@BassetHoundTrio If your motor hums you might try new felt washers between the mounting bolts (motor / motorboard) The sound comes from the coils and depends on how well they have aged through the years. An induction motor stored in a bad environment (damp basements or extreme temperature changes) will usually be worse. The only true fix would be to have the coils re-wound.

Your video was very helpful. I have a Granada that the bottom platter was rubbing the induction magnets. I did not realize that the screw on the bottom adjusted the platter height. Now it’s perfect. The only question I have is how to eliminate the hum on the coils? It’s not super loud but it does hum loud enough to hear coming up through the board. The coils get warm but not really too hot to the touch. Wondering if you can offer any advice? Thanks!

The sound comes from the paper insulation in the coils and depends on how well they have aged through the years. An induction motor stored in a bad environment (damp basements or extreme temperature changes) will usually be worse. The only true fix would be to have the coils re-wound. You can somewhat reduce the hum with new and thicker felt washers between the mounting bolts (motor / motorboard)

I bet if you put new sponge on that governor that will get rid of that sound when you shut it off

I wonder if you could put one of these motors in any victor machine, I have a nice 8-12 I wouldn't mind having one in:)

Really cool Chilldude! Do you restore these players for resale or just for your collection?

@chilldude2007 What do you charge to rewire and rebuild? How long does it take? Next time I visit KC I'll bring mine for you to do.

What did you do to eliminate the 60 hz hum? I would love to do that to mine...

I have one and it too sounds good but one of the small coils gets hot while the others are cold. There is also a difference in resistance that increases as it heats and drops as it cools, below the resistance of the coils on the other side. Any thoughts?
