- I Think that this is one of the best detectors that Tesoro makes, as you can see I use this a lot. It has served me well and finds lots of great treasures, Even tho it has a vdi reading when stuff falls in the pulltab and other trashy areas If it is a sharp sound and not a broken sound Dig it.
I bought one last week. My first detector ever. Am just learning how to use it. I went to a local park the other day and found a nickel.

I have there cheapest model the Compadre. And it is an awesome machine. Runs off a single battery that last forever. It's super light and is a coin killer. My compadre continues to out perform higher end machines all the time! Tesoro's Rock..I also have a Cibola which is great as well.
@DanOfTheWild Great little machine. You can supertune it with the threshold and sensitivity so it will pick up deeper signals. The ground balance is preset so if you have extremely mineralized soil, I would get something else with a manuel ground balance, but it does great in normal soil or soil with low mineralization. It will pick up anything that has metal in it including lead bullets. It also has 3 different frequency shifts that you can make by just clicking the toggle switch right or left.
Still got all my Tesoro's and will use them until they stop working. I've got a Cibola, a Mojave, a Vaquero, an Outlaw, and a Deleon. Wouldn't trade any of them. Doesn't look like Tesoro will ever come back but in my opinion, they were right up there with the best. Separation is great and they are smooth operating machines. In my opinion they disc. better than any other machine. Just roll the disc. knob forward until the signal stops and you can pretty much tell what's under the coil. They also pinpoint great.

@@sirkyoj1 Look up "Tesoro Vaquero in depth test" by Scannerguy 1968 on UA-cam. He'll show you how to tune the Vaquero to find the deeper coins. It hit a quarter a foot down when he tuned it that way.
Two great companies gone. Their detectors are still beeping.

John I have been detecting over 30 yrs. I have used A LOT of detectors. I'm very found of Tesoro. I watched ur video on rolling the discrimination on a Tesoro, thanks my friend. I just bought a mint condition DeLeon. In anxious to see if it is as good as u say😊.
Cutter are you still hunting with the deleon Detector,would like to hear from you and what you think of that machine .
They are still great machines and with a Tesoro you will find gold

I own that same brand metal detector. I put a new battery in it. When it is turned on I get false readings when I move it across the ground. Why is that happening? How do I fix that?
Same machine as the Cortes, I’m thinking, with a few bells and whistles?
J Den you are right the deleon has a preset ground balance and as I said, I think that the DeLeon is the best for me I have the Cortes as well, and I did a video on what I think about it. They are super detectors. and I am just a user of the great machines not an expert by any means. So have fun detecting.

i use their Vaquero model. been to club hunts and with others who have real expensive machines. it can do just as well and in some cases better. i think Tesoro's are very under rated. sorry to seem a bit harsh.
If you want gold go with Tesoro I love their machines thanks for the comment

J Den ive used the Vaquero and it is a fantastic machine, ive now just got the laser Hawkeye which is the english version of the DeLeon so this video was very informative for me hope its half as good as the Vaquero :)
+Paul C (nobby) The Vaquero is a great machine I like the display better but when I go to club hunts or want to hunt trash for gold I go to the sound detectors you just cant beat a Tesoro
The best machine I had was an original Bandido ii. I want another one. It found all the goodies. I had other name brands and models, but was happiest with TESORO!!! I once found a dime 2' down on a wet Sandy beach at padre island. no kidding.

the DeLeon has the display but the Cibola has the DD coil and is lighter and maybe a little deeper

How well does it work with Canadian coins John? That Tesoro, like so many others that mark off nickels, dime, quarters...etc on a bar graph, are ONLY DESIGNED for US coinage. They are a nightmare to use up here in Canada when coin hunting!! The best way for us to use them while coin hunting, is to get to learning the tone it makes and learn the VDI numbers and what they relate too. But for the bar indicator...it's of little to no use for Canadian, and probably UK and most European coinage as well.
But, as always, that's just my opinion! :)))
It works great finding canadian coins my best detector buddy go to canada a lot and brings back lots of coins

john, have u ever tried the tejon by tesoro? it amazes me every time i take it out!! DEEP...and great disc abilities...2 different disc knobs that u can toggle to ,so u can set them at different levels and check targets...awesome machine!

four months old kind of a back up , so many other detectors out there , most will all go around 8 inches deep but so many choice's out there , the Cibola does find tresaure though , I think I got use to a screen

It is not automatic ground balancing- it is factory preset. I heard that Tesoro does not recommend this detector in the western states with the high mineralized soil.
I use it in ca and it does great

it will stay there for a couple off years because they are quality made
if you like to put those machines in your,e car often ,and travel him a lot..
don,t buy something else.
if you like superior depth , multiple tones , multiple audio , light show,s , space invader looks etc etc
then you must search another detector then a tesoro.
i would not change mine for anything else.
they are reliable and that counts for me.
with the right tesoro , on the right place , you need nothing more , period

If is says tab it probably is but you need to dig it as well you never know

so you say many times in your video about finding gold rings... but never explain how they show up.
I have a deleon and never found a gold ring.
please let us know how they show up between the graphs and the TDI number.

gold will show up from just above foil all the way up to the zink penny where all the trash is it takes about 100 trash digs to get one gold find.

I have one
the deleon has a preset (fixed) NOT AUTOMATIC ground balancing. and the cortes has manual GB in all metal mode only. goes to preset in discrimination mode. just in case you want to do a review on that one as well. so, the deleon is not tesoros best detector. good but, not their best. how can people take your advice when you cant get the basic information on the unit correct? before portraying yourself to some kind of expert on it. maybe try reading the operating manual first before posting another video. just trying to help. again, it is fixed ground balance, not automatic. it is a big difference between the two.
Agreed John, the DeLeon is an awesome machine, but have you ever used their Vaquero? The 2 are close throughout many tests in depth, recovery speed at their abilities to discriminate....
BUT....
When you super tune the Vaquero, it leaves the DeLeon, and even their Lobo Super TRAQ behind. This Vaquero stands alone, and even with today's high tech digital machines, like the Nokta FORS CoRe (Coin & Relic=CoRe) can not touch it! Look up Scannerguy1968 here on UA-cam. He does awesome reviews, & if you want to learn how to SUPER TUNE your machine, he's got a vid to show you how...and trust me, IT DOES WORK! I found an old Canadian silver half dollar near an old foundation of a home outside an old ghost town in 2016, and I kid you not, it was 18" down. One & a half lengths of my Garrett Pinpointer! The digital machines have lots of advantages, that can not be denied, but my Tesoro is my lead MD with my Minelab Quattro & my Nokta FORS Relic as backups!
Not sure how long ago you made this vid as there is no date showing, but if you loaded it up in the last couple of years, I hope you've bought a Vaquero by now. Tesoro's lifetime warranty is...
WAS tops in the industry, but since the founder died, his sons shut the doors down, not even letting lifelong employees continue to run the business. Find a good MD repair guy, and grab yourself a Tesoro Vaquero too. I've never had an issue with mine, but I do have an old school MD repair guy nearby, just in case!

Tesoro is out of business, went under! Don't waist your money and do not buy something that has NO company behind it! The lifetime warranty is only good if company is in business. Run out and don't buy a Tesoro!!
What you say is true the company is out of Business,but their machines were very good and last a long time, but hey its your money buy a foreign machine,see how long it can take to get simple parts for it.
