    I bought one of those cheap aftermarket pumps for my own truck. It lasted about 3 months. I got stranded in Louisville, 5 hours from home, on a field service call. I should have known because the "water in fuel" warning kept popping up and when I drained it I found no water. The next morning I went to a hardware store for something and it died in the parking lot. Popped the cap off the fuel filter and turned the key, no fuel. Called the local Ford dealer and he had one in stock for $500ish. Called a cab and got a ride to the dealer and back. Swapped it in the parking lot and never had another issue. Luckily I was at a hardware store so I could buy any tools I didn't have.

    man that fuel filter cap seemed like it was on there tight..I guess thats why you see after market oil caps too, because oil is changed more often than fuel filters and they get stripped out.

  • @HorsepowerHouse
    @HorsepowerHouse 2 роки тому

    What might have prevented this? More frequent fuel filter changes? Better fuel? 🤷

    • @flmmaz
      @flmmaz  7 років тому +2

      It's not needed on a 6.0L because air is not really an issue on HEUI systems as it is on common rail systems.

    Having a hard time with 6.4 2008 550. Crank no start. New low fuel pump, new high fuel pump, new injectors all from Ford. Change pcm from running truck. Flushed tank , bleeding it, all sensors are in check. Has been deleted 3 yr ago. Got good compression. 7000lbs rail pressure. Its just died after a one hr drive. It head a high pressure code to start with.No codes anymore. Motor will run checked with a little bit of silicon. Do you have any suggestions?

Also did the fuel pump test and there is plenty of fuel getting to the upper filter again please advise me of ANY possible fixes ??

    Gotta be careful using brake cleaner under a truck.
    Good thing it was windy, as brake cleaner fumes like to hang out underneath,
    and can make you a bit dizzy.
    Ask how I know.
    Nice job, as always.

    • @JC-dr8ev
      @JC-dr8ev 4 роки тому

      Bill Rawlins where he’s checking for flow is before the high pressure pump. He’s not even getting fuel to the fuel cooler, so that’s definitely a low psi problem

  • @prospexican
    @prospexican 2 роки тому

    hi, when you said 5000 psi with scan tool, did u mean desired pressure? fuel rail pressure? or both? im trying to find minimun specs for fuel rail, i have a wont start problem w 5000 psi press desired and about 800 psi fuel rail while cranking w fault code P0090

    Hey I have a 2008 F-550 diesel Bucket truck. Some one tried to steal it and broke the piece where the key goes. I am able to turn the car with a screwdriver but when I go to turn it on it cranks but won't start. Before that it was working fine does anyone know what could be the problem?

    Nice video. Did you have the chance to tell the customer to trash that "Napa" oil cap?

    • @flmmaz
      @flmmaz  7 років тому +3

      Tell 'em all the time but they just don't listen. I really starts at the place where they get their oil changed at. The tech gets the replacement filter (which has the cap made onto it) and fails to tell the customer that they are going to throw away the original cap because the new filter came with the cap. So a lot of customers have no idea until they want a Motorcraft filter put in it and then they are on the hook for a new cap.

    • @mikekelly9925
      @mikekelly9925 7 років тому +1

      Exactly. New cap or new engine wish ever comes first.

    • @flmmaz
      @flmmaz  7 років тому +2

      :) Seriously though, it depends on what I am stuck with. If it's service work then I can bang out 8 or 9 cars a day, if it's powertrain work then it can take 2 or 3 weeks to get one vehicle done. Lots of things factor in, time to diag and or tear down, parts quote and availability, and customer approval, ect.

    Good work, maybe talk a little less ab pointless shit, like we all know that ford makes some shitty connectors and I’m sure no ones a fan but we all make that shit work one way or another, crusted up cooling hoses are 10 times more of a pain to deal with and if your removing any parts dealing with any kind of fluid, especially under the vehicle then you should expect to possibly spill some that’s the nature of the job.
