As a Glasgow University student I'd strongly advise studying here as lectures keep being cancelled at the last minute. You get no warning whatsoever. You certainly don't get an apology. When I complained I was threatened with exclusion. Although students are not receiving a service they had paid for, i.e. tuition, the university still expects students to pay tuition fees in full. If you don't they threaten you with expulsion. This on top of the lockdown, when the university threatened us with arrest and exclusion if we left our rooms. This university is useless. It is also very bullying. It is a total waste of money. My advice - if you want to be North of the Border, go somewhere else. There's plenty of better universities in Scotland, which treat students reasonably.
Im planning to study hard and do everything i can do to get a scholarship and study there! And i have a question, can i bring my pet, a dog there? Is there an apartment from the university where i can live with my dog? Thanks!
Every university has different policies, but I'd be very surprised if you were allowed to bring your dog into any type of uni accommodation. Unless, for example, your dog is a guide dog or a prescribed support animal. In this case, the uni would be very likely to accommodate you (I think it's illegal if they don't accommodate you based off of a guide or support dog). You'd also have to think about years 2 and 3 of study after where most people move out of uni accommodation to live in a house. Many landlords don't want their tenants to have pets. There will be landlords that do, but in my experience, you'll have to likely live far from the uni, and you won't be the only student that wants to have pets, so you'll have to be quick to find a landlord that'll allow you.
Having studied at the University of Glasgow I can reliably report that it is absolutely rotten to the core. Lectures are routinely cancelled at the last minute without warning or apology. The workload is completely unsustainable. The university is very anti-English. The city of Glasgow is unsafe, particularly for women, being very crime-ridden, particulary with violent crime, and awash with drugs and alcoholism. If you want to study in Scotland, Glasgow is best avoided like the plague. Edinburgh etc is a much better and safer choice.
