Bob Mintzer about the musical project: "Getting to do a project of original music with the WDR Big Band was a wonderful gift. Having worked with the band for several years, I was well aware of their capabilities, and wrote for them in a way that I think felt comfortable yet challenging. The objective is always to make a good sound come from the ensemble while making a stew of various styles and colors to achieve a personal statement as a composer and soloist. I'm so very grateful for the opportunity."
The tune "Montuno" features Karolina Strassmayer on alto saxophone and Bob Mintzer on EWI. Marcio Doctor makes a guest appearance on percussion. Produced during the dress rehearsal at WDR Studio 4 (December 2020).
