Love that headlight set up. I gotta make a few of these. Keep making great videos. Your teaching is easy for the common folks to understand . Shout out to the camera man too.
Great troubleshooting, step by step process. Same issue with my vehicle cranking only but not starting. At least I have an idea once I have it check by my mechanic. Thanks for sharing this very useful video. from Philippines.
I WATCHED THE 2ND PART THE INSTALL I HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE THAT FUEL PUMP RING COULD BE VERY HARD TO REMOVE . I CANT BELIEVE HOW HARD TO REMOVE THAT RING WHY DOES THE FACTORY TIGHTEN THAT RING SO MUCH. MY BROTHER WHY DIDN'T YOU TIE WRAP THOSE FUEL LINES OUT OF YOUR WAY SO YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO MESS WITH THEM. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS KEEP MAKING THEM .
GOOD video as always one thing I do when checking fuel pressure I use the fuel fuse or relay and use an amp clump on the load side when you energy's the pump every 10 psi= 1 amp so 5o psi = 5 amps hopefully this will help in ur future videos thanks for sharing always enjoys ur videos cheeeers.
wow bro I love your instructional videos,you are a very methodical mechanic,going through every diagnosis and excluding the unlikely...wow havent seen such pride and excellence in a ones work for a whilr.I have subscribed and liked the videos PS:One litle issue is that the camera does not really zoom in to the work area ,i hope the recording will be better in the next videos...cheers champ✌
Man i really like your video’s and your explanation’s are excellent.. just one thing that i think might add value; can you tell us about car; Age , Diesel/Petrol, Milage Etc at the start to add some back ground.. great work and welcome to new camera man.. 2 hands free…!!!
Great video. Back to the basics. Fuel and spark what a concept. Welcome Max, not only are you going to fine tune your camera skills you are about to learn about auto mechanics from one of the best in the business.
Awesome having someone doing the filming it's less fiddly for you master mechanic. Looking forward to more of your collaboration with with Mat the cameraman.
First test was almost conclusive with low fuel p. If there was issue with voltage we wouldn't get any pressure. Voltage is either on off or intermittent ( broken/loose wire). But it's good to voltage meter on the wires as you have get there anyway to access fuel pump
I would try the old school technique of tapping the fuel pump with a rubber mallet and if it starts we have a fuel pump issue. Does work on most of the cars but your approach is more professional and way to go. Thankyou 😊
I like watching your videos on auto repair. Hey don’t you have a remote start so you can use when working on an engine? Like get the car started with starting fluid first
The car did not start after spraying starting fluid because you did not open the throttle plate. Anytime you spray from intake duct, always depress the gas pedal at least twice while cranking the vehicle .
lf l'm not mistaken, he did bypass the throttle plate by using the air hose instead the air duct. It depends, if that hose , is located before the throttle plate or after. Before he confirms the fuel pump at fault, he should first replace the fuel filter. It's much easier to replace it Maybe the fuel filter is quite clogged.
The throttle plate is electronically controlled on anything modern like this car, the starting fluid did make it past the plate because they sit slightly open. The fuel filter(sock) is integrated into the fuel pump assembly, you replace the whole thing to do the job right. The volume of fuel wasn't the issue, it was pressure, you need both in order for the vehicle to fire.
Greatdiagnostic video. But my question is why the engine doesn’t start with 30 PSI fuel delivery with no load. I expected it would start with some misfire or fuel trim codes due to a lack of fuel supply.
My 1996 Ford Thunderbird was running rough. I am glad I used a clear glass bottle to catch the fuel when I changed the fuel filter, there was water in the bottom of the bottle. I never bought gasoline from that same station again. I called Consumer Affairs, they told me to call Weights & Measures, they told me to call Consumer Affairs.😂😂
It looks like you need a fuel pump for the low pressure, but I still don't think that's why it's not starting. I've seen many Toyotas run on lower pressure than that. It would also try to start with the starting fluid...Looking forward to part 2!
You can check the fuse itself & then you can check for voltage going through the fuse, voltage drop would explain lack of power at the pump and thus less fuel pressure being output. His test light showed the circuit is capable of carrying current. Ideally you would go straight to the fuel pump connector but in a lot of cases you can't without dropping the tank. Being thorough is important, skipping steps is the difference between a professional and a DIY.
The camera man is doing a right job as well. No shaking, clear sound and following your instructions. From South Africa

@ritohlungwana8809 Yes!
Is,or was it possible that the fuel filter could of been plugged? Great video,Lester
@LesterFougere Thanks, Good suggestion but the filter was not the issue

If you have 20 to 30 psi fuel pressure, then whats the points of checking the fuse.
@birukbeshah2739 Voltage drop!
You can check the fuse itself & then you can check for voltage going through the fuse, voltage drop would explain lack of power at the pump and thus less fuel pressure being output. His test light showed the circuit is capable of carrying current. Ideally you would go straight to the fuel pump connector but in a lot of cases you can't without dropping the tank.

very good video,. I didn't understand the light bulb test ?
@Dicofol1 the test light test was to check the pump wiring
Do you have any idea why it didnt start with the starter fluid? That would have sent me down a rabbit hole.
@505fastlife6 Lol, I think the throttle plate was completely closed, or maybe when I sprayed starting fluid in that tube just air came out of the can
thank you man but one question why hade not start by starter spray when the fuel pump is the issue thats my question
@ahmadsalh8522 My Pleasure! Maybe I believe just air came out when I sprayed the starting fluid
