It's kind of sad how no progressive party wants to curb migration seriously.
Most Europeans are fairly centre left or centre right generally speaking, and migration is the hot topic at the moment.
Most Europeans are also in favor of a more united europe, and most Europeans are also in favor of more regulated or limited migration (if the polls are correct), and yet... there's no party that Both wants a more united Europe AND less external-migration. Kind of strange.

@@balsdsa Right wingers in the US would be considered lunatic terrorists in Europe. Europe right mostly just wants reduced migration. They don't want everyone to be cowboys with guns, outlaw abortion, underfund education/higher education, abandon NATO, or reinstate the death penalty. Americans only know the one line political scale because they're not bright enough to understand there is more than one axis to represent politics.

    • @Aggoenix

I would say this is actually true to Renew-Liberals. They want more integration, but are not uncritical of migration. Socialists and Greens are pushing migration, Liberals not that much. Liberals aim for more security+defense, economical growth, nuclear energy and they are softly anti immigration. They are not hard anti like Direct Democracy and Freedom, but definitely more than Socialists and Greens.

Today's status quo is open borders, cancel culture, wokeness, high taxes, big government, mass migration... How is that a conservative thing?!
Does "Make America great AGAIN" sounds like preserving the status quo or returning to a different state?
You live in the past. Rebels WERE left wing. Today they are classical liberals and they agree with conservatives on many issues. Conservatives want the old status quo, not the new status quo.
In the past, classical libs wanted to separate church from state, voting rights for women and gays, freedom of speech. They rebelled and they won. Conservatives gave up and gave them what they wanted. There was stability and prosperity in America and Europe in the 80's, 90's and even in early 2000's Europe. Countries like France, Sweden, Germany, Canada, were a shiny example for everyone.
But they pushed further to the left: it started with radical feminism and taking millions of immigrants.
In the present, the new left (neo liberals and progressives) supports cancel culture, wokeness, high taxes, big gov, mass migration, etc...
They destroyed the successful, prosperous establishment and created a new status quo, resulting in high cost of living, high crime, divided nation, destruction of traditional values and individual freedoms. So conservatives want the old status quo.

    • @janchi_stephanchi
      @janchi_stephanchi 4 місяці тому +6

ECR fights for efficient EU, what more could you wish for? I think the best way to create EU army is to first integrate the national armies, use the same gear and buy things together so its cheaper, faster change is unrealistic. And QMV sounds great, but basically means that 5 countries decide everything, more rational approach is supermajority where you need both 85% of countries and 85% of population. This would be something that ECR might consider, because it would fix the Orban problem without giving up too much sovereignty.

    • @stelioslagg

@@janchi_stephanchiAnd how are they going to achieve a european army? By being pro veto and anti further European unification?
They contradict themselves because the moment they try to implement anything Hungary or some other nation is going to veto it. European union cannot keep up while veto is being abused for political gain.

They seem to have many policies that conflict with each other, like they want more EU and don't want more EU, and too many things are left a bit vague, which doesn't encourage me to want to vote for them.
As for Belarus, I wonder what the views are from the people of Belarus, we all know what the government thinks, but as we know, there are two sides to every story, the government and the people, if there is enough support among the people to want real change, then I can see merit in supporting that, but it won't be easy with the current government and because of Putin, which the last thing he will want is to lose Belarus, which for Putin, he sees them as a satellite state, basically, a country that does as it's told and does Putin's bidding, so unless there's a major uprising from the people, I don't see much changing.

      1. "Wokism". Can't really undo the damage, all that can be done was stop mentioning it and presenting it as the modern option. Everything has a saturation point.
      2. Well, illegal migrants you mean. Can't really have anything cheap without cheap labour and, well, skilled immigrants do make good workers much needed in countries with falling birth rates. Plus you need them as taxpayers.
      3. Agreed, abolish useless bureaucracy but keep it in some sectors, for instance, good quality. We definitely have better food here almost anywhere thanks to European bureaucrats.
      4. I wholeheartedly agree here. People shouldn't dream solely of good pay and mediocre jobs, they should be freelancers and entrepreneurs in tech and other sectors. We can definitely learn from the US on that one.
      5. No to China.... Pretty complicated as we don't really share the same vision as the allies over the pond, but I definitely agree that ROC is the only China. PRC is definitely a cheap copy of China. Can't deny that we'll shoot ourselves in the leg if we stop doing trade with them, although here I would propose automation of European manufacturing so we can be competitive.
      6. Mate, anyone shall be able to choose if they want a family or stay single. Do you mean something related to abortion here or what?
      7. A bit vague, what do you mean by national tradition?
      8. Again, please detail.
      9. Pro defence: wholeheartedly agree again. 4% of GDP minimum. Cut welfare spending and let people have more sources of income and pay less tax. Also, privatise healthcare but still spend some money (subsidise few health services - ER and insuline caps for example).
      10. Green manipulation. I am going to be honest, everything that is presented by the press and politicians seems very vague and mumbo jumbo on this one, although we can't deny that fossil fuels will run out at some point. I'll propose extraction of the same resources on other planets because, well, life does need carbon dioxide to exist. Sometimes even no pollution is bad. There has to be a balance. Although I would still allow fossil fuel cars on the road but require aeroplanes to run on more sustainable fuels, they pollute way more. Also impose some actual pollution controls on the big businesses that actually do pollute.
Anything else that you missed and think shall be addressed by MEPs more?

The EU political system is more like an oligarchy than a democracy. In the USA, if someone wants to become president, he or she must travel around the states and meet people. The EU's rulers we don't know who chooses and why it's always someone from German. No one from Europe has ever seen him personally in own country and talke . In a real federation, all states have a similar share in power, not just the two richest ones. The current system of power in the EU will only rot when these people gets more power after many decisions made by these people, it is clear that these people have no contact with reality and the normal world

The anti-green and anti-woke stuff really isn't my jam (as a LGBT person who cares about the climate). But I can not deny that there is a segment of the population that is feeling very underrepresented and that it is important for the stability of democracy to have everybody get their time to push for what's important to them. I think the rich and powerful are trying to play people off each other. Like many people who would identify as anti-woke, I also hate the "representation" we get from big super rich companies. I want actually good representation that is casually integrated into stories that have passion behind them, not weird moral lectures shoved into otherwise D tier writing.
I do have anxiety around the current right wing movement because I look at Hungary and Poland (when the PiS were in power) doing democracy undermining things, and I worry about that becoming a broader scale thing within the EU. However it's a tough one, because I also get the sense that the reason we are seeing such extremes is because the people pushing rightwards are really fed up and feel very underrepresented. And I think we may have done a disservice to them to have had their irateness build up this much. But also, like, I really hope that people don't actually want to go rightwards so much that they'd accept democratic weakening. That's just not ok in my book, as much as I am for representation.

We cry about low birthrates and, in the same time, why cry about insane rent prices and the impossibility to build yourself a house (while low birthrates can resolve that problem).
The only real argument is that it will be hard to pay so many pensions when a big percentage is 60+. But people inevitably die one day or another and after it will be better. I am not sure about that. A government can choose whether they adopt the euro or not but there are some decisions that should be taken by majority and accepted by all, like in any other government.
If 26 countries decide that we are accepting 40.000 migrants and that they will be dispatched in every country of the EU, one single country should not have the right to block it.
If 26 countries decide that they want to create a european army and finance it, one country's government shouldn't be an excuse to make it impossible.

The low birthrate is a scarecrow that everyone clings to without a clear reason.
Low birthrate is the most natural long-term solution towards the overpopulation that most cities deal with. It's impossible for young people to buy a house anymore and rents are slowly becoming unliveable from a price point of view.
The only real disadvantage of low birthrates is the eventuality that, in a distant future, there will be more 60+'s than young people and pensions will be hard to pay. But that's a short-time problem because people inevitably die and then we are fewer with more land. And even this issue is discussable in my opinion, because we are closer than ever to a society in which men are not obliged to work anymore thanks to A.I. (resulting in pensions not being a burden).
So why are you exactly scared of low-birthrates? In which universe would you ever preffer to have uncontrolable population growth resulting in cheap, depressive gray blocks with 10sqm apartaments?
Go visit some crowded indian cities to see the horror of overpopulation. The beautiful old houses, palaces and medieval castles of Europe that we are proud of were made when we were not even 20% of the population numbers we are today.

SO it wasn't interfering with tradition then but now , nothing can change in the organisation of the government, it is sacred. Pray to the almighty never-changing government .
This is clearly ending one of two ways , either we federalise or the EU breaks up and every part goes into it's natural influence zone , and we'll kill each other in proxy wars on the continent for other stronger powers . The westerners find it har to believe because in their head they still are the great colonial powers from the 19th century . This EU where one state can stop everything is just the Polish Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and just go read how that ended. This is where reality will eventually kick in, we in Europe have very few limited choices, we can further integrate and pool resources together, which will allow us to protect our political, economic and social interest around the world, especially in a changing world with the US and China, which quite frankly, are going to ignore the EU countries at an individual level because they are too small and there voice doesn't carry much weight, but at an EU level, well that depends on how much of a say we give the EU, and the EU voice carries far more weight because of the pooled resources of all its members.
Like you said, there's only two ways I see it going, either we further integrate or we disband, if we disband, then we more or less become irrelevant in the world, if we integrate, then our voice will carry a lot more weight than it does even now.
The real question is, there are many different ways to integrate, some better than others, and it's important that if we do, we do it the right way that's fair for its members and the people, but either way, many of the policies of this party are clashing with reality and intentionally left vague.

    • @mirelchirila
      @mirelchirila 4 місяці тому

@@paul1979uk2000 I think the American model is the best. We all see it as it is now and not how it became what it became. The only radical part about it is the idea that once it goes further it can't go back, but at the same time, it doesn't go further without consequences or in one case civil war(the kinda bad outcome). And I say kinda bad because it did stay together and become a superpower because of it, so sure it sucked then but in the long run, not so much.
So for us, we have to agree to create a federal state and integrate what's useful, but be very loose with the rest . In fact, it probably is crucial to avoid as many culture war issues as possible if we move forward. But the military, international relations, and lots of stuff the EU already does or would benefit everyone is where the focus should be, I don't want the future to be compromised because some dumbasses don't like the gays. However again if you look at the polls eastern Europe isn't as conservative as things are and in the future things are very likely to change. The conservatism is more an outcome of demographic imbalance, and even there you have layers. To give you an idea we had a referendum in Romania about changing the constitution to make marriage strictly a man and a woman, the result not enough people voted for it to be relevant and count. So the social views don't reflect American conservatism or Western conservatorim. The trade and stuff is already EU and it's been a great benefit, balancing protectionism outside with free markets inside, and it might have to change. But the crucial part is it wouldn't have been better if we did this individually, just look at the Canada deal. We literally nickeled and dimmed Canada, because we came to the table as 500 million relatively rich people. Just the power of that makes a difference.
And with time as people feel more comfortable a European culture will be born and won't overtake the other culture, it will be the descendant of other cultures and it can only be built by the people that live then, we can't plan this shit even if we wanted. So the idea that the EU is gonna destroy European cultures is insane, because, cultures have never stayed the same, especially in Eastern Europe, the people most likely to cry about this, also it's insane how balkanic the Westerners are when they get pushed a bit. It seems like this face of civility we in the East see in the West is just wealth, and when the wealth goes, westerners start looking a lot like us when we had issues, and as we improve, the reverse is true too. So really the secret is I think the cultural conses is already there and after the jokes and cultural exchange, in the beginning, all Europeans will find integrating with each other a lot easier than they anticipated. In what most likely will be English, another ironic situation considering Brexit.
Ps: I am by no means conservative in any of the many senses modern or old of the word. I just think if are going to get 500 million on board with a big change like federalization it needs to be started with the idea of limiting conflict, and we need to be willing to let it develop even if goes away from what we wanted, that's future people's problems. If anything we now need to setup the myths and ideas that drive it, so the dumbasses that now would fight against federalization, can be the future European chauvinists repeating out ideas like it's religion, how the Americans do now. And as Europeans, we love shiting on Americans, it's very fun and entertaining but if we look at our histories, they had it more stable more prosperous and were better at integrating different populations, for our inherent smugness we fucked up a lot. they had a big fuckup at the beginning, another one with slavery and general racism. we had two of the most devastating wars in history, imperialism with each other and other people. We really are lucky the average American is dumb because they could have wiped all the smugness off our faces all this time. To add to our stupidity, the average European is way poorer than the average American, we can be proud of our healthcare all we want, but we have problems with it and we're starting to be noticeably poorer. Humana's topic and some of these questions can be unnecessarily triggering, but as long as we all agree we want to improve people's outcomes in life as a goes, I think things can be discussed and hashed out in good faith.
Ohh yeah, and we need a president, if anything for symbolic reasons.

I disagree. I don't think it is full federalization or bust. I think it is more likely that we see a spectrum of integration emerge. Some countries focusing on federalization, while some remain a little more distant but not leaving.

    • @mirelchirila
      @mirelchirila 4 місяці тому

@@falsevacuum4667 cool but that's still federalization. And I'm not sure it's good for those countries that don't come in. Because the situation is you'll have to negotiate with a bigger entity that will always prioritise its needs and that you'll have no political power over. Switzerland is a free country that isn't part of the EU, but to pretend Switzerland is free to do what it wants is a bit idyllic. I'm sure the EU would react if Switzerland did something that would actively hurt its interest, So I'm afraid a Russian military alliance is off the table, and it would end in war at worst or embargo most likely.
So the options are part of the federation, not part but strongly influenced by the federation to the point where unless you have a good reason like Switzerland it's stupid, or a future proxy war location for other world powers looking to destabilise the EU. There is no foreseeable situation where an entity that represents a few hundred million people negotiates on equal footing with an entity that has at best a few tens of millions. Or where that entity can have the same political\economic power. And I don't understand why anyone would choose to be an informal colony rather than a part of the empire with decision-making and power advantages that come with it. (I'm using loaded language for effect, really it's not an empire and it's not colonial status, it's more of a there are limits type situation) And the same goes for the other world players, good luck negotiating on an equal footing with China when you bring a couple of million people to the table.
oh yeah and all this presuming the federation has the same character as the confederation, it can just go really nationalistic and just invade you. I again argue from a perspective of what works and gives European citizens more power, what they do with said power is up to people in the future, and I can set some guidelines/constitution, but if everyone actually wants warfare and empire that's what they'll get eventually regardless of the laws.
Britain found this out with the USA, and the difference there is not that big. The trade deal the UK thought the USA would give them was substantially different than what they were hoping. That's why none was signed or worked on. Because any trade deal they would offer would literally strip-mine the UK economy, from access to the medical market and reduction in welfare, it would literally smash their social structure and brain them to an irrelevant player on the world market And they're friends, but business is business, and no one is looking to do you favours in their detriment. The funny part is it's always been America first, and every country first. There literally is no other option. People just put on a facade for niceness and diplomacy, aka getting stuff done without war.

I thought it was illegal under international law for a country to refuse the return of it's citizens. Being able to enter a country is a fundamental part of what being a citizen means! Is this really a thing that happens?

Absolutely, as part of the group who should be sent back are those who got deported for committing crimes.
Their home nations simply do not want criminals.

      No you can't stop immigration.
Those 3rd world countries are under developed because of colonialism and constant neo colonial activities.
Climate change is another big cause of immigration which was largely caused by Europeans.

Since Brexit the eu has lost any global view and influence. It has become smaller, weaker and poorer. Continually looking inwards and looking at ways to consolidate its position and desparate to justify itself. Even its members are no longer enthusiastic.

Remember, Europeans - the European Union is not a Muslim Asylum Union.
If countries are keen to join the Muslim Asylum Union, they can, but this shall never ever be forced into EU itself.
