Very Impressive. This sound echos deeply in my heart and mind. This performance has seemingly helped to facilitate my appreciation of modern music late in 20th century. I find that Boulez is one of the excellent composers in 20th century. I really appreciate this offering on UA-cam.
This is pure and beautiful music. It stops time. Glorious! Merci Boulez... Le temps met les choses à leur place et Boulez sera reconnu comme le compositeur number one du XXème siècle.
Exactly! As an aspiring musician, I'll listen to anything at least once. I'm always fishing for ideas, etc. This piece is just rich with interesting stuff, which he somehow manages to avoid sounding like . . [shudder] . . Schoenberg . . . . Many passages could go right into a movie scene.
@@clementguitard6653 Not really, there isn't a hint of minimalism in Boulez's music. He developed a serial technique which included pitch multiplication in order to create new harmonic fields, he then chose those which suited best for what he wanted.
Most of the good music has a melody that goes right to your heart and it won't stand any wrong notes. In this piece however, you could make a lot of mistakes yet nobody would notice. In spite of its complexity, this music doesn't have any melody, and tehrefore cannot express any beauty whatsoever, but only tension and chaos. Some parts would be ok for a suspens/horror film I guess.

@@psijicassassin7166 I understand your point - I don't like it as well as you, but I'm not sure that the real point is that one. Every now and again I try to listen to it since so many people regard to it as a masterpiec, but I never get in. Maybe I'll find a key for appreciate it, maybe I'll change at all...
what dedication! how did they not get lost? the counting for this must be insane, not to mention runs of notes which have to be synced with other players
Very challenging and certainly not to be approached like we approach pre-serialism. Like the musicians learn how to play it we have to learn how to listen to it instead of giving up.
In rehearsals in the first soloist section one of the pianists missed the top note of the arpeggio and hit a C. Boulez was laughing out loud at the error.

I love this!!!
I used to wake up to Section 1 of this piece as my alarm sound, and it gave me the best wake-up experience ever…
Vraiment une splendide oeuvre de Pierre Boulez. Fabuleux.

An intelligent music but above all of an ineffable expressiveness. Rest in lux, Maestro!
truly masterpiece of wonderful grace notes, streams of infinite sound, freedom unforseen
What a majestically precise conduction! One can tell it's his own work. I'm falling in love with his artistry.
I'm not a fan of Boulez's approach to music (total serialism), but this piece blew me away. So many beautiful and interesting sounds.

its gorgeous because its not total serialism. its more like a mixed between serialism and minimalism

@@krudensky6239 thats in the 50's in 80' its something else. there are a lot of small leitmotivs and repetitive ornementations
Gotta love those adverts that appear in the middle of REPONS. As they say on the internet, sheesh. Thanks, internet for the adverts!
One of Boulez's best pieces!
glad I didn't hear his worst then

One of the most beautiful pieces of music in late 20th century IMO.
Sounds so old fashioned and outdated.

this kind of music is an elaborate form of traditional tone repetitions.
Is this the best music ever produced?
yes
@@theingabo212 no, under any condition. such a thing dosn't exist and if it existed it wouldn't be this piece.

C'est ne pas loin de la Chronochromie messiaenesque.
I think Boulez was a disciple of Oliver Messiaen, it make sense if he was inspired by the great composer that is Messiaen.
Soinds like nothing more than very interesting instrumental training. But music? I have my doubts.
