I see it in the fb groups. A year ago, when someone bragged about a great find, everyone would congratulate them. Now they treat them like a thief (unless it was found at Goodwill). I think some people are just so stressed because of not finding good stuff that it makes them mad when you do. Jealousy is poison.
I have run into 2 different mentalities at yard sale that cause people to leave items. 1. Anything that doesnt fit into a poly bag. 2. They arent paying more than a few dollars per item. A guy at a sale with me bought a 25 cent knife that he could sell for an $8 profit, but passed on a camera that was marked $80 that sells for $325 because it was more than a couple bucks. I cant imagine passing up that kind of profit, but he was fine with it. Everyone has their own system and it helps everyone else's system. One person passes, another buys and that is why there can be so many resellers that are successful. If you want to completely clean out every sale you go to of flippable items, then people will tend more to scammy and scummy tactics because there is less to go around. To each their own. It's actually helpful.
Having done many garage sales in my life, sometimes the goal is just to declutter and clean out and get RID of stuff -- not caring what the value might be. The value to me at that point is reclaiming space.
i have been saying this about some people that do the sales sometimes its actual resellers that are quitting the game, people just wanting space and everything must go or even just people that honestly dont care about doing any research let alone take the time to sit on things while they wait for someone on eBay to buy it.
Something people don't take into consideration when they hear "I bought it for $1, sold it for $25" is the cost associated with bad picks, aka items that don't sell, expirations and breakage. Although not directly associated with the $1 item, the cost of the other bad buys/inventory write-offs factor into pricing too.
I started shipping bigger stuff. I’m getting better at it and I stopped worrying about the cost to customer shipping. I’ve been watching a lot of shipping videos which is giving alot of good tips
Here is a hint about how to pack something like those anthropomorphic snails with the fragile tope. Take a paper towel roll and put it over the snails head, leaving about a half an inch above the feelers, then wrap the whole thing in bubble wrap. I take one or two sheets long, triple fold them and end up with about six layers of bubble wrap. The feelers are totally protected by the paper towel roll piece. You might have to cut the bottom a bit so it fits snugly on the body of the snail, but that takes little time and it is worth your piece of mind knowing the snails will arrive safely. They should fit in a 6 by 5 by 5 box if I am guestimating the sizes right.
I always wonder about people complaining about us buying cheap and selling high. Do those people realize that retail stores pay Pennie’s for items and mark them up to outrageous retail prices. I had two yard sales when I moved in August and wanted to get rid of stuff. I encouraged people to make piles and make an offer. I’ve seen yard sales here that have beautiful vintage items but they don’t sell and couple weeks later I see them at the local thrift stores and goodwill because it was so overpriced. .
Half the time I see those items at the estate sale and then in the Ill Will, often with the estate price tags still on. Usually still overpriced and sometimes damaged somewhere in between. Now worth zero.
I've done extremely well with wrought iron furniture and concrete statues. Cases of spray paint and grinding wheels are cheap and people love old weathered statues.
Great timing on this video. I gave away an item that I did not want to deal with shipping. I checked ebay for sales comps. It also does not sell used so it was a good give away. I will stop being lazy. Thank you for the pep talk
I really like what you’re doing and how successful you are at it. I really wouldn’t care what people in the comments. Say if they don’t like how you buy the items then they should just not watch your channel.
I’ve shipped a 4’ tall ninja turtle, multiple portable TV’s,40 piece copper bottom Revere Ware pots and pans, full size glass lamps etc…If it makes me money I don’t care. I love the finished securely boxed up item money in the bank!
I tend to be afraid to buy larger items because of shipping, but I had a 1965 typewriter that I bought at Goodwill for $8 that I recently sold for $125. It was all about finding the right box, like you said. It was well worth it!
Don't be afraid to pack glass. The key is to wrap it really well with large bubble wrap, and give it padding with the same bubble wrap on all sides, bottom, top, sides..with no room for movement in the box.
Thanks to your advice to look for valuable Cassettes, I once bought one for 45 cents and sold it for $500! I have shipped delicate hand-blown wine glasses and large Ab Circle exercisers and made good money on all of them. You have to do what works for you.
Definitely not afraid of picking up larger items if the ROI and sell thru are good. I gravitate toward smaller items due to space constraints, but if I know I can 3-4x my investment, size doesn't matter much.
I hope your wife gets better soon, thank you very much also for all the advice and experiences you share... I am a ebay seller too 😎 And I've learned a lot from you, don't stop doing what you do,god bless you brother.
Literally started buying bigger stuff like vcrs and crt tvs a couple weeks ago and it's amazing how fast the sale through rate is for those bigger items
There are some UA-cam resellers preaching that the money is best of everything fits in the same packaging as everything else. There is a volume mentality vs a profit mentality that each person has to decide which works best for them. (We are a “sell anything if there is a profit” store)
As I'm watching this I'm packing a 32 volume book set weighing in at 70+ pounds. 2 medium Home Depot boxes, 16 books each and resized. Bought for 32 bucks, sold for 325. Worth it to me.
Storage Storage Storage I have very little that' one reason I typically stay with media because I can store a ton in a small area. Besides that If I do see something that will bring some decent profit and is big I start thinking of where I can store it for a bit.
Happy post Turkey day hope you all had a wonderful time! Kevin don't listen to those people complaining! You have a outstanding business so just keep on picking! You are a fair business man with people! Have great week!! JIMBO
Toughest thing I have is finding the item in my storage area. Shipping is easy once you figure out how things work. I sell alot of the same types of items so it is just the matter of keeping up with orders. Do your own thing.
Garage sale sellers - they're adults - there is nothing stopping the garage seller from researching on ebay, listing their item on ebay, shipping it out. They don't want to. Give them the credit for knowing what they want and don't want.
The squeeze is on , they can’t control reselling so they placed these platforms because then all they have to control is you, then the reselling dies….
Hope Heather was feeling better for Thanksgiving. I have never passed on items based on size or weight, shipping isn't a problem for me. However, I will almost always pass on clothes because I hate listing it.
Wishing a speedy recovery to BRM! I don't mind big items... it's like you said.. just get a big box. My least favorite is clothing. Back in the day, I use to model all the clothing because I would get a higher price when people could see what it looked like on someone, but that took forever! Now, I only do a few select items, it doesn't seem to matter as much, but I still don't like listing clothing. I don't know why. It's easy to ship, but I don't like it. Fortunately, I need a lot of costumes for shows so I have a reason not to list clothing. ha :)
I had my daughter model some vintage clothes. She looked so cute in them, but wow….she was so irritated. Ha ha ha. She is a teen. I had to crop her head out of the pics. I had her wear some cool shades too. Awww… well. Definitely having a model helps to sell the clothes faster, but I’m not a fan of measuring them either.
I buy large items and just post it up on offer up here in Miami Florida..i have over 4 million people between Miami and Ft Lauderdale to sell to..no fees and no shipping..just meet up..im lucky i can do this because of my heavily populated area i live.
I've found those sales where "It's worth $XX.XX on eBay and XX.XX retail, so I want XX.XX." If the price is too high, only the end buyer wants it, and that end buyer may be 500 miles away. Sell things for what it's worth NOW, people, not the pie-in-the-sky end buyer value. (Do they listen? If they did we wouldn't be talking about it.) If it's being sold because someone wants it gone and a reseller gets a deal...works for me. I have strict, as in written in stone, medical weight limits along with storage restrictions; I don't buy things I can't lift . If it's over ten pounds I can't even touch it. If it's over 5, forget carrying it more than 10 feet. It's one reason I had to get out - only the bigger stuff is still being sold at reasonable prices with an consistency at all, and I can't even touch them without risking surgery again. Feel better, Blue Ridge Mama!
Can’t ship big stuff when you live in Hawaii. The shipping for us is crazy! Lots of Hawaii Ebayers have had to quit. We still do good but just keep it small (under Priority box size) or clothing. Like your video, thanks!
If the customer really wants something you are selling, don’t let your location hold you back. I’m from Kona, Hawaii. I once sold a large Primo Beer vintage advertisement board with vintage glass (the kind where you can post announcements) and the customer lived in San Francisco. He paid for the shipping from Big Island to SF. It cost the customer about $400 - 500 to ship. The crating of it was a pain, but totally worth it. Sold it for $1600. My brother traded some vintage bottles with the store owner for it many years before I sold it. It was a nice profit. I’ve shipped large size plush toys also equally a pain to box. You definitely get creative. After wrapping up a large size lion, it looked like a chair since I had to piece together boxes. lol! Thank you for your helpful videos. Always enjoy your insights, CWP. Hope your wife is feeling better.
Get well soon BRM! 🤒 My limitations are no brains when it comes to gaming systems/games so I skip probably tons of profit but neither my hubby nor I ever played them 😾
Ok now, Kevin, you know if they found a deal like the ones we find, they'd take it as well. Don't let the angry haters win. They lost, and no one likes to lose. Keep doing what you do, my guy. Show me what sells 🙏
I sold a gorgeous Ducks Unlimited copper waste can . I knew when I picked it up - it was a good free pick. And my amazon loving neighbor lets me have his boxes. I’m Old Dominion China
Kevin you stay being you and forget the Karen’s and the George’s who have nothing better to do with their lives then put others down! They are just jealous
1. Too big for me to resell - Furniture, Bicycles (unless facebook), Appliances larger than a microwave, Skis, etc. 2. Almost too big for me but still do - China sets, Subwoofers, Amplifiers, Televisions. Today I shipped a Bose speaker set with sub-woofer, amplifier, side speakers and cords. Box weighed 46 pounds. The set cost me $30 and sold for $130 plus shipping. Tomorrow I ship a large Lionel O-Scale model train set. 34X24X12 box - Paid $25 and sold for $150 plus shipping. Good Topic!
Limitations on space. I box my items before they sell, which leaves less room to store things. I have an abundance of inventory because shopping is a little funner than listing (except when I hear the cha-ching!). I also sell at in person events. So, there's a little more inventory that sits around.
My problem is I sold a bigger item 6 pieces it weighed kind of a lot but not a lot of money. I messed up. I need to buy/sell big items like your trash can. Good money in it
Hello Kevin, had a quick question. With inventory that hasn't sold and you want to write it off, how do you go about doing that for your store? Thanks for the videos. 🔥 Also hope the old lady feels better asap!
I’ve been collecting my whole life. The very thing that gives me the most joy in life is finding things that are cool for a low dollar value. The reason being that I can get more things that way. Someday I intend to sell my collections. I would also like to transition into buying and selling when I retire from my normal job for extra income because the hunting is what makes me happy. The fact there’s stigma attached to this is concerning to me. I don’t really understand why the day I start to sell is the day I become a bad person. It’s silly.

Good morning Kevin hope your family had a great Thanksgiving think the minimum on the trashcan for me for buying it at a dollar would be $30 area but that would be a maybe depending on condition and sell through rate, if $40 and above, definitely yes
Kevin, I would pay $20 for that garbage can and sell it for $100 in a second, to me that's not a big item, I sell large items regularly and know it can be a pain if you have to make a box, but I also know there are larger profits in larger items. I'm not afraid to pay up for an item if I know the profit is there. Good video topic, sometimes I take the easy out and sell it locally on marketplace if I decide I don't want to ship it. Hope the Mrs. Flipper gets well soon.
I am a full-time reseller for the last 16 years. I would pass on that trash can and just about 80% of what you chose to sell. Not hating, do what you like. Just making a true statement.
I think, nobody has any obligation to sell or buy anything at a specific price. There is a misconception that a garage sale = lower prices. If someone wants to sell something higher, that’s up to them. Nobody has to buy it. But, there might be that one person who wants it, but doesn’t want to pay shipping on eBay, and buys it at a garage sale….same thing for buying, if I can get a deal, the value is irrelevant. If the seller at the garage sale agrees to a price, there is nothing wrong with buying it at the agreed price.
I sold a gorgeous Ducks Unlimited copper waste can . I knew when I picked it up - it was a good free pick. And my amazon loving neighbor lets me have his boxes. I’m Old Dominion China

Why value their crappy opinion? Seriously so many people are envious but it's not our problem.
ITA jealousy is poisonous. Envy is listed as one of the seven deadly sins for a reason.
I agree

It does make sense to pass up large slow moving items if you can fill that space with more profitable faster moving smaller items.
I'm skipping bigs as I just don't have the room. Trying to think smaller than a bread box LOL. If I had more room I'd love to do furniture.
Happy post Turkey day hope you all had a wonderful time! Kevin don't listen to those people complaining! You have a outstanding business so just keep on picking! You are a fair business man with people! Have great week!! JIMBO

Take care of yourself brm, you're the heart of this family and very loved.
if you barcoded each item from the time you entered into inventory through the sales date, you could have the software keep analytics automatically.

I tend not to pick up stuff that people can buy at the local Walmart (for example), NEW. I have a booth so any bigger items go to my booth.
Great sell today Kev & Wishing a speedy recovery for your lovey wife.

Good morning Kevin 😊😊
Good Topic!
Hope your Thanksgiving was awsome! Love and hugs! Leftover day!😊
Limitations on space. I box my items before they sell, which leaves less room to store things. I have an abundance of inventory because shopping is a little funner than listing (except when I hear the cha-ching!). I also sell at in person events. So, there's a little more inventory that sits around.
You sound like a terrible reseller
Its funny, most of the stuff that for you or others are “huge items” for me are the small easy to pack items 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s silly.
People should be kind! 😮
Yes they should
Kevin, what size box specifically do you use for a VCR? And where do you get those boxes? Thx.

Only reason I might pass on that trash can is because I am usually on foot no car but I know I would regret it
Good morning Kevin hope your family had a great Thanksgiving think the minimum on the trashcan for me for buying it at a dollar would be $30 area but that would be a maybe depending on condition and sell through rate, if $40 and above, definitely yes
I’ve shipped 50 60lbs old TVs. Yes I admit they are a bear to pack but they can bring hundreds of dollars in profits.
Do you ship the sweatshirt in a poly mailer or box?
Yes
15 into 80 can be had at thrift stores all the time.
Thank You!

What about puzzles?
I am a full-time reseller for the last 16 years. I would pass on that trash can and just about 80% of what you chose to sell. Not hating, do what you like. Just making a true statement.

Some people just feel the need to constantly prove their cattiness.
This guy always touches the things he sells 55 times while talking about it😂😂😂
Very good content
I think, nobody has any obligation to sell or buy anything at a specific price. There is a misconception that a garage sale = lower prices. If someone wants to sell something higher, that’s up to them. Nobody has to buy it. But, there might be that one person who wants it, but doesn’t want to pay shipping on eBay, and buys it at a garage sale….same thing for buying, if I can get a deal, the value is irrelevant. If the seller at the garage sale agrees to a price, there is nothing wrong with buying it at the agreed price.
Please be a “DUCK”!! Let all the crap roll off your back. Stay strong and carry on!

How about this? Don’t reveal what you paid and what you sold it for? Then the haters don’t have anything hate.
I've never stared as much at a trash can (.)(.) 🤣
Sick dirty man. This is a family channel. This man's children are on this channel
@ Hey how did you know I was sick and dirty? You must have special powers or something.
I sold a gorgeous Ducks Unlimited copper waste can . I knew when I picked it up - it was a good free pick. And my amazon loving neighbor lets me have his boxes. I’m Old Dominion China
Only reason I might pass on that trash can is because I am usually on foot no car but I know I would regret it
You already said that
