To belatedly answer Simon's question, I Will Survive was writen by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris. Perren was an arranger, writer, orchestrator and record producer with other disco and funk successes. Fekaris was a Greek-American producer and songwriter who, like Perren had previously worked at Motown before breaking with the company to move into disco.
Another great lesson and performance Simon. You have a way of making a piece uniquely yours! Your interpretations of great study pieces are always uniquely different from the many renditions available on the Tube and in a very pleasing way! It gives me confidence not to be shy about introducing my own subtle musical nuances when playing a piece. I dont have to aim for an exact reproduction of the 'standard' interpretation out there. I'm getting closer and closer to becoming a full dues paying member!
It would be great if you specified when you were using either rest or free stroke during these lessons. Watching your hand as you play I can see that you switch between the two quite frequently and easily. Keep these coming they are much appreciated and very helpful. Cheers.
You are an effortlessly great teacher and evidently a great guy too.
Very kind, thank you.
This tutorial was awesome. You’ve taught us how to give life to a score. You’re a great teacher Simon. Thank you very much!
Just watching this on catchup, what a beautiful piece.
