When a gamer buys a game he owns it, because he paid for it. He should just be able to play it in any capacity he wishes, on any device, with or without internet. If a game gonna get shut down in the future at least make it upfront: Hey this game depends entirely on internet so you're actually buying an access token and not actually own the game. Do that and I'll still be happy.
@@henkweeds1498 That's how most things go. Not at GOG, and sometimes games released on Steam don't follow the rules. You buy those games, you own it. and like I said before: just be honest and upfront about it. Buy what, the game or the license? Honesty is good.
I'm not going to argue against licensing music for racing games, I'm 50 years old and very out of synch with what's popular these days in terms of music, but the last racing game that had any pop music whose absence I would care about personally was Project Gotham Racing 4. Aside from when racing games have classical music stations, I generally play modern racing games with the music turned off and instead listen to whatever I want to in the background. But the racing games I play would still get delisted even without licensed music due to car manufacturer licenses (and, when applicable, race circuit licenses) expiring so my lack of interest in the kind of modern music that game publishers license for modern racing games is moot anyway.
Underground 2 introduced me to RIDERS OF THE STORM borderlands introduced me to AINT NO RSST FOR THE WICKED And midnight club 3 introduced me to Sean Paul, Peter Pablo and twista
I agree with your points... From Forza Horizon 4, I really liked the song 'Down to the Bottom' by Dorothy & looked her up on UA-cam & listened to all her music, subscribed & liked videos, because of a game. Also I wouldn't know an eighth of my car Knowledge without playing tonnes of car games, which led to real cars online & having favourites & preferences. One thing that intensely bugged me about this video though is the fact you were most of the time driving on the wrong side of the road, especially with the game being set in Scotland, UK.
I understand people wanna stick to their copies but you could argue LEGALLY that you owned a physical copy and made a digital backup. My point is piracy is the way to go. My PS3 has CFW and I can install any release ever in the world. As long as it got backed up, it's there. Games, DLC, demos, avatars, themes, etc. It keeps everything alive for when the digital store shuts and kills off many games. And we will lose many digital-only games. So yeah, piracy is the future.
Needs to be some sort of abandonware legislation, past 20 years of inactivity, should be accessible in public archives I’m glad the PC community has emulation and modders so we can play pretty much any games I fully support piracy if you make it hard for anyone to buy and keep your games
Why auto manufacturers don't give perpetual licenses makes no logical sense. They get paid and have agreed to how their vehicles are being used in the game, so it's purely based on greed.
What a fantastic opinion piece! Including the everyone-doing-SUV now. Also glad you mentioned Toyota. Back in the days when I used to work at a gaming store, It´s been hard to explain to customers why Toyota isn´t that much available in modern racing games (Also one of the reasons why NFS Underground won't ever get remastered).
I wish video games could have the same licensing as movies you don’t see movies getting pulled from stores and streaming sites to my knowledge like you do games that live pretty much in dog years.
Soo glad i still have FM3, FM4, GRID and Colin McRae DiRT on physical copies 🥰 it makes me sad they aren't being re-released on the current marketplaces
The final nail in the coffin is expired licensing properties in video games, especially the music releases by major artists from big record labels such as UMG for instance and licensed real cars from automotive manufacturers.
modding, piracy, emulation, jailbreaking, homebrewing, packaged console games, you name it... whatever they try it's not going to work, we will always find a way to play our favorite games

Assetto Corsa on PC still going strong and keeping fresh is due to Content Manager and the multitude of mods and shaders and got released nearly 10 years ago.
Seriously..to be honest..I don't care that much if the music that is in games is from big artists or not. I am loving it don't get me wrong and I got the point of what you where saying with discovering artists/bands/djs that you fall in love with. I discovered The Prodigy through NFS Most Wanted 2005, they were also in Hot Pursuit 2010. Skrillex was in Hot Puirsuit 2010 as well if I'm not wrong..but he was 100% in Most Wanted 2012. Same with maybe some rappers or rock bands that I love. I can't remember now! So I get your point 100%! But If we really have to choose between music from big artists or licensed cars I prefer the second one. I love what Ubisoft/Ivory Tower did with adding music from Epidemic Sounds and such in The Crew Motorfest (even if they have music from big artists too). Trust me..there's a lot of good music that is copyright free from Epidemic Sounds, Artlist etc or that UA-cam channel NCS (No Copyright Sounds). I have discovered a lot of really good electronic music on there. Plus..surprise..sometimes big djs/producers have released a song or two or even three through this label or whatever (NCS). An example is an EDM dj/producer in the subgenre of Drum & Bass (from UK) that I absolutely adore..Andromedik. Brooks is also a pretty popular EDM dj/producer (known in the House subgenre) that has some songs released through these labels that release copyright free music. So I would sacrifice having a song from idk..Eminem or Lil Wayne...in order to have the Toyota Supra licensed in a racing video game. Or in general I would take copyright free music so that they can invest more money into giving us real licensed cars. Plus having copyright free music in games is amazing for us streamers/content creators. Playing games without music in the background feels a little bit boring (at least for me). Getting back to the car stuff! :)) I like car games with real cars in them especially when we are talking about AAA games. It is a special feeling when you buy, customize and drive a Supra, a Skyline, Ferrari, a Lambo or a BMW, an Alfa Romeo in a game. For me it doesn't feel that special when I'm driving a fictitious car, a generic one. Maybe I can't afford to buy a Lamborghini in real life or a Nissan Skyline so guess what..I am able to experience the car in a racing game, in a car game and have fun with it there if I can't in real life. I get it that car brands want money because there cars are in games and movies (everybody would like tons of cash if it's possible in order to get rich) but aren't games and movies helping them? Because of games and movies there cars become known, visible to the world (to the masses) and some cars may become iconic and people will pay money in real life to buy them because they saw the god damn cars in games and movies. So...voila...free brand exposure for car brands. So my point here is similar to what you said in regards to your logo being in games. You get exposure and more people find out about the youtuber/content creator BlackPanthaa and they will start to look up for BlackPanthaa online, on Social Media as they become curious of who this guy is etc and eventually they may become his fans. Btw I'm a huge fan from Romania 🇷🇴! I have been watching your content for a few years now. I have discovered you through the videos about The Crew on UA-cam (the first game) and also the NFS videos. Also I loved the videos when you were going to the US to see Meadow or the ones with your first car, the Lexus IS200. Keep up the good work! Hopping to be as big as you one day! Such a huge inspiration! I really admire you!✌️❤️
Smartly, the devs can actually commission a composer to do the score for the game and then hire any artist to remix em in unique ways. That’s how it was done from Evolution Studio when they worked on Motorstorm Apocalypse and Driveclub. Or have both the score and the unlicensed vehicles which left it timeless to where there is nothing to expire for it to be delisted like Split Second for example as that game is still available to buy to this day on Steam and Xbox. If Criterion went back to Burnout and do this route where their artists can make any car they want and hire composers to make the full album score with collaborations of bands from rock, metal, and etc. along with edm, hip hop, and orchestra then that game would be set for life
They should start selling cheaper games with no licensed music in it. I always turn music off immediately. There's enough royalty free music for creators out there that they could use. Everyone else can fire up Spotify, etc if they want. They could even integrate the player into the game with some APIs.
If money wasn't an issue and Companies weren't as greedy as they are, they could do something similar to what Hi-Fi Rush did, under the guise of a "Streamer Mode" make a separate soundtrack that mimics the vibes of the Licensed Soundtrack, whilst being new music, and once the Licenses run out, realist the game with the Streamer Mode Soundtrack and preserve the game to be playable and purchasable in the future.
to be honest this might be an unpopular opinion, but they need to make it clear to the car manufacturers that they don't need them. take the cod route. imagine Forza where they dropped the need for licensed cars and just made 'close enough cars' like cod does with guns. imagine what rhey could do. even more customization, intricate damage models, all the things that the car manufacturers pitch fit about. make it so that at eol games can pull the music soundtrack and hook in internet radio stations or Spotify. hell, pay for smaller artists which will allow for their songs to be outright purchased for a game instead of year over year contracts. control the narrative so the next time deals are brought to the table, it's clear whose in charge.
Grid Ledgends is a fun playable game. back in the day used to love playing ridge racer and rage racer. also early grand turismo. went over to the xbox from playstation 3. got a few car games on physical copy. can pick them up at car boot sales or shops like C.E.X in the uk
Can racing game developers convince car manufacturers to license their car for a single product? If they make another racing games, they'll ask for licensing again. So there's no more racing games pulled off from marketplaces? Or maybe make them sure that car damages or what players did with their cars in racing video games doesn't majorly affect their car sales? Because this is stupid! Meanwhile, they're fine having other creative media such as movies featuring their expensive lineup of cars freaking exploding on scene. But it's a big no no if they find out you can bent your virtual car fender in a damn video game. Or maybe I'm asking too much...
If buying isn't owning and pirating isn't theft then delisting should be refunding. The ps2 era was golden with decent tech for the time and a humungous library of finished games. I'm now forever cautious about buying always online games but yet again we the consumer loose if the corps don't sell enough to even bother making new games even if they can pull the games away and keep their 'rental' money leaving us with nothing.
I am gonna be honest man, When it comes to this, I genuinely think by the time I get even a little bit close to playing these games, They'll all be gone by then and it makes me want to cry almost 😔
Forza Horizon 4 has ran some huge sales lately and the influx of players is huge, but it won't stop them from delisting. I'm not buying always online games anymore. I'm actually not even buying pc games anymore. I only buy games for the Xbox that come on disc and are playable offline. Delisting is one thing, totally disappearing is another and that's sad. As for music... it's the first thing I switch off in any game that has music from bands in it. I only listen to the game music is it's an original score that's mainly instrumental. My car actually is in some games, but didn't buy it because of that. I never liked it in the games, since I prefer other cars. Now that I bought it, I actually start playing the brand in games and it's starting to grow on me.
I used to buy some games for music, I actually bought grand theft auto 4 just for the vibe soul radio station, I never actually played the game itself lmao I also bought Def jam vendetta and fight for NY for the soundtrack because they had so much music that was hard to buy all at once
Fast Racing Neo on the Wiiu or in 4K 120fps in Cemu emulator that game i like , switching between the colors , tracks not being to complicated finding the fastest route , catching boost balls , crazy twisting jumps , you have to constantly see what you're doing , like in a Rally game , but it's so much more engaging and fun this game is Something Else !!!
The licensing excuse is BE a lot of the time. It's the reason EA gave for delisting old F1 games when they took over the license from Codies. But now you'll notice that you can't even buy last year's game on Steam. The reason is because they know people are sick of the GaMeS aS sErViCe philosophy of the modern industry and a lot of people (like me) will always go back to older games to avoid it. I personally am totally done with modern gaming and will play mostly physical offline releases until the day I die.
there needs to be a study on how car brand affinity works through videogames. i bought my cars becuase of these reasons too, like my s197 being in test drive, or my current e46 being Bmw M3 Gtr lol. I wish car brands were less greedy and more realistic about what these games offer. hey - i mean you have a good amount in savings, what if you hired people who could develop a game and tried to make one? have you ever thought about that? I'd love to help develop a game with a proper vision but i can't afford putting a vision like that forward. i feel like with 100k you could shape up a great base for an amazing new IP (which the market is desperate for), and it'd even sell very well. It'd be worthwhile but that needs some market research but still isnt a bad idea at all.
Need for speed is the only decent racing game that does a story mode. An actual story and i miss that so much in racing games. Now its all about a soulless live service that strictly based on fomo. Forza horizon 1 was great and its no coincidence that it is regarded by many as the best horizon. Story mode also provides replay ability. Which is ideal.
The only reason cars like Supra, RX7, Skyline are so expensive and sought for is because they are icons, icons for being featured in Fast and Furious movies, there are only benefits for being featured in the biggest industry of entertainment. That's why I laugh my ass off when I see stupid musicians refusing Rockstar because they only saw the deal as a quick payday. They should all join Andrzej Sapkowski club.
When it comes to music in games, personally I would be happy if none was included. Lost track of how many games I end up playing Spotify instead of the game music as I get bored of the same few tracks I like.
Today i fired up Motorfest and got hit with the "always online" realization... my WIFI was instable as hell and it took like 10min and a lot of troubleshooting to finally get into the game! And then you end up playing a playlist by yourself, the irony.
The Racing game is free AD for manufacturers and race track owners cuz if GT and mainly GT wouldnt exist, id never know about 95% of i know now ( cars, tracks etc. ). So manufacturers should pay to be in the game not vice versa. Because, just look at the GTA V Online, u can still create fictional cars without problem and the game still can be fun.
It makes sense that artists should be thankful that their music is on games, it’s free advertising so i don’t understand why licensing is so expensive when it comes to music
I don't understand why the companies don't renew licences for users to purchase the games? Why they don't understand it will generate more profit if they bring legacy games.
They probably are thankful, but it's actually not their decision on how their music is used or how it's licensed, or even what streaming platforms it's on. It's their labels who have full control over that unless they own their own masters, or something is explicitly stated in their contracts.
Latenight PANTSMAN episode!! Absolutely lovely. I call it brainfuel, need a snack every few hours, our ADHD brains are working 24/7 at 125% so we needa fill it up all the time!
rockstar actually does it perfectly, and they've probably got the legal team to keep all the car manufactuers away. I should add here that they get a lot of shit from car "designers" for their way of going around it
Everyone’s mind was happy abt yeah let’s pay for a subscription not realising that we don’t really own the game so physical copies will always be superior and we should still be thinking like that
It should be the other way around - car manufactureres should pay to be in the games, as this is promotion for their cars. As for Music - i wouldn't have found The Hang Song from Cosmos 80 if i didn't hear it in The Crew 1. Sooooo....and how is this working for movies? Anyways...i can still play Grid 1, or Grid Autosport - they don't rely on Online servers and they are still working fine. I could also play the DTM/TOCA Racedriver Games if that damn copy protection wouldn't ruin it(doesn't run on modern OSes...so...you have to put work on that to get it to run). To bad for Live Service Games. They will all vanish. Some people might argue, that i had my fun and i should move on....yeah...move on to what? Forza Horizon 2 is still the best in this series. And i find FH 4 was better in many regards than 5, but of all those newer games - i would still only play FH2(360 Version). Hell...i also have more fun playing Gran Turismo 4 Spec II with a wheel than playing GT7....and even if GT7 receives an Offline patch someday - it hasn't much going on the singleplayer side. At least not as motivating as GT3 and 4. Licensing....the downfall of humankind xD

1.Yea because most of them are already in their most perfect state and usually most contents in older games is literally in the base game already
2.Usually (if not mostly) fact
3.I heard there will be FH4 Remastered for next year after it's get delisted...soo 3 make sense. (And probably some other game too but not sure)
4.Sweet baby inc for example...large company would keep listen to those stupid crazy people instead of their own game community.
@@Stayinl FH4 won't get remastered, where you heard that it's %100 fake news
@@uhm175 tysm for the information 😅 my bad
No, I'm not crying because of that Little Big Planet segment.. you are..
But when u buy online u just buy a license
YapPanthaa seems like a perfect name to me
video games with fictional cars would be better so that they can avoid future delisting and no need for licensing.
Underground 2 introduced me to RIDERS OF THE STORM
borderlands introduced me to AINT NO RSST FOR THE WICKED
And midnight club 3 introduced me to Sean Paul, Peter Pablo and twista
I agree with your points... From Forza Horizon 4, I really liked the song 'Down to the Bottom' by Dorothy & looked her up on UA-cam & listened to all her music, subscribed & liked videos, because of a game. Also I wouldn't know an eighth of my car Knowledge without playing tonnes of car games, which led to real cars online & having favourites & preferences.
One thing that intensely bugged me about this video though is the fact you were most of the time driving on the wrong side of the road, especially with the game being set in Scotland, UK.
because licenses are time limited duh, i'm only jokin
I think that every car company CEO or executive should watch this video and take its words seriously.
Needs to be some sort of abandonware legislation, past 20 years of inactivity, should be accessible in public archives
I’m glad the PC community has emulation and modders so we can play pretty much any games
I fully support piracy if you make it hard for anyone to buy and keep your games
The final nail in the coffin is expired licensing properties in video games, especially the music releases by major artists from big record labels such as UMG for instance and licensed real cars from automotive manufacturers.
modding, piracy, emulation, jailbreaking, homebrewing, packaged console games, you name it... whatever they try it's not going to work, we will always find a way to play our favorite games
crew2 sold their game for $1, it means they're delisting also the game soon? but this game is online only! does it face the same fate as the first crew? WTH!
crew 2 and motorfest are going offline
Crew 2 is getting a Full Offline Mode with Offline Installers, as is Motorfest.
Yes, also GT7 is going offline
Im gonna feel lost when they get rid of nfs 2015. One of my best nfs games aswel. If music was a issue then ide take out the muisc from the games to keep the games alive. It hurts cause we spend our money on games we love and ppl take them away. Im sure there are laws on this or if we get refunds or something. I sometimes love playing the older games cause brings soo many memories for me. Then i feel sorry for the furure always online games that like gt7 and the crew motorfest. Ide love togo to crown court and say put a stop to always online gaming and stop taking our games away from us 😭
At this point there’s more ppl playing FH4 than TDU
Who's playing TDU? ROFL
Assetto Corsa on PC still going strong and keeping fresh is due to Content Manager and the multitude of mods and shaders and got released nearly 10 years ago.
Enjoy your Toyosa Tupra or Honsa NDX for ever
If Criterion went back to Burnout and do this route where their artists can make any car they want and hire composers to make the full album score with collaborations of bands from rock, metal, and etc. along with edm, hip hop, and orchestra then that game would be set for life
fellow flylo & thundercat enjoyer 🤝
props for buying music
Go the rockstar route and don’t license with manufacturers
I like Ferrari but I never can afford one game is a dream to live to own such a car to enjoy, race and listen to the sound when made good.
Buy physical physical can't delist
Its fine.need for speed world still alive.
I enjoy these second channel videos where you're just having a ramble
Is that why Ivory tower don't add subaru to there games?
to be honest this might be an unpopular opinion, but they need to make it clear to the car manufacturers that they don't need them. take the cod route. imagine Forza where they dropped the need for licensed cars and just made 'close enough cars' like cod does with guns. imagine what rhey could do. even more customization, intricate damage models, all the things that the car manufacturers pitch fit about. make it so that at eol games can pull the music soundtrack and hook in internet radio stations or Spotify. hell, pay for smaller artists which will allow for their songs to be outright purchased for a game instead of year over year contracts. control the narrative so the next time deals are brought to the table, it's clear whose in charge.
I just don’t bother playing racing games anymore
Watch NFS 2015 get delisted next year..... 💀
Grid Ledgends is a fun playable game. back in the day used to love playing ridge racer and rage racer. also early grand turismo. went over to the xbox from playstation 3. got a few car games on physical copy. can pick them up at car boot sales or shops like C.E.X in the uk
fh4 will still be able to be played offline just like fh3 ... this guy makes it seem like there's no offline mode for this game ...
Can't even find little big planet on the Google playstore anymore either
Can racing game developers convince car manufacturers to license their car for a single product? If they make another racing games, they'll ask for licensing again. So there's no more racing games pulled off from marketplaces?
Or maybe make them sure that car damages or what players did with their cars in racing video games doesn't majorly affect their car sales? Because this is stupid! Meanwhile, they're fine having other creative media such as movies featuring their expensive lineup of cars freaking exploding on scene. But it's a big no no if they find out you can bent your virtual car fender in a damn video game.
Or maybe I'm asking too much...
Good taste in music theo🤙🏼
RIP Drive Club you were the GOAT
I just went to check the shelf in my games room and nothing seems to have been delisted.
Only name I can come up with for a lunch break series is "The Breakroom"
Saints row Yonkers! Hell yeah baby
Fast Racing Neo on the Wiiu
or in 4K 120fps in Cemu emulator
that game i like , switching between the colors , tracks not being to complicated
finding the fastest route , catching boost balls , crazy twisting jumps ,
you have to constantly see what you're doing , like in a Rally game , but it's so much more engaging and fun
this game is Something Else !!!
You learnt about the music industry from googling about the diddy stories didn’t you 😂 2:55
Need for speed is the only decent racing game that does a story mode. An actual story and i miss that so much in racing games. Now its all about a soulless live service that strictly based on fomo. Forza horizon 1 was great and its no coincidence that it is regarded by many as the best horizon. Story mode also provides replay ability. Which is ideal.
New NFS games are trash, not even close to being decent
Always online is terrible
It always comes down to licenses.
That's your way of thinking friend..
These car companies would do anything for a couple of extra thousand bucks
The only reason cars like Supra, RX7, Skyline are so expensive and sought for is because they are icons, icons for being featured in Fast and Furious movies, there are only benefits for being featured in the biggest industry of entertainment. That's why I laugh my ass off when I see stupid musicians refusing Rockstar because they only saw the deal as a quick payday. They should all join Andrzej Sapkowski club.
When it comes to music in games, personally I would be happy if none was included. Lost track of how many games I end up playing Spotify instead of the game music as I get bored of the same few tracks I like.
Meanwhile Beamng Drive:f you car manufacturers and music companies we will make are own cars and music
Wish we could get the Xbox 360 version of most wanted backwards compatible on Xbox😭
Easy way to avoide the music licence atuff, just do what bungie do with destiny. Employ a few muscians to create music specifically for the game.
Today i fired up Motorfest and got hit with the "always online" realization... my WIFI was instable as hell and it took like 10min and a lot of troubleshooting to finally get into the game!
And then you end up playing a playlist by yourself, the irony.
You are always smiling bro you are bringing smile in most difficult times
Good reason to buy disc games and don’t require internet.
Gaming is dead
The Racing game is free AD for manufacturers and race track owners cuz if GT and mainly GT wouldnt exist, id never know about 95% of i know now ( cars, tracks etc. ). So manufacturers should pay to be in the game not vice versa. Because, just look at the GTA V Online, u can still create fictional cars without problem and the game still can be fun.
I'd love to see an reaction/commentary to TraxionGG's video "The best year for racing games... ever"
I bet you can add a ton to this, think about it!
Rip old era
It makes sense that artists should be thankful that their music is on games, it’s free advertising so i don’t understand why licensing is so expensive when it comes to music
I don't understand why the companies don't renew licences for users to purchase the games? Why they don't understand it will generate more profit if they bring legacy games.
They probably are thankful, but it's actually not their decision on how their music is used or how it's licensed, or even what streaming platforms it's on. It's their labels who have full control over that unless they own their own masters, or something is explicitly stated in their contracts.
The reason racing games are chopped is because the new games are roughly the same as the old games. So they want you to not stick to the old games. 😂
I own a digital version of forza horizon 4 will I end up losing it
No, It is in Your Library Permanently.
I should add here that they get a lot of shit from car "designers" for their way of going around it
Little big planet and little big planet 2 are the best 😎 loved those games
Everyone’s mind was happy abt yeah let’s pay for a subscription not realising that we don’t really own the game so physical copies will always be superior and we should still be thinking like that
And your still driving the whole Way on the wrong side. I tell ya that as german. XD @Blackpanthaa:
Because "live service" they want you to play the new one where they sell you new fomo
Delisting isnt that bad because u can get a disk or download it if u bought it.
Always Online is killing Gaming because its worthless at End of Life!
Why not just make the game work offline, then the game doesn’t die like I’m the PS3/Xbox 360 era and earlier?
Because of licensing issues, next question
Licensing....the downfall of humankind xD
car manufacture care there image in game like ranking worst to best based on performance which affect there rep in IRL
