I bought one of those cheap aftermarket pumps for my own truck. It lasted about 3 months. I got stranded in Louisville, 5 hours from home, on a field service call. I should have known because the "water in fuel" warning kept popping up and when I drained it I found no water. The next morning I went to a hardware store for something and it died in the parking lot. Popped the cap off the fuel filter and turned the key, no fuel. Called the local Ford dealer and he had one in stock for $500ish. Called a cab and got a ride to the dealer and back. Swapped it in the parking lot and never had another issue. Luckily I was at a hardware store so I could buy any tools I didn't have.
thank you for your helping us I had same problem 2 month ago I used last light .replaced new pump work for 20 minutes then engine shut off never start again. checked again found bad connection. was open from inside caused heat and high resistances. current no flow
Hello! Can you post a video of what a good fuel conditioning module sounds like. I have a 6.4 and 2 6.0 trucks. They all make different sounds. Just doing some preventative maintenance testing with my IDS
man that fuel filter cap seemed like it was on there tight..I guess thats why you see after market oil caps too, because oil is changed more often than fuel filters and they get stripped out.
hi, when you said 5000 psi with scan tool, did u mean desired pressure? fuel rail pressure? or both? im trying to find minimun specs for fuel rail, i have a wont start problem w 5000 psi press desired and about 800 psi fuel rail while cranking w fault code P0090
Having a hard time with 6.4 2008 550. Crank no start. New low fuel pump, new high fuel pump, new injectors all from Ford. Change pcm from running truck. Flushed tank , bleeding it, all sensors are in check. Has been deleted 3 yr ago. Got good compression. 7000lbs rail pressure. Its just died after a one hr drive. It head a high pressure code to start with.No codes anymore. Motor will run checked with a little bit of silicon. Do you have any suggestions?
Gotta be careful using brake cleaner under a truck. Good thing it was windy, as brake cleaner fumes like to hang out underneath, and can make you a bit dizzy. Ask how I know. Nice job, as always.
Bill Rawlins where he’s checking for flow is before the high pressure pump. He’s not even getting fuel to the fuel cooler, so that’s definitely a low psi problem
Do not buy it. I own a 6.4 and it has cost me over 10k in repairs last year. It's currently a crank/no start in my driveway and I'm still paying on it.
I had a job 1 o8 with the 6.4, Felt a little sluggish when you just pussy foot around but if you stomped it it was like flushing a toilet! Thing ran like a scalded dog. Shame they had so many bugs with those engines.
i have a 08 f-350 and the vgt actuator doesnt move when the key is turned on . there is a 20 amp fuse in the fuse box in the engine compartment that keeps popping when key is turned on . the actuator isnt frozen as i moved it by hand . i used a scan tool and pulled a code P179A witch says its a acgtuator circuit malfunction . please help!! ?? Also did the fuel pump test and there is plenty of fuel getting to the upper filter again please advise me of ANY possible fixes ??
Tell 'em all the time but they just don't listen. I really starts at the place where they get their oil changed at. The tech gets the replacement filter (which has the cap made onto it) and fails to tell the customer that they are going to throw away the original cap because the new filter came with the cap. So a lot of customers have no idea until they want a Motorcraft filter put in it and then they are on the hook for a new cap.
:) Seriously though, it depends on what I am stuck with. If it's service work then I can bang out 8 or 9 cars a day, if it's powertrain work then it can take 2 or 3 weeks to get one vehicle done. Lots of things factor in, time to diag and or tear down, parts quote and availability, and customer approval, ect.
Hey I have a 2008 F-550 diesel Bucket truck. Some one tried to steal it and broke the piece where the key goes. I am able to turn the car with a screwdriver but when I go to turn it on it cranks but won't start. Before that it was working fine does anyone know what could be the problem?
Good work, maybe talk a little less ab pointless shit, like we all know that ford makes some shitty connectors and I’m sure no ones a fan but we all make that shit work one way or another, crusted up cooling hoses are 10 times more of a pain to deal with and if your removing any parts dealing with any kind of fluid, especially under the vehicle then you should expect to possibly spill some that’s the nature of the job.
Cornbinder engines SUCK. CHEEZY LITTLE JUNK ROCKER ARMS, PLASTIC RETAINERS. JUNK JUNK JUNK. S I WONT ALLOW MANY FORDS IN MY SHOP UNLESS THEY HAVE A HOLLEY AND HEADERS. MY SON IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ONE OF THESE SO I TOLD HIM--- BEST WAY TO FIX IT IS JACK IT UP AND PUT A CHEVY OR A DODGE UNDER IT. THEN IT WILL ALWAYS RUN.
You guys are a needed commodity. Keep up the great work. Thanks for the video 👍🇨🇦

A Favorite video of mine. Keep up the good work, Brad. Thank you!!
Good video, I like how you check for auction side restrictions ... most shops just fire it up and let it go....
Wish I could find a good 6.4 Super Duty Teck/Mechanic in my town 🇨🇦
Awesome stuff once again. One of my favorite channels!
Appreciate it
Excellent video. You made it look easy
Thank you sir, it's not too bad a job.
thank you for your helping us
I had same problem 2 month ago
I used last light .replaced new pump work for 20 minutes then engine shut off never start again. checked again found bad connection. was open from inside
caused heat and high resistances. current no flow
Where was bad connection at? Im having similiar issue
good to see some IDS work, very few really know all the ins/outs of it
ids is the only tool to use when diagnosing any powerstroke
love your videos man, keep it up!!.. and your less than a hour from me.. GO NC
I moved back when you mentioned brake cleaner just to be safe.....
lol
You make first rate videos of this kind. I'd pick you to work on my truck anytime.
What might have prevented this? More frequent fuel filter changes? Better fuel? 🤷
18:55 Thanks for think of us. I've got a good shirt on today and I do not want to get diesel fuel on it. :)
Thanks again for another great video!
Nice editing the way you have subtly added the bg music.
Hello Kinston , Oriental says hello.
Nice job great video thanks

Thank you sir! Another job done did and good to go! Lol... Does that same fuel bleeder hose trick work on a 6.0 drivetrain?
It's not needed on a 6.0L because air is not really an issue on HEUI systems as it is on common rail systems.
What kind of bleeder tool is that? I don’t understand how it works if you don’t mind explaining it , thanks
How did you hook up the lines to the fuel pump to check the vacuum when you took the test drive.
Great job!

Where are you working now? Still fixing diesels??
@@Prariedog I teach automotive at Pitt Community College. I repair diesels at a local garage during my off time in the summer.
Just curious, what's your favorite and least favorite Ford vehicle to work on?
Gotta be careful using brake cleaner under a truck.
Good thing it was windy, as brake cleaner fumes like to hang out underneath,
and can make you a bit dizzy.
Ask how I know.
Nice job, as always.
I call that a reward or a bonus
Please tell me what problem you see the most of on a Ford 6.7 L diesel
Make sure the what trip isn't switched...?
"spill your beer while you're driving" LMAO 😂
Got it. Thank you sir
Great vids!! Is there a expected life for the HFCM pump? 112K miles seems low.
Thanks.
It's hit or miss, but usually they last the life of the vehicle.
The whole truck life expectancy is 112k.
Well done
How did you know it was the low pressure pump vs high pressure pump?
Bill Rawlins where he’s checking for flow is before the high pressure pump. He’s not even getting fuel to the fuel cooler, so that’s definitely a low psi problem
what do you think of the 6.4 motor is it as bad as they say? one for sale with 150000 miles run great should I walk away from it? thank for the video

Hey do you know what normal cranking rpm is before starting. Just cranking ?
Did you still get that much fuel out of it after pulling the drain plug?
How much is it to change both fuel pumps?
What dishwashers is it jackson
Part of the job is to get duty
Watching that lift arm flex when you picked that truck up made me cringe think she may be a little under rated.
Yeah she is wore out!
Nice video. Did you have the chance to tell the customer to trash that "Napa" oil cap?
Tell 'em all the time but they just don't listen. I really starts at the place where they get their oil changed at. The tech gets the replacement filter (which has the cap made onto it) and fails to tell the customer that they are going to throw away the original cap because the new filter came with the cap. Exactly. New cap or new engine wish ever comes first.
how many repairs do you crank out in a day
At least one.........a week, maybe two if I'm lucky. LOL
flmmaz well then I don't feel bad.

What are you using to scan and monitor the live data?
Ford's IDS software
Ahhhhh the beeping of the IDS 🥴🥴😡

Diesel fuel in the armpit first thing in the morning. A great way to start a day. (:-
You know it! That or right before lunch.
What size are those bolts?
For a f350 2008 diesel
Guessing you get paid by the hour...
👌
6.4 cranks no start..*buy new truck
Bahahahaha
Roughly how much does a job like this cost? Parts and labor?
The pump is between 300 and 400 dollars and around 2 hours labor.
@@flmmaz Thanks for the reply👍
Great videos! Subscribed.
@@flmmaz about 1,100 dollars for my 2008
Love IDS, but it’s slow as balls
gas is cheaper there
