larger and the CPU is faster than the pixel it wouldn’t need to shoot for 4 minutes, hell look at how good it is at 30 seconds!

Hey you are the first person i saw who is saying s21 ultra ugly because its the best looking phone out there.
Its a personal thing mate. It has grown on me. If the lenses all lined up, it would be great. But to have them all "sort of" lined up, it just seems like they missed something.

When you switch the phone to 12M it’ll give you a 2.4 pixel size. Which much bigger than on the iPhone 12max
Are you sure mate? I have found nothing that says 2.4? A Sony A7Riii is 4.5 and its a full frame camera. Can you send me a link that shows this please? Regardless, its pretty bloody impressive eh? Thanks mate.

I think it's beautiful. Also with the binning the pixels are 2.4 microns so much larger than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Nothing ugly about this phone, it's built for performance and high quality. That's all that matters to me. Best phone I've ever had and the camera/video is 2nd to none. Glad I dropped the money on this phone and will likely have it for the next 4-5yrs. No need for an upgrade. Solid built, sturdy,huge 4k quality screen and feels like its built right.

I got the s21 Ultra only a day ago . The pictures I took today are leagues beyond anything I've done previously. Tonight I'm gonna try some long exposure photos of stars while out here in canyons of Utah , near Eagle Canyon . Wanted to wait on new Note but it doesn't appear to be coming . This is my first Flagship phone and so happy . After all my saved up trade in credits and 500 down I am only paying 15 dollars a month for this amazing phone ... well camera for most part for me .

I just took a pic of the moon from the very very light polluted San Francisco Bay Area, with no adjustments and I can see the frickin craters on the dang thing so clearly!! this phone is amazing!

Watched your video repeatedly today and your pro 12 video on moon shots for tonight's pink super moon. Found a great spot just before dark and guess what I forgot. My reading glasses!!! Couldn't see a thing on camera settings lol. Got a ok photo but eager to get better and learn more. Thanks mate

Ok ok ok... If you can take a photo like that, maybe try to do something with the zoom in the Skyadventurer or some GoTo mount, in piggyback maybe, if you use the zoom y 5 or 10x maybe take M42 or Andromeda, I'm using the Canon T6, a telescope reflector Astrograph 10", CGEM mount, and a lot of coffee jajajaja

In my opinion the Galaxy S21 Ultra has one of the best looking camera module. I much prefer the Galaxy S21 Ultra camera module compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max especially in that Phantom Silver color.

Well you are the first poster on UA-cam who includes digital camera's like DSLR's in your comparison to top smartphones. Most others just put the Smartphones against each other. Well done and you indeed continue using Adobe Lightroom (mobile vesion makes sense). I myself postprocess all pictures from both from my digital camera and two smartphones on a LR version on the PC. Wondering whether this doubling and PC based editing is still be needed after buying one of the S21 models from Samsung.

@@ShayneMostyn You are welcome. On all the SLR's I used over the years the maximum shutter time of up to 30 seconds (next to B & T open shutter options) was always a selection criterium. From my very first Exakta, moving to a doubled Canon EF and ending up with Canon A1 all had longer times. My advanced Canon compact G7X MK I is more linited in this respect. Nice to see this 30 seconds repeated on the Samsung S21 smartphones and your nighttime sky picture is perfect. PS The guy in my photo shop still selling DSLR's to his customers is using a Samsung Galaxy Note himself with all kind of software to process them locally, not needing a PC but for the most demanding pictures! This shop has still its own professional printing service with a wide range of printing sizes and extra correction options. BTW being a Dutchman, listening to your "Aussie" talk is a really good exercise for honing my language skills.. :-D on
