- The Latrax Teton by Traxxas is not a new RC Truck to the radio control world, but it is a truck worthy of adding to our collection of review videos. This mighty 1/18-scale electric Monster Truck comes ready to run and is a great package for those looking to get into radio control action with something better than a toy rc car, but without spending a ton of money to get a high end hobby grade rc car. This truck is 4wd, has long travel independent suspension, metal gears in the driveline and waterproof electronics with a speed control that has a training mode option. The La Trax Teton may be small in size, but it does pump out similar performance to much larger RC machines. I got this for my first rc truck, upgraded the heck out of it now, brushless motor, 30a esc, 2200 2s lipo, need stainless steel driveshafts because it bends aluminium ones, savox servo, upgraded tyres, and so much more, great little truck
Thanks for the Video. Coming back after 20 years of not playing with R/C's. I got the Arrma Notorious 6s and I just picked this little guy up. I appreciate R/C more now then I did 20 years ago. Just picked one up and I love it! It rips and the kid loves it. Highly recommend 2 battery's so one is always ready to go
got one of these for a grandson, my gf's, just to introduce them to rc. Great car to develop skills and see which path they will follow, bash or trail interest. The whole family has been having a great amount of time with it.
Great little truck, had both the rally & Teton. Ended up selling both to my friend. I found the Teton to be more durable then the rally. More fun off road 👍
Perfect! My 5yr old son would love this.. From toy to hobby grade, and trainer mode too!
I got one for my son to get him into rc. It's a cool little truck, but not as durable as I'd hope. And the stock battery lasts about 5-10 min. We've upgraded to a Savox steering servo, Gens Ace 3500mah 2s shorty pack, Pure Tech batt straps, Redcat motor and Proline Calibers on 2.2 revolvers. He loves it. And it got me back into rc. Now I have a rustler vxl I got used and am rebuilding/breaking. 😂 Keep up the good content! 👍

This thing is really fast and fun!
I got two batteries since I knew the charge would be short on full speed runs.
I got 15 minutes of fun on the first three hour charge.
I'm thinking of buying another already!!

fjones1914 you can get 2s lips for these trucks 2200 2s turnigy will need a xt60 connection but the stock esc will take 2s

These things are great! You get everything you need. I have plans to put a 60A brushless system running on 3s in one of these little guys, should be a rocket!

I have one of these and it is a fun little truck. Very durable. I have thought about picking up a second one. My 5 year old enjoys driving it.
does your kid drive it well? is this a good rc for my nephews to learn on in training mode? they are ages 3-5
Josh Thompson yes, they will enjoy it. I like it because he doesn’t damage whatever he runs in to with it. Replacement parts are so cheap they are almost free and spare batteries are only $15. I would pick this one over the prerunner they recently released

This little truck is so much fun! Mine is upgraded with aluminum driveshafts and the latrax prerunner wheels and tires. Plan to upgrade it to a hobbywing brushless system for more craziness! I also noticed the 370 motors are easy to burn out if you run em too hard or on lipo. I find the nimh battery gives plenty of power for this little guy. Nice review!

Bill Perri, the original motor is a 370 can brushed motor and there isn't much room for a bigger motor. I think the 550 motor will ne way too big. Hobbywing has a brushless system that will fit, might require minor fitment to the motor mount though.
The Mblue - I was running my Teton on a dirt path and was pretty heavy on the throttle doing burnouts and spinouts. If you full throttle ALL the time the motor will die pretty quick.
The titan 12t is a horrible motor, if you want to upgrade, go brushless, yeah it will cost you some money, but it`s basicall maintenance free and the performance boost is huge..
Nice, I always thought of the Teton as a crawler and not a monster truck, it is a good rc for how much it costs and how fast it goes

The suspension of the truck works nicely while riding it
I got one today for free. Yes, you heard that right for free. And it truly impressed me. I thought it was going to be bouncy and the traction was going to be low. But the shocks are fantastic. However, the tires did not come with glue is that just mine or is it yours too. Probably one of the best little RC cars I’ve ever owned!
Saw a Traxxas Slash on road in one of your videos, would love to see a video about the build and how you did it.
Have less than 10 packs on the one I bought for my 12 year old. Battery out of the box didn't last 5 minutes even on training mode. Broke a driveshaft driving in the backyard and lost a spring retainer. Screws are Philips instead of Robertson, they will eventually strip. Parts are fairly cheap and the battery was replaced free of charge but I can't say I'm impressed with this.

Not to long ago the teton used to have plastic or composite spyder gears in the diffs, and it completely ruined my experience with the truck. The motors weren't very durable either. It seemed as though every run i was replacing a motor or diff. Im glad to see that they corrected the problem, i would probably buy another now that have given some attention to this trucks faults.
I put a Mamba 0808 5300KV with a Mamba Micro X in mine and on 3s it's insanity. These are awesome.
I just got one of these but I'm wondering if all my parts from my propulse rc truck would fit on this like my twin motor upgrade which would be awesome
I have desert prerunner and i have teton tires in back and normal on front gives a good grip on the back
i got two teton and turned one into a rally i got the tires and body an a couple other things and now i have a jacked up rally and a teton
Did yours come with the traxxas battery connectors and bullet plugs on the motor? some of the pics i find show tamiya plugs and hardwired motor.

What's that difference between this one and the old one? I bought 2 of these and went with a 2200 lipo with everything stock and burned the motor out on one.

I have the red one. Put some aluminum parts on it. I’ve only driven like 5-10 times. Fits on the bed of my XMaxx 😂
You can fit 2200mah 2s batts in it. Tight squeeze but makes it a little faster

I'm thinking about getting two of these tomorrow for my 5 year old and my 11 year old. My 5 year old handles my Rustler 4x4 VXL well actually. He loves this stuff. Are these pretty durable? I don't want to buy something and have it break the same day like a walmart rc car.

I'm thinking about getting into this size rc cars I'm tired of new bright rc's where would be the pefect place to get some practice driving couldn't I take it to a soccer field at a school and drive it there.
You should do a comparison of the Teton and Redcat Volcano 1 /16 scale.
The ECX amp which is brushed and 2wd but it is 1/10 is the same price. $130! I love my amp, but there are not many accessories since it is not as popular as Traxxas

Almost everything on these cars are just held on with Hex or Phillips head screws. So yes, parts are easy to find for these and easy to replace.

Tyler Payne my kids get about 15 minutes out of a battery. When we first got it we had the same problem. So I called up traxxas and they sent me another battery and a one hour quick charger for free!!
I put the high-speed gearing, 4800kv brushless on 3s. Full Beast mode!

You do have to take off the hood then un pin the battery and unplug it then charge and repeat

The redcat isn’t as durable and has quite a few problems. The quality of this truck is a lot better.

Is there a way to make an electric rc car go 50% max speed or even 30% max speed with an advanced transmitter?Is it expo,curve or what?Like this teton goes 50% before u give it to a small kid that will push trigger with full force.Yet teton will only go 50% max speed.
The servo is the weak part here. I recommend getting the a metal gear rebuild kit or the metal gear servo.
I kinda like the prerunner better because it looks like a slash 4x4. Although the Teton and the prerunner are similar but with a different body.
TB_Prodigy the Teton is a lot more fun.

I’ve just heard that when off road all motors burn out. It was a no go for me unfortunately as it looks so cool.
My motor lasted for three years, could have lasted for even longer because I was accelerating and braking too hard, would wear out even the best motors out there.

Great rigs, it's worth noting though that one will almost certainly need to replace/upgrade the servos on these.
No it's 18th scale you don't need to upgrade the service it turned fine to me lol it's tiny and weighs nothing it doesn't take a strong servo to turn it, this isn't some 500$ car.
And you must not have listened to him when he said the steering was great and had no room for improvement lmao you don't listen huh.
