GREAT SCOTT!! FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS?! THAT'S EVEN WORSE THAN HAVING TO PUMP 1.21 GIGAWATTS OF ELECTRISITY INTO THIS THING!! I just bought one for half the price (around $230.00) and admittedly, I was a little hesitant at first, but after watching all of these videos I'm glad I made the purchase because this is the "toy" Delorean that I wanted so badly as a kid back in the 1980s.
To me the biggest bummer is Hot Wheels did not release this one. I guess your money on this one is well worth, even the Tomy one which is coming this year end will not have all the functions that this one has.
Came here from the TOMY group. Definitely looks like it was worth the money for the amount of details and display options. The flaws suck, but I think so the positive outweighs the negative.
I ended up getting the Sunstar 1/18 version for $89 free shipping. No hover board, no lights, but still solid detail for under $100, and it didn't break the bank.
It disappoints me how there was no love for the MK3 and MK4 designs. The Red whitewall wheels cannot turn, the mark 4 delorean, the Train wheels look way to big on the Time Machine, when they were smaller, and looked more aged. I know I might be in the minority here, but I loved the Train wheel conversion as it had all the parts from all three movies: The 1980's circuitry, 2015 Mr. Fusion, The 1885 Train wheels, and the 1950's time circuit hood box. It looks worn down and battle tested. I had an opportunity back in the day to buy this, but I am glad my instincts were correct.
So it's more of a programming issue and not defective. Appreciate the review. You can get now somewhat cheaper then initial. Closer to release I picked up, from China, the car & box (no accessories) for $200 when the complete was north of $400
I still think this car is awesome for the detail alone, the interior is one of the best I’ve seen in a 1/18 scale. I have my original one that doesn’t have the defect signed by doc and biff.
I just got mine from ebay. It's doing the same thing as yours. In addition, the white flickering LED light is sticking out directly in front of the flux capacitor. I think it's supposed to be seated below, not blocking the details. A bit of a bummer, and I bet if I try to return and get another one it will probably have the same issues. There's got to be a way to fix these. If this thing wasn't so expensive, I'd take it apart and experiment.
Don’t buy another off eBay, you’ll probably never find an actually good working one. Most of them have been sold out and the defective models are left just like the one you have. I tried to make the complaint that mine was defective but the seller told me it was normal when in fact it not. From what I heard, it’s a malfunctioning IC on the motherboard of the delorean. I tried to take mine apart but you’ll probably end up breaking it
no i dont think it`s a waste of money. it looks super nice. i would pay that for just the model. it's a bit of a bummer the sequences don`t work properly but you can still show off all the lights with the 3 second push.
@@preludeboy99 I still have no idea, how to know if the one im buying will work as the original, or if its a junk china copy. There is one on ebay (sold 10 already) for about 220 usd. And then you have an used one for 499$, both seems to be similar but...........
I have both Mattel versions. The normal Elite and the Super Elite with lights and sound. I found that version, whilst browsing on Ebay years ago. And K.I.T.T. with lights and sound too. lol I read, on their Mattel website, that a James Bond DB5 was also planned as Super Elite. But I only found the Elite version and bought it as well. ua-cam.com/video/slazl_vekl0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/xDZXBqLGI0k/v-deo.html

Thats the nicest bttf DeLorean model ive ever seen, still totally worth it all things considered.

I was able to buy my old one from the guy I sold it to, and it lights up and it’s fully functional. I got that one signed by the real doc and biff.

I would say sunstar is the best 1/18 scale for the price.
It's made of diecast metal and it lights up!! Definitely worth the cash it may even increase in value in the future. I'm seeing these for $900 plus.
If this was the real deal and lit up with the correct sequence then I can see it being worth it.
@@preludeboy99 That sucks is there any chance of returning it? If not id sell it on eBay for the same amount you bought it for.
Good review of pointing out the key differences. I would be upset considering what you had to pay to get it.

Very nice…no waste of $$ at all. Sounds like you really know your BTTF!😊
I watch the trilogy once a year lol

Actually it is defective because the license plate has bolt things, the original is completely flat.

I’m thinking about getting this signed by doc himself. It was this or my 1:15 diamond select delorean
@@preludeboy99 that would be awesome!
I like it. Not sure I like it for 300 bucks but I like it but that is just me. Has anyone ever told you you kinda sound like Ferris Buehler?
I get that a lot actually
Like the 55 white wall delorean
Mine do the same 😢, for what you say probably if I buy another it Would be the same, and I guess there is not nothing to do to repair it 😪
Unfortunately not but it’s still a nice piece without the lights and sounds. I would just leave it at that.
You are right!!! It is awesome! Despite of that 😊
That sound of the doors worth the $350 !!!!!! beautifull sound!!!. Im looking forward to get one from china, would be the same?
Yeah but the lighting sequence is wonky. If that doesn’t bother you then go for it

Can anyone recommend a Doc and Marty figure that would fit this size?
There is a custom Marty and doc on eBay right now. You just need to search back to the future doc and Marty 1:18 scale

I would love you get my hands on the super elite Knight Rider.
you got a dud that is what happened...cus yes the sets of 3 diff lghts do come in the format as in film..u just got a bad ONE.
Yeah I did. But personally I think it’s still a great piece to have.
You need more plutonium
iam sorry dude 400 dolars for this scale is just tooo much trust me i buy same car for 100 yes no lights but its same good detailed car
I’m a big fan of the films. It was worth it to me. But looking back I do regret making that big of a purchase for something like that.
