- Some of the 13 officers at Meyerton Licensing Centre, in Ekurhuleni, arrested for alleged fraud in the issuance of driving licences are denying the allegations.

It's long overdue. Many individuals are unable to obtain their driver's licenses due to the unfortunate practice of officials demanding bribes. Even if one passes the required tests, they are often failed simply for not offering a bribe. This situation is a matter of serious concern that needs to be addressed.
People must be expelled and forfeit their pensions.

I am one of the individuals who passed a driving test in 2019 and the official who was testing me deprived me of my license because I couldn't afford to and didn't want to bribe with my last money💔💔💔🤷🏻

We are paying R3 500 in order to pass and get drivers licenses at Alrode Traffic department (Alberton) and Benoni Traffic Department this is what they are always doing

It took them decades to crack down on one license department out of hundreds across the country and officials at this one are probably still going to continue doing the same thing as soon as these guys leave . That's not SAPS doing their Job, it's "Filling the books" to fill an empty space . SAPS is extremely complacent trust me , I'm sure they have a capture and conviction rate of less than 10% . If you want to have an appreciation of how useless they can be, pay a visit to the police station to get something certified or an affidavit , especially in the township. I've never seen less customer care in my life , let alone serving civil society

Imagine issuing a fraudulent driver's license to someone then in a turn of events the person you issued a fraudulent license to (who doesn't know the rules of the road) fails to observe those rules whilst behind the wheel & kills one of your relatives. How would you feel?

In 2014 i was unemployed, i went on to work as a "dakaboy" to raise enough for license testing. Did everything right on the road and it was raining. Jikijiki in the office the guy demanded R1000 or else i fail. I pleaded with him, i had to cry until he heard my plea. These guys are cruel

When you arrest people, you need to put on gloves when touching the evidence(money), otherwise you contaminating evidence.
This is great, my daughter went 9 times because she refused to pay them. The lady and she had a fight because she told her infront of all the people that she did not even looked up in the vehicle she was on her phone the hole time but failed her. She wil not pay for her license. After that they all failed her 9 times, they will let her drive and park until she dit something wrong

The sad thing is that some learners are competent drivers who can pass their license easily but are forced to oay a bribe otherwise they'll be marked as failed many times over

I wish people didn't pay these bribes and mass-reported unscrupulous officials immediately but South Africans will give you all the reasons why it's okay for them to pay a bribe. Years ago when I re-wrote my learners there was a man from east euro who could barely speak English that had a licence from his country. Since that licence wasn't recognised here he was forced to get a South African licence. Unfortunately without any command of the English language there was no chance be would pass. Tried a few times and then eventually bribed. Admitted it openly before we all wrote. So this bribe was to eliminate other bribes lol.

I am concerned about the frustrating situation I encountered at the Sandton/Wynberg license department. I was asked to pay R250 just to collect my renewed license because officials were not working due to a lack of water. I chose not to pay, as I do not want to be involved in or condone corruption, which has a negative impact on our country.
This experience has broader implications that worry me. It is crucial to ensure that individuals who are unfamiliar with the rules of the road are not granted licenses. Granting licenses to those who lack knowledge and understanding of traffic regulations puts all of us at risk. The potential consequences on the road are alarming and simply unacceptable.
I sincerely hope that measures will be taken to address this issue and prioritize road safety for everyone involved.

Crime doesn’t pay, the high is what they seek, the high of spending big, short lived it may be, but the addiction is more seductive than getting caught. However, the legal system is so tied up with cases, the jails full, this bunch of corrupt public servants will get bail straight away, and be back in business tomorrow. Knowledge is power, selling the hows and where’s is just as lucrative.

Why they are not stopping. Here is the Maths: R3500 for license say for 20 people in one day = R70 000. There are 5 days in a week x R70000 = R350 000. Then there are 4 weeks in a month x R350 000 = R1 400 000. Now some are open on a Saturday for half-a-day. Do you think they will stop when what they are getting per month is more than their salaries?
