I would say Beomseok has an intense love-hate relationship with Suhoo. He admires him, wants to be like him, wants to be best friends with him, especially in the beginning, but the way Suhoo physical manhandles and "controls" him reminds him too much of his dad, so he starts tweaking. And with other things piling up psychologically and mentally, he starts seriously spiraling and escalating things way too far. He has moments of clarity where he realizes that but he remains passive and indecisive, so the train just keeps barreling off the tracks and over the edge.

Boumsouk has benn crazy since episode 5 rob.
Suho is a fair guy. He treats everyone equally and is all about not crossing the line, (going overboard), previously he let sieun get his licks before stopping him from stomping the bully’s head in by throwing him across the classroom in episode 1. Then, he stopped bumseok from beating his old bully in the head with the microphone at the karaoke bar. He’s not treating bumseok any differently than he would anybody else, bumseok is just extremely insecure (like one of y’all said) with a massive inferiority complex!
Jerry and Evans saw it as it was actually. It's all jealousy and obsession with Suho.
It was obvious he was going to turn wild. The build up has been since the first episode. You can tell he is so insecure and just wants to feel like he is in charge.
Suho no giving him the attention or doing things his way made him more insecure and jealous.
I definitely disagree that the writing did not show a buildup to that and thus it's not a 360. Saying that its a 360 means that you were not reading between the lines and you're expecting the writer to tell you everything. As a viewer, it's your job to decipher the reason why it escalated to that point.
i also feel that he has a deep resentment towards Su-ho cos Su-ho was willing to fight for Si-Eun with Gil Su crew but he didn’t do much for him when it comes to his former school bullies.
Thing is Bum Seok is complicated. He has ALOT of emotional issues and while on some level it's understandable, it's all twisted with jealousy, bitterness, resentment, and inferiority.
I know one of the guys said Si Eun was trying to be "captain saveaho" and maybe that is true, I think he could see all of that at play and was trying to stop it from escalating. Like you see something bad is happening and you're trying to get through to someone, ANYONE before it's not too late.

Rob had a good take last ep,for once, but now he's back to being dumb. what do you mean bum seok's character change doesn't make sense when the whole ep5 was focused on him slowly losing to his own insecurity and inferiority complex. it was literally laid out to the audience what his character could and would become.

Bum Seok initially admires Suho but over time he begins to feel like he is being looked down on and excluded. His trauma, deep insecurities and jealousy is driving his spite against Suho, the person he admired the most.
Sieun and Bum Seok are the same, in the sense that they both know what it feels like to be a loner who is bullied. But Sieun is confident and knows himself, Bum Seok is not and THATS why he’s turning out the way he is.

Guys I understand why it is difficult for ya’ll to get the escalation of Bum Seok’s villain behaviour. You were saying that Su Ho acts fair with everyone so why does Bum Seok take it personally when Si Eun doesn’t. I think it all boils down to Bum Seok’s INFERIORITY COMPLEX/INSECURITY of him being or seeming ‘WEAK’ or WEAKER than Su Ho & ALSO Si Eun. Because, Su Ho is already a fighter but even Si Eun, even though Si Eun isn’t a fighter, he never let people bully him, he never backs down from a confrontation & he is never scared. This leaves Bum Seok who ISN’T a fighter but who IS scared when bullied & doesn’t or didn’t stand up for himself. So this is what makes him feel insecure & inferior (especially with Su Ho). This fuels Bum Seok’s resentment towards Su Ho as he perceives Su Ho’s friendly banter/actions towards him as Su Ho being patronising or condescending to Bum Seok. He wants to prove that he can break Su Ho.
I don’t think Bum Seok or any of the other bullies are really thinking of ‘killing’ Su Ho seriously but they do want to beat him up until he is hospitalised.
I would like to be on Bum Seok side but he could tell Suho his situation and shit instead of taking it so far. Suho doesn't understand what the fuck is going on.

Honestly this was the episode that really sealed the deal with me for beomseok, he was doing unnecessary shit to the only 2 friends he had and the only 2 people who were actually genuine to him. I understand he just wants to be “seen” or accepted but it was to much and he took it unnecessarily far. I just didn’t understand it at this point I stopped feeling remorse for him
