Hui Thoh left Malaysia with her parents as a teenager, moving to Australia. After university, she travelled to Europe and eventually settled in London, where she lives with her British husband and two daughters. Her parents, who are still in Australia, are from Penang, in the north of the country. Hui would often visit Malaysia, an easier way to see each her parents rather than going all the way to Australia, but also an excuse to visit her country of origin. It’s thanks to these trips that Hui began re-familiarising herself with Malaysian cuisine (often Chinese/Malay fusion). Cooking Malaysian dishes has been her passion for years, now. She posts photos of her d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s dishes on her instagram account @huis_kitchen.
