gosh, when I as a kid I listened to Sweet Child O'Mine so fucking much that my ears melted, and I just can't listen to this song anymore because i'm over-satured for years. Nowadays my music taste changed a bit, now I am more of a (alternative rock/classic rock/prog) kinda guy, but I have to admit, this Sweet Child solo indeed changed my life, I used to love it and deep down inside I still do. Great job, man.

the tornado of souls solo which written by marty friedman go look at his work he's a very technical artist including the solo, but also i know what you mean with the meaning and purpose but people get meaning and purpose from different places. so you seeing "Hotel california" and "since i've been loving you" as meaningful and having purpose other people might get the from bands like megadeth or metallica

RedgraveGilver I'll se what I can do. UA-cam is a little bit harsh with Metallica versions (that's why my version of One is way lower). Love that solo!

Sweet Child o Mine and Welcome to the Jungle are the top 2 for me because those 2 songs are the entire reason I even started playing guitar, and here I am 30+ years later and guitar is still the one passion I haven't given up on in life, so for that, thanks you so much Mr. Slash and the whole GnR crew, and I couldn't agree more with your number one selection here.💯👍👍👍✌️ Edit- just reread the comments and apparently I already said pretty much the same thing last time I watched this, oh well, you forget shit over the course of an entire year, especially a year like 2020, in fact I'd like to just forget 2020 ever even existed. ✌️
As long as it’s not about Love - Dio Eruption - Van Halen Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple Mr. Crowley outro - Ozzy Osborne Tens - Pantera Excellent video as always!
IMO (only 2 solos per band, no instrumetals) 1: Ride The Lightning - Metallica 2: Stairway To Heaven - Led Zepplin 3: Let There Be Rock - AC/DC 4: Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd 5: Painkiller - Judas Priest 6: Fade To Black - Metallica 7: Nightrain - Guns N Roses 8: Whole Lotta Roise - AC/DC 9: Tornado Of Souls - Megadeth 10: Coma - Guns N Roses 11: Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue (Boy am I getting hate for this one but Mick Mars is so fucking underrated) 12: Powerslave - Iron Maiden 13: Hotel California - The Eagles 14: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden 15: La Grange - ZZ Top 16: Ice Cream Man - Van Halen 17: Highway Star - Deep Purple 18: Beat It - Van Halen 19: Die Hard The Hunter - Def Leppard 20: Rock You Like A Hurricane - Scorpions
You left out Jimi Hendrix?!?! What about George Harrison? And for Van halen you literally picked there two worst songs lol. But I'm curious, how long have you been playing and how old are you?
1: Tornado of Souls by Megadeth 2: Hollow Years by Dream Theatre 3: Sweet child o’ mine by GnR 4: Without judgement by Death 5: Fade to black by Metallica
1) sweet child o mine (definitely agree) 2) Freebird 3) Stairway to heaven 4) Come as you are 5) The Trooper 6) Paradise city 7) Heart-shaped box 8) Blackbird 9) Alive 10) Emerald Honourable mentions: Back in Black November Rain (All solos) Hysteria (muse) I feel really bad cos there are too many to choose from
My number 1 would probably be Blackened by Metallica. That slightly fast lick after the first 8 bars of the solo (not including build up harmony) is the first fast section I ever learned. It kind of bridged the gap for me between "this is too fast, I don't understand what's going on" to "I can actually hear every separate note exactly as it's played. I can do this!". That was 6 years ago now, but man was I proud of myself for being able to play that :]
Shit, if we're going to get into Beyond Magnetic then I'd say that Hate Train is Kirk's best work in decades. That shit rips hard as fuck and puts the new album to shame.
Benderbot50 THANK YOU! I've been saying the same thing, but everyone's looking at me like some condescending prick >.> I love Hate Train, and wish they released it with a proper mix.

Crazy train (Randy) 8. Master of puppets (Kirk Hammet) 10. KIller instinct. Main theme (SNES SOUNDTRACK)
Malcolm Mckean Megadeth IS the amazing solo band. From Dave and Poland to Broderick and Marty or Kiko. They all write incredible solos. Some good examples are Wake up Dead, Kick The Chair, Ashes In Your Mouth, Poison Was The Cure, This Day We Fight and Post American World. Not including them is basically heresy.
My list 10- my Sharona 9- Free Bird 8-Stairway to heaven 7- Hotel California 6- creepin Death 5- Master of puppets 4- Crazy train 3- Mr. Crowly 2- Painkiller 1- Comfortable Numb (Live, Pulse)
Gerson Quintana It's funny that you mentioned that, Symbolic was my first Death album, also Empty Words and, speaking of which, Crystal Mountain were among the first songs I learned on guitar, so yeah.. I can relate to how inspiring that solo can be :) actually it is a truly great solo BTW, those unison bends get me every time, and the acoustic outro solo is awesome too.
For me the 10 most life changing solo's would be: 10 Pantera - domination 9 AC/DC - Shoot to thrill 8 Machine Head - Now we die 7 Dire Straits - Sultans of swing 6 Channel Zero - Black Fuel 5 Metallica - Master of Puppets 4 Iron Maiden - Rime of the ancient Mariner 3 Queen - The show must go on 2 Metallica - One 1 Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera
Great little compilation. Lots of life changing solos out there, hard to pick. Not sure Satriani qualifies but Up in the sky and Crystal planet are awesome. Thumbs up for One and Sweet Child O' Mine. Grew up on those (amongst others). Next time use a Les Paul for any Slash solo. Nothing replaces a Les Paul with PAF pick-ups when it comes to playing a dirty rock and roll Slash solo :).
Damn "Over the Wall" by Testament's solo really left a mark on me and how I play guitar. I was just so dumbfounded when I heard it. The solo of Five Magics by Megadeth really did it for me as well

Ollie Rees Yea Dry Ice is one of those songs that just stick with you. The album itself is still so refreshing despite being their oldest. They certainly don't make those solos like they used to.
Que tal. Soy nuevo viendo tus videos.

the tornado of souls solo which written by marty friedman go look at his work he's a very technical artist including the solo, but also i know what you mean with the meaning and purpose but people get meaning and purpose from different places. so you seeing "Hotel california" and "since i've been loving you" as meaningful and having purpose other people might get the from bands like megadeth or metallica

Sweet Child o Mine and Welcome to the Jungle are the top 2 for me because those 2 songs are the entire reason I even started playing guitar, and here I am 30+ years later and guitar is still the one passion I haven't given up on in life, so for that, thanks you so much Mr. Slash and the whole GnR crew, and I couldn't agree more with your number one selection here.💯👍👍👍✌️
Edit- just reread the comments and apparently I already said pretty much the same thing last time I watched this, oh well, you forget shit over the course of an entire year, especially a year like 2020, in fact I'd like to just forget 2020 ever even existed. ✌️
As long as it’s not about Love - Dio

I would bargain with the devil to get finger dexterity & hand coordination like yours. Awesome playing!
Thanks a lot for your motivating words brother!
Blackened solo is amazing. Probably Kirks best with Unforgiven and The Shortest straw
Shortest Straw is definitely his best, imo. I was blown away the first time I heard it, I couldn't believe that Kirk managed such a ripper
Benderbot50 Yea that's a great solo. The beginning of the solo in Rebel of Babylon reminds me of it too, with the whammy work :]

1. Megadeth: Holy Wars...The Punishment Due (All solos)
you're a thrash metal kinda guy
I'm liking you
Any Testament stuff? Skolnick's solos are a real work of art in thrash metal!
Thiago Loureiro Hell yeah. I ran out of room. I know and listen to like 30 bands so it's hard to choose
Glad to see Destruction on your list. Personally, I would pick 84' Total Disaster's solo, but still great choise.
The Great Cormorant Could've chosen Sodom or Kreator as well. Teutonic Thrash rules
The best solo is in ,,True American Hate" by Testament. Did you ever hear about this song?
The solos of the cover "Powerslave" are also fucking orgasmic
Gabriel Gonzalez Yeah, you're right man

Hell yeah dude petrucci is a beast. The solo from stream of consciousness is also incredible. Also the ending solo to octavarium and the pull me under solos are awesome

so good, you always put your own twist on everything as well.
No megadeth tho?
^^ This
Malcolm Mckean The fact that there's no Megadeth is basically an act of terrorism
Not including them is basically heresy.
u include all those shit solos but not TORNADO OF MOTHERFUCKING SOULS? get your shit together man seriously
Tornado Of Souls is so criminally overrated, just listen to solos from 44 Minutes and Endgame
I like that you didn’t use only shredding solos, but also simpler ones like Smells Like Teen Spirit. Awesome list
1. Mr Crowley
2. crazy train
3. tornado of souls
4. tiempo
5 confortably numb

Tornado of souls, Painkiller, Crystal mountain, Master of puppets, Whorehouse blues, Psycho, The sentinel, Christ passion, Freezing moon, Psychosocial
Crystal mountain is good but I think there are better death solos
+go away Agree, Individual Thought Patterns is jammed with amazing solos from top to bottom, you simply can't go wrong with Andy Larocque.
Yeah, there better death solos, but I learned Crystal mountain's solo firts, and I feel that is a big influence to me c:
Gerson Quintana It's funny that you mentioned that, Symbolic was my first Death album, also Empty Words and, speaking of which, Crystal Mountain were among the first songs I learned on guitar, so yeah.. I can relate to how inspiring that solo can be :) actually it is a truly great solo BTW, those unison bends get me every time, and the acoustic outro solo is awesome too.
Freezing Mooon? hahaha, you joker!
Tremenda esa mano izquierda! Felicitaciones hermano!

Yea Dry Ice is one of those songs that just stick with you. The album itself is still so refreshing despite being their oldest. They certainly don't make those solos like they used to.
Que tal. Soy nuevo viendo tus videos.
