Super helpful for someone that just got into fragrances a couple years ago. Great advice. I definitely blind bought a couple times and ended up giving them away. Plus 50ml is a good size if you don’t wear it everyday. No need for a big bottle every time.
I think you're the best at everything to do with fragrance..and I've seen a lot of fragrance UA-camrs with more followers than you like curlyfragrance and don't get me wrong she's amazing but I feel like you're style is just the best in every way possible
Another great video with great advice for those starting out. Definitely telling folks to buy decants first is a great tip. I am looking forward to seeing what you think are some "unknowns." Keep up the great work. 💙💙
Started building my fragrance rotation back in August and this is exactly the process I went through. I'm focused on building a small, budget friendly, long-lasting collection. I have Lattafa Oud for Glory (formal), Lattafa Asad (loud crowded events), Lattafa Khamrah (dates), and Invictus Parfum (jack of all trades). Anything else I'm curious about gets ordered as a decant that I might eventually buy full-size once I finish the equivalent one in the rotation.
2:45 tbh bigger bottles are technically cheaper per ml/oz (price proposition) and Im afraid of running out of a specific fragrance and having to purchasing another of the same bottle or even a back up bottle.
In an environment where everyone wants to sell you something. Being personable trustworthy and authentic will help you stand out. Love what you’re doing keep it up!
The small bottle idea is really smart. I'll give that a try next time Im out trying cologne. I have never been a fragrance guy, but I did find a $10 one from Marshalls that was a surprise
Great vid. I’m getting sick of these other fragrance channels talking about fragrances that cost upwards to $1000 like Boadicea as if everyone got that type of money to throw away when they get bottles for free from the company. Then here comes the clones. One vid they saying this clone is the best clone for x designer fragrance then here come 300 more clones being labeled as the best clone for the same designer fragrance. It’s just too much. Wish someone had a channel that told us flat out the best clone and I’m mean literally the best clone for the overpriced fragrances.
great video, I just got into the fragrance rabbit hole and I blind bought BdC EDP and I love it, I know its generic but you cant go wrong with it as a first buy. Def gonna buy testers, want to get a nice and simple collection of full bottles
The thing with fragrances is any decent smelling fragrance can garner compliments because the majority of people maybe only wear deodorant, and keep a fragrance only for special occasion. To this day Antonio Banderas Blue Seduction remains my most complimented scent, and I have designer and niche fragrances that fragcomm hyped up but they don’t get nearly as many compliments.
amazing video man…as a collector i can relate… Partial bottles can be a game changer if you want a bigger collection. And in case its a partial tester then its cherry on cake. These days i am shifting towards niche from designers as most of them are sweet and watery made for pass pleasing. Recently bough khamrah, smells like niche quality which is crazy
Crazy how, aside from smelling and looking up as many different fragrances as I could find, the opposite worked for me! I started with smaller bottles within my preferred families to see how I'd adapt to each one, and I'm happy I did, because by now I have clear favorites. Happy shopping!
When I used to have a fragrance or two I would get 100 ml. Or perhaps if I intended to use one every day like Profondo in my summer holidays, I got the 125 ml. But now that I have many fragrances I get 50 ml or 75 ml tops. They don't get empty quickly since I rotate them anyway. And yes I have a lot of samples too. One can go to a Sephora or something a test for free but I guess it's not always easy or you want to try a niche fragrance so you have to get a sample first instead of giving more than 300 dollars for a blind buy of a weird oud scent.
Great video - thank you! Sample, sample, sample. After 30 years of wearing fragrances, I've divided my fragrances needs into two categories - warm/hot weather vs cool/cold weather. Now I have a few in each category. I have a mix of Niche, designer, and clone. I'm covered.
Im a guy. And my only perfume is Fracas. Never had a problem. Everyone around me loves it too. Its loud and heavy but you just have to know how to wear it. Only full wear it on special ocassion. Like overspray. Like 3 spray is already overspray. For everyday i just dab one on the back of my neck and one on the back of my hips. Add more accordingly. Wear what you love. But know how to wear it. 😊
damn, just the vid i need, was getting hyped over a perfume and given that its a 100ml bottle, it will last an eternity for me too 😂. thanks for this vid. The most practical way is getting some decants and variations to try out different fragrances.
The good thing is, you can always sell your fragrance that you no longer love for a new one I sold my Bulgari Wood Neroli because I rarely have daytime outdoor activities now, and use the money for 1 million elixir because I'm more active at night or indoor
last point is the most important. people get caught up in the hype of designer names when there are so many better ones for half and less that smell 100x better
It's a bit tricky to rely on the listed notes of one fragrance to get a sense of another but as an absolute beginner it's OK. It works better for scents which are predominantly one note, like I got a sample of Ombre Leather for leather. I really wish there was somewhere you could go to test individual notes/aromachemicals, otherwise it's a bit of guesswork.
My collection currently only consists of 7 perfumes, 3 being blue fragrances, 3 sweet fragrances, and 1 clone of a niche perfume. Would probably only purchase another bottle if two were to run out. Glad I got to stop before purchasing and kept on blind buying.
Something I just noticed after having about 50 fragrances was that they might go bad/ expire over time since I won’t use them up. Do you worry about this? Also it might be a cool video idea lol
The point where he says that taste in fragrance changes over time and swaps in Bentley Men absolute ❤… Got that beautiful fragrance delivered yesterday and I guess now my journey is almost complete!!!
Sample is big. My way is buy 2ml, if i empty that then buy 5ml. If i used up 5 ml in 1 month then buy i buy full bottle. If that 5 ml is still in my collection after 3 months, then i don't love the fragrance enough to buy full bottle.
I literally did go crazy one day and trashed/gave away a 30+ bottle collection. But it was 10+ years ago in high school before ppl did this goofy online research. I simply bought stuff I liked.
i need the best fresh fragrance thats not overused by like everyone guy. im looking for a blue-green one that can be used all seasons. no eros please🙏🙏🙏🙏 any suggestions?
Just think and not blind buy. I just buy 4 fragrances like this and my biggest deception is immagination lv, it’s just soap in a bottle. Really nothing special, just good quality, that’s it
If I had to start my frag collection, I would not be a collector anymore I will just buy a freshie(cdnim), a winter frag(zimaya sharaf blend) and a date/formal (lattafa ofg) frag thats it you are good to go for just 80$
If I had to limit my collection, it would be to Fahrenheit, The One, Sauvage, Ombré Leather, Black Orchid, and Nautica Voyage. I’ve tried dozens of little sampler sizes and most were unimpressive at best, and atrocious at worst. Most colognes and perfumes are utter garbage.
Just depends! A lot of good fragrances are too niche for places like dillards, for example missoni wave which is one of my favorite fragrances I haven’t ever seen in a in person store, but most designers are at the store to sample, so just depends on what you are looking for!
The prada fragrance shown in the video and tn is probably one of the worst purchases I ever had. Almost 100% of people ive asked has had a negative opinion of the smell.
Honnestly, the best advice I would give you is to check niche. You mention it yourself “high quality fragrances”. Learn to know different brands and styles (and with styles I don’t just mean floral, citrus, etc. But also indie etc. Because in my case I was always underwhelmed with the cliche niche brands like pdm. But they might be perfect for you). Buy a few bottles you love and wear them. Now you spend 1000s of dollars on cheap fragrances. There are definitely great designers, but the cheap clones I’ve smelled are… cheap clones. Ok big brands spend money on bottles and marketing etc, but the stuff in you detour noir bottle is not the same as Layton. It’s a cheaper clone and it will smell and behave like this. All the “smells 90%” as… is bs to me. Kamrah smells sickly sweet and has zero of the complexity and refinement of angel’s share imo. Perfume is a complex art meant to be enjoyed, not to just keep throwing your money at and have as many bottles as you can on a shelve.
Bleach water inside your dior sauvage that’s crazy. For real I made the same mistake with a niche fragrance got sugar water not even worthy to be used in the garbage bin 😂😂
100ml is best value for money in general, but if you have a good basic foundation of fragrances like fresh and clean winter summer, then any spicy fragrances are unusual ones I’d recommend getting smaller size
U buy one looking at these reviewers. It'll end up not like u expected, and u buy another one, and that keeps going on and on until u are broke 😂 Golden Rule- Don't start 😂
My strategy: I watch several reviewers doing the same fragrance and the one that seems more trustworthy, I’ll buy. If I figure that we have similar tastes, it’s a no brainer.
I like my collection as of rn it’s not the best nor the worst; savuage EDT, Chanel EDP, Hawas, legend spirit, and a clone of SWY, i buy what I like as of the notes like he said. Don’t follow the trends, I barley use hawas because it became a trend

I've never bought a bottle of "fragrance" in my life and gave away any that were given to me for birthdays, Xmas etc etc, horrible pointless waste of hard earned money
HAHAHAHAHAH, you know to some degree I do agree that if your money is hard earned, fragrances should probably be one of the very last things you consider buying😂
When you relate fragrances to getting dates you lose credibility. Your content seems good but that kind of shit ruins it. Either be totally authentic or be a shill like everyone else. Or trying to straddle the two is even worse. Rest of this was very good
Here's my number one tip for getting compliments on your fragrance: be good looking
Not necessarily 😂
Or look so bad it shocks people that you dont smell like horse ass! :D
Did you just fall out of bed?
To clarify, I'm not commenting on the person in the video lol. But I think hunting for compliments with a fragrance is sort of pointless. If you wear something that smells sort of good and someone likes you, that's probably all you need
