Thank you so much for your reviews. My Maverick 88 Ti’s are arriving today! I got a great deal on them about a week ago after watching some of your other videos.
Yeah Elliott...I totally approve of your passion and determination to TALK ABOUT SKIS! I find your discussions great. sure I may not agree 100%, more like 90%.......but this is YOUR opinion and you own it and....well...I'm a fan.
I think the one ski quiver sounds like a selling point, but it sometimes means it's mediocre at several things. I think a 2 ski quiver makes sense... one for mostly groomers, one for powder days. MAYBE a third if you're into a GS type ski, or a 4th if you skin for runs... but for most people 2 is enough. 9 pairs of skis in Stowe may as well be 50... I can't imagine he skis on more than 2 or 3 year around 99% of the time but more power to him. SkiEssentials just dropped their 2024 demo videos so lots of material for you to review.
up to five skis definitely makes sense if you ski a lot. park skis, groomer skis, touring skis, powder skis and travel/do it all type of ski with cast or duke pts for the trips that you don't know what you are going to ski.
Oh rad, I'll look into it! Yes, I totally agree. I have friends that still have race skis kicking around, and I could see laps on the Super G hill being fun on old GS skis once in a while, but beyond that, yeah, I really try not to collect more skis than I'm actually using. Just storage and maintenance alone seems stressful to me! Thanks for the nice comment and for watching!
lawn looks very nice but the fence could use some love :D , i have the same vantages great skis and my early season skis too; plus i use them to experiment with diy tuning. i did an old school "base grind" on them and it worked great. i'll demo both qst and maverick this upcoming season
I ski alot of groomed and ungroomed sections mixed in. And love the qst 106 for a resort powder ski. Noticably longer radius on groomer and preety slarvy deep snow ski. Nice to see the passion and the funny reaction vids. Bur I think content like this is your bread and butter. Keep em comin. Ps like the play set set. Also, whats your home ski area? Maybe a video anour whwre you ski would be good content.
Hey Elliott, what's your opinion on putting new bindings on old skis. I went ahead and bought the new Ripsticksa you recommended, but I still want to keep the 20 year old Atomic Beta Ride 10.20s (for comparison, crappy conditions, and perhaps lending to a friend). The ski tech at REI said that they can't touch the old bindings and they might be dangerous to ski (altho the old Atomic racing bindings seem to be more beefy than most). He said the skis are probably still usable with new bindings. Have you ever put new bindings on a very old ski?
Hey Phil, I don't mess with that kind of stuff, it just seems like a quick way to get hurt, but that's just my personal comfort level. Hope you love those new Ripsticks!
I just bought a pair of Maverick 95 ti. I've read several reviews that say to mount them -1 or -2. Did you mount yours at the factory recommended point? I enjoy watching your reviews. Keep it up!
I mounted my 88Ti's on the Factory Recommended point, and think that's the best way to get good turn shape from them, but that's just my opinion. I don't go in the park as much as I do groomers and trees. Great Question and congrats on your new Mavericks! They're my favorite skis on the market right now.
I also liked the vatage 90. Tried it 3 season ago at hunter mountain NY. I like to see you're showing them some love. I've seen a number of online reviews that are not so bullish. Most say too stiff or twitchy. Love the mavericks. Really like my qsts (but only used for soft snow. Bit a fan of their carving ability) Ever tried a Head Kore? I Bought the 105 for this season. It's just such a unique ski in terms of the flex and weight. I'm kind of expecting it to be like a vantage... I don't know what to expect. BOUGHT it blindly. Great deal on a used pair. $350 w bindings. 2022. 🤑
The Head Kore and Elan Ripstick are the top of my list for the 23/24 season to review! Let me know how you like them. and omg that's a killer deal! Tis' the season for good ski deals.
@@RicketySkiReviews I'm not sure you're gonna like the rip stick. You seem to like a pretty stable stiff ski. It's a pretty good soft snow ski. I didn't care for it much on trail. I had the eighty eight I sold it after one season.
@RicketySkiReviews Elans 2 best skis(imo) are wingman cti. (Ripping Frontside bias -all mountain ski) Playmaker 101(new twin tip)- use on a powder day. You're considerably bigger than me. I'm only 5'5 160lbs...so results may vary. Maybe do a comparison video this season. Compare similar skis...or two Is similar waist width skis from the same brand . Example Mantra vs blaze 94...
The 106's look really good too. Salomon did just a good job with ski design and graphics. btw - how tall are you and weight? Since you like a shorter ski would be good to understand for comparison. I'm 240 6'2" but i'm not that good of a skier.
I think that's a great idea. I need to do some research locally though. I would hate to promise someone I will test a ski and then I can't find it locally. For instance I get a lot of requests for the Black Crow's, and Icelantic Skis. But I have yet to find a shop within 100miles that even carries them.
LoL 😅 I'm the crazy cat lady of skis. I have two each of ten mm sizes. A 76, 78, two 88s a 96, 99 a 107, a 116 & a 122 powder ski I haven't used in years. This leaves me with the question, what do I feel like today? A playful charger? A pivoty day in the woods? How about some front side supremacy?
Blizzard rustler 9s for hard snow days and groomers Bent 100s for my boot deep powder days and park gonna get some wider skis like rustler 11s or ranger 108s. im moving to utah from colorado so a a little more snow but abasin was my home and rustler 9s and bents were perfect for the conditions
I have not, the Vantages are part carbon, but that's the closest I can say. Would love to ty them this coming season though, thanks for the recommendation!
I just ran it on manufacturers mount point, but I liked it a lot! Did you get a chance to try the 88? Here's my review of the 95 if you haven't seen it already: ua-cam.com/video/JjtSLtniAbA/v-deo.htmlsi=hplzSD4QmXWZs_nz
I am still with my Line Sir Francis Bacon from 2015 as a one ski quiver. But always on the look to exchange them to something else. Currently swinging betweem Atomic Redster X-Series and either Blizzard Hustle 10, Faction Agent 2.0/3.0 or something like this...
@@EggsTeaSea yes, but since i am 98% a directional skier (lack of talent ^^) and want to do more touring (their still around 2.2 kg) and not be the slowest, once i go skiing with non-touring friends (race carvers are popular in europe), I ruled it out pretty quickly. But it is a fun ski to ride...
The Redsters are like a cheater race ski, so they're meant primarily for skiing on the Groomers. I have friends that love them and hear great things, but if you're looking for a ski that can carve and explore off trail, you might consider the Mavericks instead I personally love my 88's but think the 95 is very diverse for powder days. I think also a really good ski to consider if you haven't already is the Fischer Ranger 90s and the Salomon Qst 92s. Lots of good skis out there right now and some pretty killer prices this time of year. Sorry I can't comment on the other skis you brought up. I haven't tried them and want to be honest and not make recommendations unless I've actually skied them. I hope this helps, thanks for watching and commenting!
I just re-read my original comment and probably wasn't clear that i want to expand from a one ski quiver existing out of that SFB with a shift binding, to something groomer oriented that lets you make actually powerful turns and work on technique and something more touring oriented (two ski quiver). Hence the Redster X that i looked at and the Blizzaard Hustle and the Faction Agent. I actually tested the Agent 3.0 last year but in the end was mostly annoyed with this pin rental binding and didn't really get a proper test of the ski due to that...
I have not tried those skis yet, so I can't give you an honest opinion, but they are on the top of my list to review this winter (right up there with the Head Kore and the Salomon Stance). It looks like a 106 or 96 width which is on the wider side for an east coast ski depending on where you are. But can't tell you much more than that. Sorry this isn't more helpful, but honesty is the policy here.
I’ll bet you’re going to be a fan, I have the 96 and I liked you’re feeling about a ski that can really pop into the next turn. I’d be interested in your feedback once you’ve finished skiing them.😎🙌
I have a question you may think it is silly I have limited budget for my skiing this season, do you invest in new seasonal ski pass or new pair of ski ? I already have a season pass for a resort but I am not happy with it , it is not challenging enough. I have blizzard Thunderbird R15 WB which is perfect for carving to my capability. I am looking for wider ski Atomic maverick 88Ti to have better float Please let me know what you think!
That's a hard question, Idk if there's any ski that will make you love your mountain more, I think just ask yourself what purchase will make you want to ski more days total and go with that.
Do we get to see you ski this winter? I suspect your technique is more traditionally correct than the Ski Essentials guys. They are solid skiers but a mogul guy and park guy dont exactly make a Schiffren.

@RicketySkiReviews Really enjoy your content. I don't normally watch reaction videos but your take on Curated is so spot on. I watch so many ski reviews and your scripts sound like my internal dialogue. "Are these people sniffing glue? How is a Bent 100 good on groomers??" You're speaking truth.
Been gone... to Idaho, haha, there's alot of powder here. My family and friends are still in VT and I can say there are really good VT powder days, but there's no doubt they are way less frequent in VT than UT/ ID. But also depends on where you're at. Things are alot better at Jay than they are at like Bromley or Magic Mountain or something more south.

@ 60 I have 5 pairs of skis because I still race masters (1 GS, 1 Slalom, 1 POW, 1 Cruising, 1 Scrubs for early/late season)
That makes total sense! I used to keep my old GS skis to slip and it's so nice having sharp skis especially on the east coast. What do you race on?
