Rob loves arguing that something doesn't make sense or that the writing isn't good, ignoring the fact that we're dealing with a group of volatile teenage boys. Some of which are bullies and have also been bullied, domestically abused in Beomseok's case. All their emotions are running on high. They don't think reasonably, they make stupid decisions. Suho and Sieun both make major mistakes of not communicating with each other and thinking they can handle shit all on their own and it costs them dearly. So much things could've been prevented if Beomseok had communicated as well. That was what really caused the downfall of everything. It's tragic.
I agree, it's hard to think as a kid as grown up man but this is exactly what kids be doing sometimes, that's why so many kids get all sorts of injuries from broken shoulders to rod in head etc. Active Kids are really next level

i really hope they read your comment and also another one that added on the public image and power of Bum Seoks dad, like this is from Korea, they wouldn't make a senseless plot, it must reflect the society there right? so they should just start from that assumption, different politics, different school system.
@@havenmanlunas4409 I've followed for this channel for a while and he's known to be a contrarian and a negative nancy but he surprisingly had some pretty insightful takes for this show the last few episodes. However, it seems like he fell right back into his old habits this episode lol
@@nanakubi The country's culture and values definitely play unconscious role in how the characters behave and act but it will be hard to understand if you as a viewer have never experienced or lived it.

well, this is based on the manhwa with the same name. They just changed stuff around but this version of the prequel is amazing. The real shit starts next season. That is when you see some nasty fights.
@@WatchTowersReviews I have NO idea how they could adapt other aspects of the manhwa. It's alot haha. One thing I hope they'll able to keep is the friendship between the guys.

Not gon hold yall, especially Rob but them assemblyman hold weight over there in South Korea, like public figures are basically like tier 1 people in society. Them cops weren't going to do do anything. Si-eun just needs to crash out.
You're totally right. I don't think folks grasp just how powerful image and reputation is over there.
Si Eun was trying to de escalate things in part because he already knows that it can be swept under the rug anyway due to Bum Seok's father's influence and Yeong Bin's parents probably hold some weight (which is why mom just silently let him transfer schools rather than damage their reputations)

I kinda can't believe the guy said he would've gotten mad if his kid locked the door on him AFTER the kid hears how the parents pretty much regret having him and consider him a burden. Like seriously?
Fairly certain that's a cultural thing cause when I was younger, my mother also didn't want me closing, let alone locking doors, and threatened to take the door off the hinges.
But seriously, kids *do* actually have feelings and why would he want to look at or listen to parents who seem to resent him for existing. So he just retreated into his studies and himself (until Suho & Bum Seok entered his life)

@@WatchTowersReviews YEP. I tell you I was so excited when I saw they not only adapted it but are making a season 2 (where the even more brutal/intense stuff happens). Cause that manhwa is by far one of my favorites. Love everything about the storytelling and push and pull of the fight scenes (I was never bored with it)

Guys this is a prelude to the original Manhwa (comic) - the actual season is being adapted by Netflix next.
As the comments below have mentioned already:
- Si Eun probably didn't call the cops after the last kidnap/jump because Bum Seok & Young Bin's parents are Chaebols (top 1% of South Korea) which means cops wouldn't be able to do anything. He probably also wanted to give Bum Seok another chance (stupid I know).
- Si Eun probably didn't communicate with Su Ho about the bullies jumping him & the ufc kid because either way Su Ho would've probably gone to get revenge for Si Eun getting jumped. He probably just hoped that Su Ho would not know but obviously Su Ho isn't stupid.
- Su Ho didn't communicate with Si Eun that he knows Si Eun was jumped because he feels responsible as he was the real target so he just wants to "sort it out" himself by getting revenge.
- Young yi (girl) was probably threatened in the last episode when she was kidnapped which is why she was just sat there & didn't try to escape. Again rich people/chaebols in South Korea have so much influence that they get away with many things which is also why they get portrayed in so many korean dramas.
- Fun fact: Glory & this drama was shown to the korean public by AsianBoss channel & when they were asked if this was an accurate depiction of bullying in South Korea, the public responded that the portrayal was actually less brutal than the actual reality...
Cultural difference should be taken into account when reviewing international media/films/tv shows.
Also, these are all high school kids so are probably 100x more scared, irrational & impulsive in their decisions.

I don't think Si Eun communicating to Suho would've done much because first of all, Si Eun knew telling Suho would mean Suho going to them for payback anyway.
Si Eun going with him would've put both of them in a bad situation.
Secondly, Si Eun didn't wanted to let Suho know about all this mess and just wanted to peacefully resolve the issue with his "friend" Bum Seok.
So in either case, Suho would've gone and telling the police wouldn't do shit coz he's influential (the dad) and would just transfer these boys or cover it up anyway.
It wasn't anyone's fault.

did rob even paid attention when they watched ep1? why he acting like bum seok drugged si eun on his on accord. he was forced,pressured,and threatened to do that + he prolly didn't know what that thing is. not excusing him at all coz what he did was fucked up but to sit up there and act like bum seok was demonic right from the start is stupid. Rob's argument most of the time lacks nuance, it's annoying...
I can't remember if it was these reacters or someone else but I think it was someone here who said if they were in Bum Seok's position (in the first episode), they either would've slapped the patch on Si Eun's neck or at the very least been tempted to do it because the alternative would be becoming a bullying target. Plus, you could claim plausible deniability about knowing what it actually was.
He knows why he did it, he's saying a lot people wouldn't mess with someone after they did something that crazy even if you know the context.

It's not so much that Si Eun wanted to "save" Bum Seok at this point i don't even he considered him a friend, it's more like he was trying to protect Soo ho, remember Soo Ho is freaking poor, he only has his grandmother and Si Eun realized very early on how much power Bum Seok family had cause if they were able to hush a real gangster, imagine what they could with "teenagers" stuff, also there's a lot of cultural context, as we've seen in the news and in a lot of drama, Korea can be a very corrupt and superficial country who cares more about being better than others, they are very individualistic. And people who truly care about their communities are always portrayed as the odd one at least in dramas. Compared to the manhwa they actually did a very good job developing Bum Seok character but bottom line is in both manhwa or drama he is a coward who cared more about appearance than true friendship the only thing is, in the drama he became just like his father, someone who was only "strong" because of his money and preying on others weaker than him.
