I would have to have a railing around the upper deck & insulation in the ceiling might have been nice *before* you put up the hardwood. Otherwise it looks fabulous.
For sure. I was thinking exact the same thing. How can anyone have a house where the sofa is close to the second floor edge. It can happen an accident and a person fall from there. This is outrageous.

At 3:33, the wooden support beam is anchored to the window arch with just four bolts or screws, and this wooden beam and just four steel bolts will be supporting the weight of the entire upper level floor. My first thought was that loft/lounge area is too dangerous, and I see a lot of others agree with me, secondly for me there is too much exposed wood, walls, ceilings, floors and furniture, makes me think of a holiday chalet. Also I would have liked to see the bathrooms! I am sure they did fantastic work, but it didn’t appeal to me, we are no longer living in the fifties!

Month of hard work, extraordinary skills and effort and all you have to say is: the rail is missing! Much respect for the different types of work that have been done!
In this video you can't see very well, but there's a ledge at floor level blocking the sofa. He made a dedicated video where he throws himself on the sofa and it doesn't move, thanks to the weight of the sofa and the ledge.
Nice watch..very soothing music and love the outcome guys. Only thing that bummed me is them not putting a railing on that upstairs landing for Safety reasons. 👍🏾
Very nice remodel of an old property with a beautiful scenic backdrop, but it would be nice if they would mention where this building was located, but you can tell by the electrical outlets and other things that this is somewhere in Europe.
Amazing video - although I would recommend watching it at 3/4 speed in order to better grasp the expertise & creative details. I learnt many good things here ... and a few bad things. Good: - Retention of as much wood as possible, and keeping it light / natural, rather than staining it dark - Utilities: fantastic upgrade on electric & water - especially using copper pipes rather than the garbage called PEX - Re-utilization and restoration of existing wooden beams / joists - Rugged, robust creation of cement support beams (horizontal & diagonal) with integrated rebarb - Phenomenal cabinetry fine craftsmanship - Behind the wooden stove vertical exhaust duct, keeping the exposed rock wall at about 2 feet width - very classy indeed Bad: - Windows with metal frames 😯 ... while these might be cheaper and require less maintenance than wooden frames, they are hideous to look at - and you get what you pay for - In the kitchen, overkill on the black slate ... that vertical backsplash would look a thousands times better with a creative pattern of smaller & bigger tiles - even translucent with a backlight - Upstairs tv room very cool, except without a railing, you are begging for a tragic injury
I would have put up a clear glass guard around the edge. That's given me the shivers like that. It's an accident waiting to happen. I also didn't see a staircase. However the rest of it was phenomenal and he did a lovely job. The views are stunning. Do you have any ones that show a more slowed down renovation. It's to quick for my eyes as well as trying to read the subtitles
Amazing job!!! and I thought I was the only guy left that new every trade. My favorite projects were building throughout the Caribbean in my 30s, I have three years before my daughter goes to college and off I go to do a project like this somewhere in Europe any suggestions? I want to be in some of the most difficult of craftsmanship to reproduce.
Nice job start to finish ! As for the plumbing a little less heat on the copper looks like you cooked them pretty good which can cause leaks.. and was wondering after that good plaster and paint job why dust it up with the sand blasting the wood on the ceiling...? Nice video 👍
Weight bearing upper floors without noggins? Ripping out and replicating is not renovating. It's basically cement boxes inside a bigger cement box now.
The fact that that guy has no railing on the upper level, and the furniture is sitting on the very edge is absolutely absurd! As long as it looks good, right
10:47- why add wood flooring, use that material for other utilities. 19:53-you should not have covered that wall it looked authentic...we notice you guys are really using excess material...The upstairs loft has no railing.
I hope the modification to the floor joists were approved by an engineer. Changing their direction completely eliminated any strength against bending forces on the high wall.

It's always nice to have a railing to grab as you fall over the edge!
For sure. I was thinking exact the same thing. How can anyone have a house where the sofa is close to the second floor edge. It can happen an accident and a person fall from there. This is outrageous.
Here in Germany the first official inspektion would close the whole thing because of static and missing rails. But looks great.

Who needs the Property Brothers or Chip Gaines when you know how to do the reno yourself. Great job! Amazing!
Not sure how you could have no railing in that loft. Seems like code would not allow it.

The upstairs loft has no railing. Seems a little dangerous. The couch is right at the edge.
the couch IS the railing :D
His house, his rules. Code is only for new buildings. No rules for doing stuff INSIDE existing buildings...
@@maksym_x I suppose so. I do think a railing would look awkward. I just hop the couch is heavy and won't slide back if someone jumps onto it.

Die Wärmedämmung am Dach fehlt komplett. Zumindest habe ich nicht gesehen, dass irgendwo mit Dämmstoffen gearbeitet wurde.
search Mickael Bimboes and you will understand why he doesn't put a guard rail, and yes there is insulation
If they had scaffolding on wheels with walk planks during the build it would have saved at least a few months. Alot of up and down the ladders.
