@@emperortrevornorton3119 😆Definitely agree about Macho. I thought he added a lot to those commentary teams in the early 90s, whether it was a trio with Heenan and JR or just a two-man team.
It's still my favorite match of all time, in large part because of the storytelling by JR and Mach, and then the story The Kid and Hart told in the ring, just amazing.
I can believe it. The matches he had with Diesel were a good example. Say what you will about the kliq, but it seems Hall, Nash and Waltman had some of their best work against the Hitman. Good stuff

Bret Hart is the master of proving that going over and getting over are not the same thing. Truly the master of in ring psychology and storytelling. This is why he still is and always will be the Excellence of Execution.
He helped Waltman get over for sure. A lot of the old timers of the New Generation really wanted Sean to fulfill his potential, which with how good he was so young you could definitely say didn’t happen. Imagine he got clean when he left WWE and then went on to TNA and worked with a young AJ Styles?

And Waltman was a great young talent who 'got' the psychology of wrestling. Though he credits Bret greatly for being a teacher.
Was Jerry Jarrett booking while Vince was tied up with his trial? I know there’s that rumor that he was to take over booking if Vince went to the slammer. If it wasn’t him then I’d guess it was probably Pat Patterson booking during this time if Vince was preoccupied. I think this would partially explain some of the “high work rate” matches during this timeframe.

I was 8 years old, and I got permission this night to stay up and watch the match (usually I had to be in bed much earlier than to see the main event of Raw). My mom even watched it with me and said it was a "good match." Great wrestling memory.
Some of my favorite matches happened on TV and not PPV. I remember a Raw years ago where Bischoff was fired as GM, and the show had no direction, so it was basically filled with matches. Between this and WM13 you have two of the best matches of their respective shows and they both involve Bret winning the match and still making his opponent look like a million bucks.
Watching Sean's matches when he was 123 kid reminds me of how good of a wrestler he was and how sad that he stopped evolving during later attitude era, that led to him being a trope namer of X-Pac Heat.
I'm glad he kicked his demons and got out of that rut. He can still pull out the 123 kid of old and fans are starting to remember his career more fondly, which I'm happy for. The 123 chant he got in the Manhattan center during Raw 25 was well deserved.

Believe it or not, my introduction to Bret Hart and how he became my top 3 favorite ever was.. the first Smackdown vs Raw game. Which is kind of sad & messed how Vince treated him like he never existed, depriving younger fans of a great legend to cherish. When i got to play as him in the game he was awesome to me, loved his theme song, his vibrant retro look, his move set, he screamed old school wrestling to me and I was only like 11, i knew nothing of em before that yet he was all i could talk about to my friends & cousins when I started to look into him, he embodied everything i love about wrestling.
I remember watching this so clearly. It felt like Bret was never going to get it done and they had me gripped. The influences you have in life can be pretty strong and the lesson in sportsmanship shown here, both in having the match restarted and in celebrating the performance over the result, come rushing back whilst watching. Thanks for a great upload.
I watched this live and I remember being pumped as hell!!!you guys remember the classic Raw segments where they would hype the next week's matches? I can still picture them and Vince McMahon's talking. I rooted for the 1-2-3 kid the whole time. Even though I was a huge Bret Hart fan! Classic memories !got to love It!!
truly a classic. 1 of the first raw bouts I was able to watch in 1994... in germany, at the age of 12 (the 1st ppv I was allowed from my parents to watch was wm 10). kotr was also a highlight (with the vs owen-match)
This is one of my favorite matches ever! I remember watching this live with one of my best friends and we were on the edge of our seats watching this one. Amazing, incredible performances from both legends.
As a kid in '94 123 Kid and Bret Hart, were two of my favorite wrestlers. I ended rewatching this match about a year ago and I have to agree it's one of the best matches ever.
Give me as much Bret as you can create, the Hitman was before my couple of years stint with my son watching wrasslin during the later Monday night wars and the beginning of attitude, I enjoy your videos more than the actual matches. Your balanced view of something that was obviously a massive part of your formative years with a now mature reflective and informative narrative is quite compelling, oh and the dry humour is welcome too, Chin Locks for Life 🔐
@Wrestling Bios, the best story YOU have ever told so far in your UA-cam career, let alone the story that Bret Hart and Sean Waltman told in their legendary match. Congrats and keep it coming! (btw: Love the 'You Start the Fire' sampling at the end of the vid. Cheers m8'.)

I remember the first time I watched this, I was glued to my computer screen. I loved everything about that match. The in-ring work, the crowd being hot the entire time, Jim Ross & Randy Savage being on commentary. Literally one of the best matches in Raw history & one of my favorite matches from the 90s.
Great video. One of the best so far. Would love one on Owen v Bulldog for 1st ever European championship in Germany 97. So good and so underrated. Literally one of the best wrestling matches you’ll see
That is the best match I’ve ever seen. Saw it on the Hart family dvd wwe put out like 10/15 years ago or whatever and can’t find it anywhere now. Owen and Bulldog put on a clinic in technical wrestling that night.
I was only 6 years old when this match was on raw but I still remember when it happened on TV. I was already a big wrestling fan by then as my dad had me hooked from a very young age. I always loved this match
I called it battle of the wet looks at the time. Yes, truly a timeless classic this one, I've not seen a RAW match come anywhere near this. Probably the closest was Shawn against Shelton Benjamin.
Shawn against Shelton was awesome. I nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw that now famous Superkick that ended the match. I could watch that match over and over.
Wow ! I DO remember this match ! I hadnt thought about it in years though . Now I wanna rewatch it !!! I really liked Brett's match with Hakushi around that time too !
Great coverage of a great match. I'm no Hitman fan boy like you, but I am fully entertained by your absolute admiration of him. It definitely shows in all of your uploads where he's a subject.
I remember watching this when it happened and being absolutely glued. I thought Bret was going to lose at one point. Say what you will, no one had the ability to make both guys get over like Bret did. The amount of "I had my best match with Bret" guys there are is actually crazy.
This match is what wrestling is all about for me, it’s telling a story, full of drama , back and forth and moves and holds that actually mean something
It was scripted but probably Bret’s idea 💡 like the ladder match in WWE was Bret’s idea. Like going through at table against Diesel was Bret’s idea (Bret was the first in WWE to go through a table on PPV). It was Bret’s idea for Austin at WM to be busted open and lie there in the Sharpshooter for that iconic finish. Bret is the GOAT of professional wrestling. He has the best combination of character/ look (Sun glasses and black leather jackets), in ring ability (proper technician with the hard hitting Calgary style), in ring psychology, and selling. His weakest point was promos, but he did well at this as a heel. Still over all he is the 🐐
There aren't many matches that deserve their own video, but this was definitely one of them. The storytelling... the selling... the high-flying stuff... the false finishes... this match had it all. It could have been a Wrestlemania match. Obviously Bret was going to win, but this match had a "big match feel". It was hyped all night on Raw. And there were moments where you could genuinely think that maybe the upset was going to happen. It never looked like Bret had to carry the match. Waltman pulled his weight. Excellent video as always.
Who the hell said they are tired of watching The Excellence of Execution. The legend himself. The Best there is, the Best there was, the Best there ever will be. BRET “THE HITMAN” HART
I remember this one as a kid, I know it's just a Monday Night Raw, but back then it was still a new show and every show kinda felt like a main event. Maybe because I was younger and wrestling mad, but it was a great time to watch wrestling. Wrestling wasn't as big as it was in the attitude era, so many people often overlook some classic early-mid 90s matches
WB has just done a Bret Hart vs 123 Kid in analysis of this beauty of a match Don't ever feel you are doing too much Hitman as he never gets covered enough (especially in WWE for some reason) Great upload of such a magnificent match that still lives up to this day
Age-wise I'm definitely more the kid that grew up during the Attitude Era. But thanks to my dad I mostly watched the New Generation era on VHS, so Bret Hart became my favorite wrestler of all time and he still is. A master of his work.
The genesis of the Attitude Era was done at the hands of Bret vs. Austin in 1997, and sustained by Bret, Shawn, Austin and Taker until it grew into its own thing in 1998.
You can never get truly tired of appreciating his excellency Bret Hart. He truly had the jam. And he would routinely share that jam with his opponents.
Zero issues with more Bret Hart videos. It's awesome to go back and relive how good he was through different eyes. I was a young lad when I first saw Bret, now looking back, he truely was the excellece of execution.
Randy Savage was a mediocre color commentator all told, but his enthusiasm when he's watching a great match is infectious. It actually helps elevate the match. It's the same way for Bret vs. Mr. Perfect at King of the Ring 1993. It makes me think that if Savage just covered Bret Hart matches he might have been the greatest color commentator of all time.
Since bios has been posting these videos i have come to realise how good Bret really was. Iv read his book and rewatched a lot of his matches. He really is a class act. If you haven't read his book I suggest you do
One of the greatest examples of Bret Hart being a master of his craft. Bret was an amazing technician, but what made him great was he understood more than how to do some fancy move or sequence. He really knew how to make his opponents look good, even ones that were normally horrible in the ring like Nash. He could make any bum look like a million bucks and he didn't have to say a word to do it.
This match is one of the ones I point to as an example of great storytelling and that wrestling can be more than just big dudes play fighting to non Wrestling fans .
Enjoyed this, thanks. I only remember Waltman as XPac, have never seen him do a moonsault or senton before. His moveset back then looked great i loved the falling powerbomb and his kicks always were good.
I've tried to write my feelings, many times, to describe this match, who haven't seen it and I can't. All I can say is watch and learn. When Randy Savage gives this a standing ovation, it's special.
Another great upload of on my favorite matches!👌🏾 also, on one of your recent uploads, the 1998 King Of The Ring, I had pointed out that the X-Pac/Owen Hart match actually began the exact same way as their 1994 KOTR encounter at 5:07. I always thought it was pretty ironic that they swapped baseball slides on the other and wondered if it was an intentional kayfabe payback for the '94 KOTR on Waltman's behalf... Maybe I've always thought too much into it though.🤷🏾♂️
I was a huge Hitman fan in ‘94, but actually found myself rooting for The Kid 3/4 of the way through this match because it was that good of a match. An unexpectedly phenomenal match and I remember it like it were last week’s Raw.

You are very correct
Waltman was up there for Shawn, Bret, & Owen in those days he was amazing
Wrestling bios is the greatest wrestling channel on UA-cam . Thank you 😊
This is in my top 5 favorite matches of all times. For a feel good wrestling moment with two faces, you just can't beat it.
As soon as you said you thought people may be getting tired of the Bret Hart uploads I was expecting the Bret "shut up" gag.
Might be the greatest TV match ever. Absolute classic! Thanks for taking this apart for us, Brother!
You can never have too much content of the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be!
truly a classic.
Wow, a wrestling match that makes me feel things. It's easy to forget in this day and age that wrestling done right can do that.
A truly incredible talent, consistently putting on banger after banger and carrying many an opponent to a great match... Bret was pretty special too.
Hahhaha nice!!! Waltman is indeed so criminally underrated.
Roman could learn a thing or two
@@joen8529 Dude was never appreciated during his time either... I mean they coined a phrase after him to describe go-away heat
@@jimbo_1312 Exactly, booking and creative basically just had him betray Kane, steal his first girlfriend like a punk, and then gave him absolutely NOTHING to do except get booed as a lackey who couldn’t win without cheating or help. …And absolutely nothing otherwise creatively besides crotch chopping… Then gave him a weird faction with 2 guys who weren’t over at all, and the weirdest theme music imaginable… It was insane to watch, and it’s nice to see people are finally going back and showing some appreciation for this guy whose contributions and work were huge to the business!!
Absolutely one of the best wrestling matches I've ever seen. And Ive been watching since the mid 80s
You should do retrospectives on every Chris Benoit/Kurt Angle match. Each one is a work of art.
Good call.
It's always a good day when wrestling bios uploads!!! 💯
"His bath toys were a radio and electric toaster" 😂💀
Oooo, this is neat! I hope we get more videos like this.
Gotta give Bret Hart a lot of respect for asking the referee to restart the match after he counted The Kid down with his foot on the rope.
It was probably scripted that way…
@@jaystreet46 no
Was definitely scripted into the match.
Or whoever the Booker was for telling him to do that
It was scripted but probably Bret’s idea 💡 like the ladder match in WWE was Bret’s idea.
We will never get tired of Bret Hart uploads
WB has just done a Bret Hart vs 123 Kid in analysis of this beauty of a match
Don't ever feel you are doing too much Hitman as he never gets covered enough (especially in WWE for some reason)
Great upload of such a magnificent match that still lives up to this day
I forgot, one of the reasons i was getting worried that 1-2-3 Kid was gonna beat Bret was because Owen beat him at Wrestlemania!
I think it's cool that Drew McIntyre still narrates these videos.
You need to review Bret Hart Vs. Roddy Piper.
Now that's a killer psychology match to learn from!
It did
Seen a lot of good wrestling in my time, but this one is the holy grail.
No such thing as too many Bret videos. This one was one of the best. Keep up the great work!!
Austin in 1997, and sustained by Bret, Shawn, Austin and Taker until it grew into its own thing in 1998.
wrestling bios - the best wrestling content creator that is, the best there was and the best there ever will be
You can never get truly tired of appreciating his excellency Bret Hart. He truly had the jam. And he would routinely share that jam with his opponents.
He’s a jam up guy. 😎
Thank you, for this upload, I have also seen this recently too and I never get bored watching this match. All time classic match.
Since bios has been posting these videos i have come to realise how good Bret really was. Iv read his book and rewatched a lot of his matches. He really is a class act. If you haven't read his book I suggest you do
I've read his book many many times lol Always will be my favourite wrestler.
6:44 haha I don't know I found him kind of funny but I can see it getting old after awhile
Never too many Bret Hart uploads! Keep them coming
I'm a Bret fan for life so I'm all for more videos highlighting how good he was (and 123 Kid, a criminally underrated talent to this day)
This match is one of the ones I point to as an example of great storytelling and that wrestling can be more than just big dudes play fighting to non Wrestling fans
.
Bret Hart is the greatest technical wrestler of all time.
Man definitely my favourite match between these 2, maybe of all time. What a classic
I refuse to keep thins civil. Crank that chin lock!
This is amazing way bret put him over
I was a huge Hitman fan in ‘94, but actually found myself rooting for The Kid 3/4 of the way through this match because it was that good of a match.
An unexpectedly phenomenal match and I remember it like it were last week’s Raw.
This was an awesome match 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
awesome video. I remember you talking about this match in your new generation video. Fantastic to see a full breakdown
