Country music wasn't created by Black people. The genre itself is heavily influenced by many other folk music genres, as well as other cultures' music. The banjo was an African instrument, but it isn't the conception of country music haha. 'Country' music exists all over the world, differing depending on culture and traditional instruments used. Country music isn't solely American country music, even in America it's was heavily influenced by folk music from multiple cultures and countries do to migration from Europe (Ireland and Germanic speaking countries for example) and forced 'migration' from countries in Africa and Asia too. In Thailand we have traditional country songs and instruments that have been used for centuries to make folk music :)

Beyonce as a black woman singing about rights to carry and conceal weapons in a country music awards which mostly celebrates white men is the level of free speech and confrontational conversation we need. Also Bringing the dixie chicks to validate free speech... Beyonce is a very savvy woman.
ICONIC. So brave of her to show TO THE CMAS with a diverse band and a girl group(dixie chicks) who had been attacked by the country world. COUNTRY MUSIC WAS MADE BY BLACK ARTISTS LIKE EVERY OTHER GENRE. GIVE THEM THEIR FLOWERS AND LET THEM BACK INTO TO THE SPACES THEY CREATED. BLACK ARTISTS CREATED MUSIC AS WE KNOW IT.
This is truly an iconic performance! This fits more into the country genre than most “country” songs out today. Most of the artists and viewers that didn’t care for it only didn’t like it because of the color of Beyoncé’s skin & because they don’t like that the Dixie Chicks didn’t & still are not afraid to speak up for what they believe in. I love all of the girls and this performance!

To the people who are saying "nobody in the audience was being racist": Y'all don't understand the context behind the people calling out the racism because ur 5yrs late to the video. The country music establishment is embarrassing. This was one of the greatest live TV performances of any genre of any music ever. I'm not even that much of a fan of either but there is no denying what they accomplished during this performances. It is the definition of making music.
It bothers me so much that a song, which is clearly a country song, by a country southern woman and country group is not considered a country song. I don't want to say it but there is only one reason why. Why does this particular country song bother these people so much? But everyone on that stage did a great job. The essence, soul, and unity felt that day. This is one of my favorite music award's performances.
Yo I'm a black millennial from NYC and I loved the Dixie chick growing up! They were never conventional! True pioneers! This performance made me love them even more! So funny… how everyone (myself included) is now revisiting this performance to see “what does Beyonce country music sound like” here it is! And this was nearly 10 years ago! Let her feel her oats!
*This should’ve been on country charts come on.*
They are afraid.
Beyonce really had a song for every genre on Lemonade ✨ #queentingz
How they gone be pissed at her about a genre her own ancestors created?? Please have several seats.
Alot of racist republicans was in that audience and was watching this at home lol. They hated to see this masterpiece
@@shammardowe7797 they are consumed with hate🤣🤣
@Johan Hanson yes tf they are babe
Johan Hanson yes they are their the queens and kings of racists
like she grew up in 3rd Ward in Houston,Texas and some New Orleans. The Country! I’m growing up here
This was the catalyst. The reaction from a lot of people in that audience fuelled this next era of music to be born. Roll on Beyoncé’s new album act ii 🤠 🔥👏🏼
Billy Ray Cyrus performed with Lil Nas X at the BET Awards and the reception was awesome.
When Beyonce performed with the Dixie Chicks at the CMAs, Beyonce received all kinds of negative feedback.
Ikr...
Yep black folks welcomed him. Racist country assholes showed their true colorsv
Then black people STOP fucking welcoming people, duh!
@@jermanospetalos3823 IKR...
@@jermanospetalos3823 When they go low, we go high.
Of course Beyonce did her thang! But I would like to praise the Dixie Chicks as well! I really loved how they came together, this is what life should be about !
I loved how one the Dixie Chics said at the end Good Job B❤❤❤
The most boring award show suddenly became the most lit. Thanks to Beyoncé and The Chicks. #2020
My man with the saxophone is killing it with the body rolls and attitude.
Chocolate Covered Chocolate his name is leo P. He is an absolute legend
He killed it
I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT
They’re mad because they could never have a musical arrangement like this 😂😂❤
I remember when white people got so mad because Beyoncé showed up to the damn CMA Awards.
Taiyah Jackson can’t get mad over music black people created
I think there's more contempt for the Dixie Chicks in certain parts of the country fanbase.
I think folks need a little history lesson on how country music derived. Country music came from genres such as folk music and blues. Trust Caucasian didn’t just pull it out of hat and now thinks no one has a right to create country but them. Prejudice as it finest. I wish more black musicians make country music just to piss them off more.
Angie Chambers I agree with everyone on their statements.
Tom Anderson damn sure didn’t come from whites... maybe you should look up history of it
The unseasoned men in this crowd didn't deserve such. powerful performance
Matthew broke code and started jamming 😂
@@ocky88him and his wife were non problem. It’s the other people. 😂
Can’t get over this. Beyoncé tore the house down
Racists will be pissed that Bey is on a black Southern genre she's reclaiming the music our brothers and sister invented.🔥🔥🔥👌🤣 Renaissance is the best ART
You sound obsessed with what racist do or think. You probably love white people more than you love yourself.
@@rockyhrndzI'm a white european and I totally get what he's saying. You can't steal from black people and be mad when they sing country. It's their invention. Just like Rock n Roll . Let them show us how it's done and enjoy the Show. Go Beyonce 🎉
She is black and Southern, doing what she should be doing ❤
Kinda awkward cause this is the most country performance of the night, with the instruments and the story telling...
Beyonce as a black woman singing about rights to carry and conceal weapons in a country music awards which mostly celebrates white men is the level of free speech and confrontational conversation we need.
Also Bringing the dixie chicks to validate free speech... Beyonce is a very savvy woman.
Well stated. Very calculated and multi layered.
And people have the audacity to say that she is overrated.
ICONIC.
So brave of her to show TO THE CMAS with a diverse band and a girl group(dixie chicks) who had been attacked by the country world. You can tell some people in the audience wasnt ready for what they were witnessing. The nerve of some to say this isnt country shows how narrowminded they are. This definitely isnt your bubble gum pop music! Stop trying to find a reason to degrade her. This performance was the best that night . beyonce really DELIVERED
Jayq Bratt iconic performance! Their voices are just perfect together, plus the rhythm is just amazing 🤗 much love ✨✨🌻
This is something I come back to every month or so. One of the best performances ever. The talent! The musicians! The chicks are legendary and the way they and Beyonce compiled this collaboration was just FIRE! They showed us we could be listening to all whole new sound with blending country and R& B and it is amazing!
I don;t care if you like rap, country, hip hop, soul or blues.. if you were in the audience and this didn;t make you want to clap and groove, there is something wrong with you. Such a bluesy groove on this thing. GBreat voices and the saxophone and horns...just a good old jam session
My sis had them UPSET 😂
But she ate down!!!
COUNTRY MUSIC WAS MADE BY BLACK ARTISTS LIKE EVERY OTHER GENRE. GIVE THEM THEIR FLOWERS AND LET THEM BACK INTO TO THE SPACES THEY CREATED. BLACK ARTISTS CREATED MUSIC AS WE KNOW IT.
No, it wasn't you lier. You're so uneducated and spreading misinformation
Who’s back here watching in 2024?!!! #Act2
She said… We’ll see. #PayMe
Me
Me ❤🐝🐝🐝🐝
I come back every week 🤣
This is truly an iconic performance! This fits more into the country genre than most “country” songs out today. Most of the artists and viewers that didn’t care for it only didn’t like it because of the color of Beyoncé’s skin & because they don’t like that the Dixie Chicks didn’t & still are not afraid to speak up for what they believe in. I love all of the girls and this performance!
it’s more historically authentic than your average modern country song so it indeed was one of the best modern performances of a historical American genre.
To the people who are saying "nobody in the audience was being racist": Y'all don't understand the context behind the people calling out the racism because ur 5yrs late to the video. Back when this was first performed, there were so much criticism, backlash, racist comments etc that CMV took down the Beyonce's performance video temporarily. So yh there definitely were some racist audience members
Well fuck those audience memebers they are dumb. This performance was magical! 💖
I remeber how controversial this was and the hate she got, she slayed the preformance and handlee the criticism with grace shes a superstar
I guess she wasn't supposed to do country and her performance with them was controversial since they had been banned because of their comment about Bush. Either way -- good performance.
@@lehadden3305 ppl were mad that Beyoncé was at the cmas, the cma website had to delete the video cus the comments were all being racist and calling Beyoncé the n word
@@turquoiseoctober5586f it was because she is black how is one of the biggest country stars a black man? Multiple black men are bbeloved in county music. You’re just an ignorant dipsh!t projecting.
A performance for the ages. Beyonce was having so nuch fun!
she can literally sing any genre
Beyonce couldn't be more unbothered. She is a vocal beast no matter the genre. Good for her and the Dixie Chicks Flawless performance. Love it♥️
No literally there’s no denying her talent
Her pushing the reality of Country music’s origin, the right to conceal and her father being black, the dress is an ode to slavery, her calling the shots on stage “play that that boy” “I said play that thang” the hip swiveling, cleavage.. all these things had yt folks sickkkkkk 😂😂 amazing performance, her mind.
some didn't catch on to all of that
Whewwwwww
She owned the mfn night! They couldn’t handle the queen 😭
She was amazing
it’s more historically authentic than your average modern country song so it indeed was one of the best modern performances of a historical American genre.
Everybody is watching this after Beyonce Cowboy Carter post saying she wasn't welcome...right? They gonna learn with Act ii
yep
Beyoncé tore this performance DOWNNNNN!!!! And the Dixie chicks are too cute.. but this was an awesome performance and the haters were really salty that night.
- Country Music Loby : We don’t want Beyoncé or those Dixie Chicks at country music awards ceremonies cause of their position about war and their feminism engagement !
-Beyoncé at the biggest country music award ceremony : PLEASE GIVE IT UP FOR THE DIXIE CHICKS !
#BadBeytch 💁♂️
This is what music is about! The feeling and uplifting our spirits. I hate how Beyoncé was being judged and you can see it on everyone of their faces. Not half of those white folks were dancing or supporting her while she delivered a show stopping performance! This is why Beyoncé will always be queen! Rise above the hate of racism in venue full of racists.
sbd2qr they know deep down they was living for it
Nah they liked it bruh. White people at the CMAs ain't never been the dancing type.
The country music establishment is embarrassing. This was one of the greatest live TV performances of any genre of any music ever. I'm not even that much of a fan of either but there is no denying what they accomplished during this performances. It is the definition of making music.
I hate race traders and woke karens the most!
Because CMA cancelled the dixie chicks for speaking their minds on politics. They still are, even after this performance which is stupid.
COWBOY CARTER BROUGHT ME BACK HERE
Me too!!!
Yo I'm a black millennial from NYC and I loved the Dixie chick growing up! They were never conventional! True pioneers! This performance made me love them even more! And for all the haters in the comments claiming country music as their culture. Once again do your research. Your ancestors stole that too lol
Exactly
Everyone who has ever been to my house has been forced to watch this video, and they’re all blown away. So glad everyone else now gets a piece of it too!
🫶🏾
I wish Beyonce would sing more country
YES PLZ!
I'm so happy she's coming back to finish what she started 👊🏾👊🏾💯
Yess and hopefully in a few years we'll also get a Tinaesque Rock and roll album. This woman is phenomenal !
Im guessing people forgot where country music first came from
Don't say it girl, have some mercy🤭
They know.. but they act like they don't know
Scotland
I am here in 2024 !!! This year the CMA will be named Beyonce CMA Awards . Might I add she was gracious enough to share the stage w/ the Dixie Chicks who had not performed in years. Make way the QUEEN coming thru, WE all know black people created this music.
Who effin' cares? Not me!
@@erikdahl1293then why are you here?
I know the cameras are specifically capturing angry folks, but you can't deny the sound of that audience loving every moment
Beyoncé is phenomenal! She felt the hate, didn’t comment when it happened, went to work for 5 years on a project that produced a #1 hit, becoming the first Black woman to achieve it. Don’t complain…just show ‘em! BAM!!!
Only due to her large fan base not new supporters
Bruh racism has such a grip on people. How can you witness this performance live and barely clap your hands along to the beat? I'm lowkey impressed.
Right!! Especially other musicians! They’re mad
This was the highest rated 5 min of the whole cma awards that year .
