As Executive Platinum on AA, I fly monthly to PDX, through DFW from the Midwest…. HORRIBLE experience almost every single time. Last time was flight cancellation from DFW to PDX… 10 HOURS at DFW for the next flight as they kept getting delayed… Then on the return, got on the plane in PDX, sat there and pilot announces a mechanical issue that requires the computer to be rebooted “SHOULD ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES”…. 90 mins later sitting on the plane, told to get off and wait at the gate… ANOTHER 6 hours later, I have missed all connections and required to spend the night at DFW… I immediately walked over to Delta and booked a 1 way home getting me in at 11pm. After this year is over, I am switching to Delta and not looking back.
Take Aadvantage of Delta matching tier program, if they still do that. I think it will not match your Executive Platinum 100%, but you should rank quite high.
@@sax_cy sometimes you don’t have any better options to get to your destination especially if your someone with status. You often get better offers and deals the higher you go up. We flew American last week from Chicago to LA in first (Business class for most airlines but sold as first) and was pleasantly surprised it was a 787-8, great crew, food, service, drinks etc no complaints from me
Was there ever an expectation for AA to be a good experience? Given my expectations, I'd honestly be happy and totally impressed if I just got to my destination with my luggage on a direct flight. On a really good day, maybe at least one of the flight attendants wouldn't be visibly pissed off about being there.

Kinda sucks they locked the windows! I fly AA J transatlantic quite often and the crew got explicit instructions not to do it anymore, which in my experience they never do anymore. I agree with you, food and service is always very hit or miss, I've had excellent crews and more grumpy ones. The amenities kit has also gone down since COVID. But the seat is quite okay!
AA has been been going down the sewer for a long time. The Skylink at DFW is great, especially when you have a long walk from one concourse to another. I love your candor about their service - pretty much reflects my experience.
Just flown Dublin Charlotte in Flagship business. Talk about being underwhelmed it’s definitely the Ryan air of business class products. AA really need to up their game. Back to Q Suites In January
@@PaulSmith-db7yz Sadly, not all airlines enjoy the cushion of state ownership which is why a Q Suite can exist at competitive prices. Etihad, Singapore and Emirates all enjoy the same state-owned funding. The average capital-driven consumer ignores the uneven playing field assuming it's free-market all around when it's not. That certainly doesn't excuse a poor product or service but it can explain why there is such a differentiation.
As a current resident of Texas, Dan hit the nail on the head. "American Airlines is very Texan. They're the biggest, I guess." That sums up living in Texas in general, and that's reflected time and again on the service provided by AA (and Texas' other airline, Southwest). When using US carriers, Delta, JetBlue, and Alaska are the best options.
What sums up living in Texas for me is it's the place I was born and bred and the place I love. I've drove from Dallas to South Padre and from Dallas to El Paso and it's definitely big. I've seen a lot of beauty. We have beaches, mountains and forests. I wouldn't live anywhere else. I flew to Rome in 2017 on American and I didn't have any major issues. Southwest was ok when I flew with them too. I'm planning a trip to London in 2024 and I'll probably go with American. We'll see how it goes then.
I just flew American for the first time in August and was lucky to get a round trip first class for under 400. When I flew out of DFW, they changed gates twice and we were delayed due to the flight crew being delayed from previous destination because of weather. The flight service was good and I was thrilled the attendant essentially made two Bloody Mary’s for me. I’ll try them again, especially if I get the same deal.
I think it's worth mentioning that some of the best most luxurious airlines in the sky today also have the extra added benefit of being state owned and funded. This would include Qatar, Singapore, Emirates and Etihad. This means a country can decide to forgo profit in favor of that airline serving as the ambassador of their nation. So it's not always an even playing field up there and we're often getting a warped perspective. I've flown the AA business class product many times and while I'd prefer Singapore, Qatar and the rest, I can't deny that in terms of getting me where I want to go in comfort with the safety and reliability of a US based carrier, AA does just fine.
I always love how seamlessly you segue into the different info within your videos..and creatively to the ads as well. Today my favorite was about “Karens.” “Let’s go meet them, shall we?” 😂 A laugh out loud moment..ty! A consistently honest and enjoyable review!
I’ve flown with AA in their old Airbus A330 in business from Philadelphia to London Heathrow and I would have to say the experience was actually great. The seat was probably the first generation reverse herringbone seat and doesn’t offer as much storage, but still, not as awful as some kinda very exposed seat that makes you feel like you’ve got no privacy at all. The main course I’ve chosen was a fish dish and it was genuinely amazing, but not so much for the breakfast. The flight attendants were actually lovely, attentive and polite, though that might just have been my luck 😂 After watching Dan’s video, I feel like I’m gonna fly with them again for a quick hop across the pond from the East Coast. No FOMO at all and will be able to just eat quickly and spend the maximum amount of hours on my beauty sleep 😴
I chose to use our AA miles to get Biz Class on Finnair MIA-ARN for an upcoming trip. And even though a month ago Finnair suspended that (and other) nonstop routes to ARN and re-booked us for a day later MIA-HEL-ARN, we are still glad to be using our AA miles this way.
If you ever get stuck in Dallas, the Grand Hyatt that's attached to the airport in terminal D (make sure it's the one actually in the airport) has rooms that overlook the runway. You pay a little more for those rooms but for an AV geek, it's a delightful way to spend the evening, watching the flights take off and land :)
Thank you for pointing out the individual air vents. I can't understand how the manufacturers allow certain other (foreign) airlines to opt out of having them, it can make all the difference between relative comfort vs. sheer misery. Also, I understand that you need to order special meals, but for once I wish I could know how the beef turned out!
We were supposed to fly home from Madrid in the back facing 787 seats in row 1 but due to an equipment change, we were happy to fly with this configuration instead. There was a slidable privacy partition between our center seats that we did not use. We found the overall experience excellent including the food and service, but full disclosure we don’t fly premium that often and don’t really know what we are missing on the best airlines. The ORD flagship lounge in ORD was a highlight.
I haven't flown business class (yet), but I have started to fly for business regularly, and now that I'm passed my 6-months from hire date, international travel is likely to come soon too. I have flown premium economy to Europe for leisure a few times and I'd say I would never even consider using it for travel I'm actually paying for. When I fly for business I love hoping on any JetBlue Emb-190. Seats are comfy, good window view, and free wifi I can actually do business with while in-flight (read & send emails, schedule meetings, work on back-burner tasks if emails are slow etc). I'm not expecting a knock my socks off experience. I want to be comfy and have slight priority, but I'm not the CEO or COO yet and understand that. AA's international business looks like the product I would want for the international trips I'll soon take. I want the practicality and the chance to grab a few hours of sleep to not be too Jet lagged when I get there or when I'm on my way back. Lie flat bed, decent food and cheap wifi checks all the boxes. I'd always choose to pay for a premium economy ticket abroad on cash, and book a business class ticket with points for lesiure travel. It's the nice middle ground where I don't need to be in a meeting 45 minutes after checking into my hotel. I can pay to take my friend with me and not have to struggle, As a short tall person standing at 6'0 with long legs I don't feel bad when reclining my seat, most times I get to choose from the business menu, and have enough status to not worry about lining up near the boarding gate 35 minutes before boarding starts. I get 2 checked bags but only ever bring a carry-on and a personal item. I can use my Capital One Venture card for lounges, or discount lounge rates. Business class for leisure only makes sense if booked on points or if it's an ULR flight. In 2023 I know I'm flying business class at least once one-way, maybe for the year anniversary of landing my "dream" job, but until then prem. economy for me lol.
The newer 787-8 deliveries have a center privacy divider in these seats. The seat manufacturer’s automated divider for the 787-9 was constantly breaking, making it simpler to just decommission the dividers for now.
Dan, I have been watching your videos for the past 2 weeks every day now. The progress you have made with your editing and narration is insane! The way you use adjectives and how you talk about the features of the services is very educational! As an English teacher whose first language is Turkish (no I am not going to hunt you for roasting Turkish Airlines sometimes :D), I have to say I learned some new expressions and words related to aviation from you! Thank you for putting quality content on UA-cam. I wish you all the luck and success!! and all the rose scented hot towels with rose lokum :)
We just returned from Germany on American Airlines (Business Class to and from). The food on the way to Germany was bad but not as bad as the return. What they tried to pass off as a dinner entree was literally inedible. Neither of us could handle any part of it so we went hungry on an 11 hr flight. I forgot to bring snacks, so we were really hungry by the time we landed. Worst flight ever!
I think it depends on the international flight. I flew AA 292 and 293, round trip JFK to DEL in business and found it excellent. Food was good, bed , duvet and pajama set also nice. J class in a 777 - 300 ER seems much better than in a 787 Dreamliner. AA wins hands down over United on the US to Delhi route
I fly AA weekly out of DFW to ORD and always fly First/Business Class. I’ve become numb to the annoyance one is dealt with from some AA staff. Since the pandemic, gone are the Dreamliners, so the sole pleasure I would get from sitting alone by the window (I usually book at least 3 months out and get choice of just about any seat I want). The planes and bathrooms are mostly fair to good though. The staff though is generally subpar. It’s like they’re doing you a favor being there. I’ll occasionally get a superstar flight attendant though. I’m very low maintenance on flights. I don’t ever drink (unless I’m flying internationally) and keep to myself with my music or iPad. So, I fly AA for convenience, not necessarily by choice.
Really hope you’ll be able to do a review in the future on the Lufthansa a350’s “new business class” seats and compare them to the current below standard ones
AA is that one airline I always dread to go on, I recently went on a school trip to Washington D.C. and Boston, and our flight from Boston to Charlotte was fine.. but the flight from Charlotte to LAX was the worst, the seats sucked, my window was right in the path of the port wing navigation light, so I couldn’t even look outside without getting blinded by a red light, HOWEVER, on our United flight from LAX to D.C. was amazing! Our flight was given clearance to taxi early because the atc controller heard his granddaughter, was on our flight, but to be fair the aircraft we flew on was a 787-9 so it was basically a “dream” to fly on
Dan the sarcasm in this video had me laughing so hard 🤣🤣 some parts I couldn’t tell if you were serious or being sarcastic. Anyway ,I agree price point is not worth it for this product compared to competitors. Congrats on the 500k subs🥳
Dan, I’m a California transplant, I’ve been in NYC 14+ years now, and Dos Toros is great. I’ve never seen them anywhere else, but they are a chain, there’s one by Union Square.
I also have a friend that started with American airlines as a flight attendant she is dealing with all of these parents American airlines is trying to force these people to retire they won't and they're all miserable and they all hate their jobs American airlines throughout the whole us it's doing hiring events to try to find nice friendly flight attendants so I can appreciate what you're saying about all the kids my friend is having a hard time trying to create positive vibes and appreciate people to fly on American airlines keep up the great videos I subscribe
Hi sir I have been watching your videos for a long time now and I absolutely love your videos cause the quality of the videos keeps increasing every video
DFW is my home airport, I always go to the Centurion Lounge and haven't been in the Flagship Lounge yet. Thanks for that footage because I've wondered what it looks like in there.
Congratulations on 600,000 Dan! You have come so far very quickly! I watched a 5 year old video a month or so ago and I did laugh. Thanks for the great content! 🎉😊
I haven’t watched this video yet. I’ve only read the title and thumbnail. And I already think “yep! Not surprised”. A family member has been American Airlines executive platinum member back in 2010s and could tell that AA was slowly rolling back on the premium service. They initially started very well but he could tell some things were getting nickled and dimed that he eventually started thinking of swapping.
Thanks for your honest review It really does show that delta is best from the 3airlines in my opinion It’s kind of sad there isn’t any great big airline in the US or even in Europe. Also Dan do you plan to do economy week?
@@DronePhotography-yh5kr Ok Turkish is really good but technically it’s not a European airline . Because if you will live in Paris so you will not go to Istanbul via Turkish to JFK Air France is ok but when you compared to a southeast or some East Asian airlines it is not that good. Even if you will compare it to the Middle Eastern airlines. Maybe European airlines are better in first class but I didn’t try it so can’t answer you for this class. And also do you think that that Jet Blue is a big international airline
Windows are dimmed or shades pulled on every flight out of Phoenix to keep the strong sun out of the plane. I travel between ORD and PHX 12-15 times a year and frequent flyers understand this routine.
Something happened on this flight because Dan seemed pretty bitter. Did the flight attended get on Dan nerves? I traveled on biz class a few months ago. Food was wine, service was friendly, and seat was confortable. That said I have never traveled biz class outside of U.S. carriers. I am sure I am missing out.
These seats look excellent actually, but I'm really not a fan of there being no privacy screen between the central seats. I totally understand if it you're travelling as a couple, but it's so far from ideal if you're a solo traveller with one of these carriers with this setup...
Good for you, because in the past 15 they have been hit or miss me, and mostly miss because of their groggy indifferent crew. I'm considering getting rid of my AA advantage card. I just flew LHR to LAX and they came across as they couldn't be bothered. As I went to use the toilet at the end of the plane/galley as they were all gossiping, one gave me an attitude because I interrupted the hen house. And that's aside from what they said about other crew members on the other aisle. Bitter ol' cows.
Hi Dan. You often show us how you pay for your flights, however, if you're a fulltime traveller how do you accumulate all your points. Love your posts.
Wealthy parents :) Even if you sign up for every bonus rewards card (like delta reserve etc) you still have to spend $6000 in 3 months and pay the bill in order to get 100k skymiles, etc. either you're flying a lot and racking up miles - or you're spending a lot which turns into miles. You have to spend a lot to get a lot. I just wish these youtubers would be honest. It's fine if his folks help him out - my folks did too. But I wouldn't pretend I did everything on my own. Be real Dan. It's ok to be real!
i so agree with you on the window dimmer. I experienced it once and hated it! I already get a little claustrophobic but I also want to film or take pictures or just enjoy the view.
Totally agree with u American Airlines!! Flew to Madrid from DFW back in 2020. Service was terrible, I never saw the flight attendant except for my meals! A thus was Business Class!! Also the attendant was really old who should have been enjoying retirement!! I never fly an American carrier again when flying overseas. My favorite airline now is Turkish Airlines to get me across the drink. They have great Business Class prices and the attendants are all babies! Istabul is also my favorite airport!
As a loyal AA customer who has status, I will say this about our flight attendants: they’re a hit or a miss. I’ve been on domestic and long-haul flights with fantastic cabin crew, ones that were just meh, and others that were completely edgy.
Always thought you had to have the blinds up during take off for safety reasons , how would the crew or passengers see if there was a fire or an issue with the engines or anything else that might be wrong
Great Video as usual.. but a small correction.. you said ALL international business class can access the Flagship lounge. That is no longer the case for South America. Had you flown to Bolivia directly not transfer through Brazil, you would not have Flagship Lounge access. Flagship Lounge access is now only available for routes that have Flagship seating and most AA routes to South America no longer use the flagship service. Brazil Chile do.. but Colombia Equador Bolivia do not. Just an update from a One World Sapphire that has taken these routes 6 times in the past few months.... Great info otherwise.
Its funny how everyone views airlines differently. I fly four AA (and AA sub carrier) flights a week, since the airport i fly into for work is solely provided by AA. I have been on this contract for work since last September, and with the random week off of travel for vacations here and there, DFW has been my mainstay for connections. I 100% agree with you on the AA Flagship lounge there; JFK is so much better. Otherwise, the distance I travel (sub 700 mile flights x 2 one way) means no meal service. 200ish flights over the last year or so, and maybe 5 or 6 cancelled or super delayed. Maybe one day I will actually get a meal on a flight, but in the mean time, ill enjoy my coke zero and rice cake style cubes. Love your videos and keep up the great content!
I've flown premium cabins on American Airlines long haul/wide body planes a handful of times. I would say that consistently at least 3/4 of the time, the cabin crew would be miserable, non-engaging, and just acted like they did not want to be there. I honestly have had better service from LCC economy class cabin crew. Once in a blue moon, you'll have one (I repeat, ONE, of the crew members) who makes any effort to provide any hospitality. Needless to say, along with the AAdvantage program revamp, I've decided to pull the plug on American and transferred my status and preference over to Delta. No regrets yet.
Dan, your characterizations of the FAs as “karens” without explaining how they warranted this toxic label is totally unprofessional. They looked at you funny? That’s your basis? You described not one issue with the service during your flight. Shouldn’t “karen” status be earned through one’s actions? As a professional travel reviewer, when you label someone you’re reviewing with one of the most unfavorable labels on social media, you had better have a good reason. I saw none on this video. You’ve got over 600k subscribers. You’re better than this.

I love the artistically done shade all throughout this video 😅
If you have no expectations you can’t be let down. That’s how I do it 😂
Love your videos so much. They give me life and feed my inner Sagittarius.
That's what I do too😂
Great piece of advice.
@@NonstopDan You do? Really? Every time? I remember watching reports where your expectations where somehow sky-high.
I love the shade Dan gave
"Hot temepered crew giving the hot towels" and not forgetting Karen
Many congrats on 600K Cant bekive ive been following you for over 5 years 😍😍😇😇
Brutally Honest Dan hard at work for us, as usual.
Thanks for this review. Did not think AA would be this great! Keep the reviews coming!
I flew first class to Honolulu in March . My experience with has been outstanding
It might be because I’ve only been on business class one time but I think the aa business is really good
I fly AA weekly out of DFW to ORD and always fly First/Business Class.
American isn't great but I have usually found the flight attendants friendly and accommodating.
I love that they control the windows on the Dreamliner!
Awesome job dan and what is next country ?
I love it when ignorant people try to give unlawful directives when someone is filming in a public place.
Keep filming, Dan!
Hi sir I have been watching your videos for a long time now and I absolutely love your videos cause the quality of the videos keeps increasing every video
It's so crazy you're at 600 going to 1 million!
Seeing that new terminal at LGA makes me even more excited for Terminal 1 to open at EWR. It’s long overdue.
So glad you visited us in texas for a short while hope you come back soon 🤠✈️
1:34 Is that a Mortal Kombat 2 arcade? Lol
Thank you for sharing you trips...It is pretty nice to see your video about flying..
Your content always entertains me when I’m sad or bored
Thanks for the amazing and complete video.
lovely flight i enjoyed flying with you
I had a friend who flew American last month and said exactly what you said.
Thanks for your honest review It really does show that delta is best from the 3airlines in my opinion It’s kind of sad there isn’t any great big airline in the US or even in Europe.
Also Dan do you plan to do economy week?
What about Turkish Airways, Air France, Swiss, and JetBlue? What are you talking about??
@@DronePhotography-yh5kr none of them are great. Singapore, emirates, now we are talking.
@@Jezzaaa3 They are. In fact, Air Frances first class seats are some of the best seats in the industry.
Like top 5
@@DronePhotography-yh5kr Ok Turkish is really good but technically it’s not a European airline .
Because if you will live in Paris so you will not go to Istanbul via Turkish to JFK
Air France is ok but when you compared to a southeast or some East Asian airlines it is not that good. Even if you will compare it to the Middle Eastern airlines. Maybe European airlines are better in first class but I didn’t try it so can’t answer you for this class.
And also do you think that that Jet Blue is a big international airline
I still say Delta is the best of the big 3. If you have to ride coach though, Jet Blue is the way to go, if they fly out of your airport
Cool video again Dan
So great seeing Oskar!
No privacy partition screen?!?!? Luckily for you, you had Oskar to look at!!!!
Totally agree, we customers should have the control of the window shade
Some great one-liners there Dan !!
Looks like I missed the entry date! Darn it! Thanks for the great videos!
I've heard nothing but good things about LGA since the reno. Makes me want to go to NYC just to see it!
It's amazing - like being in Asia or Europe. Modern, beautiful and efficient.
Windows are dimmed or shades pulled on every flight out of Phoenix to keep the strong sun out of the plane. I travel between ORD and PHX 12-15 times a year and frequent flyers understand this routine.
hey Dan where was that place/hotel...of you on the balcony drinking your Athletic Greens shake? It looks Fantastic!!
You are 100% allowed to film planes from inside the terminal and lounges. Would love to know which braniac told you not to.
Thanks for making these videos! Theyre wonderful 🥰
KDFW is my home airport. Always a pleasure to see my home airport in a video. ☺️
Can stand this guy contents
I have never had a bad time with American while flying with them for the past 7 years
Good for you, because in the past 15 they have been hit or miss me, and mostly miss because of their groggy indifferent crew.
@@bradleyscott6382 He apparently does investing
i so agree with you on the window dimmer. I experienced it once and hated it! I already get a little claustrophobic but I also want to film or take pictures or just enjoy the view.
The reason the windows are down , they use it to keep the cabin cool. it means the Sun can't break in and heat it up :)
CONGRATS ON 600K SUBS DAN!
Hope I am not too lar to another informative video with none other than yours truly... Dan he entertains and informs you NON-STOP.
Where do you get those great seat map graphics ? I’ve never looked further than seatguru.
Agree
Thanks for the vid!
I have never had a bad experience with AA, but also never had a great experience either when flying them.
I click “Like” first and then watch your videos.
Hi Dan! I love your videos. I wonder about the camera you use to make these videos.
I think I'm the only person who has good experiences with American. I'm looking forward to my flight from DFW to CDG on the 787-9.
Since I started flying AA in 1985, I have never ever been disapponted. Ok, some airlines are much better but I go from A to B and that`s it.
As a loyal AA customer who has status, I will say this about our flight attendants: they’re a hit or a miss. I’ve been on domestic and long-haul flights with fantastic cabin crew, ones that were just meh, and others that were completely edgy.
Was it super hot that day in Dallas? That might be why they "closed" the windows
Always thought you had to have the blinds up during take off for safety reasons , how would the crew or passengers see if there was a fire or an issue with the engines or anything else that might be wrong
They should be closed for take off and landing as well as having the cabin lights dimmed for safety
Thank you for the great videos. I really appreciate it
I've flown premium cabins on American Airlines long haul/wide body planes a handful of times.
Denver Airport is getting a renovation and the parts that they have renovated are pretty nice.
Great review as always ! Dan you should do a Delta A350 business class review! I would be very curious to hear your thoughts!
AFAICR, Dan's only Delta One reviews have been of their worst product (the 767-300).
Hi Dan a question!
When you bid for upgrade with Lufthansa to business from
Premier economy which booking class will be eligible???
Dan, your characterizations of the FAs as “karens” without explaining how they warranted this toxic label is totally unprofessional. They looked at you funny? That’s your basis? You described not one issue with the service during your flight. Shouldn’t “karen” status be earned through one’s actions? As a professional travel reviewer, when you label someone you’re reviewing with one of the most unfavorable labels on social media, you had better have a good reason. I saw none on this video. You’ve got over 600k subscribers. You’re better than this.
I never received my package from your website with the unicorn looking business class amenity bag. 😢
