This was Mitch's birthday present to Scott: Wicked is one of Scott's favorite musicals, and he had tickets to go see it, but was sick that day and couldn't go. So this was Mitch's way to sort of make up for that for Scott's birthday. They just sound so great together, even when they are just having fun!
Oh, wow. Thanks for sharing this with us ❤️
The incredible thing is this was performed when they were so young. They were 18 or 19 when they won the Sing Off, and this is within a year or so of that. For Mitch's technique to be this outstanding at such a young age is mind blowing.
If they only knew what was to come back then.
Mitch is deservedly praised for his fantastic performance but I don't think Scott gets enough recognition for his falsetto and the high notes he hits as a baritone.
That was an awesome reaction! Cindy was having so much fun "directing" the pair. I hear it's one of the most difficult Broadway songs to do because of the jumping around between registers, and Mitch performed it flawlessly. Scott's falsetto was really outstanding as well. Thanks guys for a very fun reaction!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😉
I didn’t find Scott’s falsetto enjoyable at all, Mitch on the other hand was flawless as usual ❤
Just loved how much Cindy was enjoying this!
Yeah, she's amazing
The “Frozen” medley was my intro to Superfruit. I’d been a PTX fan for about a year before finding it- and by the end, my only thought was “Just when I thought I couldn’t love PTX any more than I do… Here comes Superfruit saying ‘Hold my Chardonnay!’” What a joyride that channel is! Definitely a ray of sunshine on any given dark day. 🤘🏾
This video really shows how Mitch and Scott are not just singing, they are acting the part. You see this through all of PTX.
They have so much fun together
I always get a little emotional in the middle section where Mitch is talking about defying limits and then they sing to each other about achieving their dreams together. It makes me think about them in school back in Arlington, dealing with a culture that didn't value them, and probably singing along to the Wicked soundtrack and dreaming.
Thanks Ruth 😊
Awesome reaction! Cindy you would make a great Broadway director!
The blond wig is the same the from Frozen and is also featured in other skits.
Mitch met Kirstin when he was 8 and Scot when he was 10. He had always been bullied for his high voice and Scotts height and athletism helped to shield him in high school from the worse. But when Scot and Kirstin left for college, he was bullied so badly that he lost faith in his voice and thought no one would want to hear his funny voice. When they formed PTX, he felt he could not carry his weight n pull them down. It took him years to regain his confidence and I think he channelled his pain into his performances.
Mitch is introverted and has a darker side while Scott is too extroverted. Together, they lift each other up. Both Mitch and Scott have helped promote anti bullying campaighns and Scott even said it affects the victims for life.
That wig is a paid actor 😂
I love that about them
5:41 “Are you not ENTERTAINED?” I am, Cindy, don’t worry…😆
We saw the touring company and had the good fortune of having the understudy sing that part when we were there. Just a note or two when a sense of possible wickedness was just below the deserving her chance to fly. Loved your take on the anthem nature of the piece. Glad you enjoyed Mitch’s incredible performance, rather like he did in the Frozen Medley.
Thanks Janice
Both of the guys, but especially Mitch, are really exercising their musical theater chops in this one! Even in the Let It Go portion on the other Superfruit video you reacted to, Mitch just wasn't going to give it anything but his all in the acting department.
I saw it in New York City too. I wish the one who played Elsa in frozen played Mitch’s role when I saw it.
Cindy love your passion for music. So fun to watch and so authentic!
Thanks Karen
Great reaction! Thank you! Next up: for an *ORIGINAL* Superfruit fullblown, professionally staged music video I can't wait for you to PLEASE react to *Guy.EXE* !!! You will love it!
Added!
This and Frozen medley are 2 of my favorite Superfruit.
Thanks Dave
That was 100% my favorite reaction to this one, ever! I love it when reactors areas excited as I am, lol!
Thank you so much 💓 💗
It kills me that both with this performance and their "Frozen" medley that they are so tremendous...and their wardrobe / makeup is so (deliberately) cheesy. Mitch deserves every kudo given but Scott's falsetto makes you forget that he's a freakin' baritone! Also, check around for PTX performance on the NBC celebration of Wicked where they perform "Popular", featuring Mitch and Kirsti. They are all Broadway babies. Oh, and nice "Gladiator" reference, Cindy! Ciao guys
Glad you enjoyed it 💓
Fantastic reaction. Thank you
Our pleasure!
I've seen Wicked several times as well including Broadway and it is my absolute favorite! I think Mitch would have no problems playing the part. I LOVE him! But if you want to hear a rocking version of Defying Gravity, check out Keri Ellis who did play Elpheba! It's incredible.
Thanks Tammy
Dont think I've ever seen Cindy get SO into a reaction before - it was a ball to watch her enthusiasm for this!
At the very end of the song, Mitch does something no one performing it on Broadway does - he takes the last note UP, not sustaining or dropping it like the performers on Broadway do. It's the way the original score was written, but it's very understandable why they do it that way; they're performing the song 6-8 times a week for weeks/months at a time, and cant risk hurting their voices to hit that final note. Mitch was doing a one-off, so he could go for it. But it's still a pretty damned amazing bit of singing!
I'll have to go back and watch that. Thanks for sharing
To me, there’s no better Mitch than this.
Loved the reaction!
Thank you 😊
Thank you. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I don't think that you've reacted to Superfruit's cover of Katy Perry's song, Rise. It features Brian Justin Crum, Mario Jose, and Mary Lambert. It's a truly amazing rendition.
Thanks, I'll add it to my list
I've missed you both!! I'm glad to see you again... I know I'm a bit late to the party here. :)
Hi Jen 👋
