    How cool that there's a little NASA / space connection to this forest at the end! Isn't it funny how often we make videos & post them, and "it's such a small world" pops up in the comments. This is one of those moments. I will forever associate all things NASA & space with Space Coast Florida, and this is making me homesick for Florida for sure!!! 🚀

      It's funny, as much into space and space culture I've been pretty much my whole life, I had no idea the Arboretum applied for and got the Moon Tree. (We really don't have a local newspaper anymore, and the only radio station that gives real news is a country station. 😴) Stacey and I saw Artemis One sitting on the launch pad back in 2022 on our way to the beach each morning. It was supposed to go up while we there, but they had some test failures just before we went to Florida and postponed the launch. Stacey tried to get some pictures of it as we drove through, it was so amazing to see since it was still dark and they had all of these spot lights aimed at it! I knew they were going to carry seeds for Moon Trees, like they did with Apollo 14. Right after we left Florida in 2022, the two Hurricanes hit. NASA moved Artemis back indoors so it didn't launch until November. It's funny how I knew all about what was going on in Florida about the rocket, but had no idea some of the seeds/tree came back home until I visited the Arboretum and saw the exhibit. Really is a small world isn't it?

      @@Mustang-6-The-Force Good morning, Mustang! Not really relevant to NASA, but adjacent as its hurricane/Playalinda related. I don't use social media, but I do have it, as there are plenty of places (unfortunately!) in 2024 that don't update their websites as often as they do their social media. I was checking FB yesterday to look up something here in Charlotte, and Canaveral National Seashore was at the top of the feed. What I read basically sounded like all of the boardwalks had minor to major damage, the dunes were eroded, and the road was flooded with sand. There wasn't any information about when the beach would reopen, although in the comments section people were freaking out thinking NASA would use this opportunity to take PL back over and never re-open it to the public. Have you heard anything else interesting? I'm of course hoping that restoration of PL is tops on the list, but I doubt it's a huge priority, considering how much damage has been done in residential areas, right?

    I'm getting so many recommended videos in my feed from Richmond, Indiana 😂🤣. It's too bad the racetrack isn't there anymore! We went to where we thought an abandoned racetrack was the other day hoping to UrbEx it, but it's long gone, a Fedex building built on the site now. What a bummer! Much nicer how they allowed this racetrack in your video to go back to natural forestation. That bird watching room is such a cool idea! I love how they've repurposed that barn to be a nature & education center. It's a beautiful relic of its time. The history museum kind of reminds me of the old community hall in melbourne from surplus WW2 supplies. I forgot its name.

      LOL As I keep getting recommendations about Charlotte, Colombia, and Melbourne still. 🤣 At one time there was more of the racetrack still standing, it was part of the driving tour that no longer exists, it was 13 miles long originally. The Hayes Foundation sold off part of the property, a few years ago to developers. Of course that didn't go over very well with the community at the time. It wasn't a very big part of it, but it was the part that ran along US 40, National Road in Richmond. You could see where one of the curves and part of the straight existed of the race track. Always liked riding on that part of the tour when I was growing up. ☺
      The birdwatching room is really cool, it's silent in there, but they have microphones outside and the sound the birds make is piped through into the room. There is also a bee hive close to the bird room, and you can see the bees "working". I didn't film any of that for some reason. The Nature Center is pretty cool, I think we went there several times while in school for field trips. When we were in there, one of the Arboretum people asked if we'd been there before? "Oh yeah, lots of times back in school!" Made him laugh.
      I shot more video inside than I used for the video. Wanted to use it but it was so long... There is a story of a tree in the Nature Center I thought about doing a whole video on. Will take some research and more video, but I think I want to do that. May do a Nature Center Video, that centers on the tree... Hmmm Once you hear about the tree you'll see why I want to do it. 🤓

    Wow.... can you imagine getting married at that chapel?! In the snow too, wow that was just incredibly beautiful! And oh my goodness, the Stanley house is just gorgeous!!!!! I can't even imagine living in a home that big, that beautiful, in the middle of such beautiful woods. Imagine how quiet and dark it would be at night. That would be such a peaceful living!!

    • @Mustang-6-The-Force
      @Mustang-6-The-Force  12 днів тому +1

      When I went to the wedding, I had no idea the Chapel was there, this was long before the Audio Tour they have now. And it was a "packed house" also as I think about half of us guests had to stand for the ceremony. I think it was in the fall also, could be wrong, but I thought I remembered the leaves changing, which just made it so much more beautiful. ☺
      Not sure if you noticed it or not, but in the one picture, with my sister looking away from the camera, you can see they've built a privacy fence between the Hayes House and the Fountain. Not really sure why, as it blocks the view of the front of the home now. (For years we all thought that was the Museum of the Arboretum.) Imagine what the view looked like before the trees grew up and you could see more than three miles away into Ohio. I know that's not really a big deal to you folks that grew up with mountains around, but around here, it's mainly flat. LOL
      There are several Mansions in the city, but this is probably one of the most famous ones.

    Oh dang that arch is absolutely beauuuuuuuuutiful!!! That's just awesome that they were able to preserve that!! It's truly a work of art and a piece of history, and hats of respect off to him for saving it!!!!!

    • @Mustang-6-The-Force
      @Mustang-6-The-Force  13 днів тому +1

      As you can tell in the video at the arch, there is a road that runs right next to the Arboretum. (It's the same road in the beginning as we turned into the Arboretum.) We've traveled on this road countless times, a friend lives just about 1/4 mile away. Stacey said she had never noticed the arch before. 🤭 I wish I could have found a better opicture of the school, I'm sure there are some, somewhere.
      In town we lived in back when we had the house fire, there are several arches, and I'm positive some were designed by the same man. Another video idea......

    • @michaelandjulie
      @michaelandjulie 12 днів тому +1

      @@Mustang-6-The-Forceonce you get an "eye" for architecture you kind of can't stop noticing it everywhere! I'm seeing buildings all over Charlotte now and wondering if there are common designers!

    • @Mustang-6-The-Force
      @Mustang-6-The-Force  12 днів тому +1

      Yeah that's very true. A lot of times the same architect designs multiple buildings in the area where he/she is based. But then you have places that use different architects from around the world as they want "different" looks. Columbus Indiana is known for that for example.

    New song, but I love it too! It's very vampy, adds to the stately, kingy-liness of such old and awesome trees! Good choices!! You know adding music to my videos is my absolutely favorite part of the editing process and I always notice other people's music choices. I approve, good choices!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D. The more I watch, the more I'm thinking about Burnheim and I'm looking it up for you. Apparently Burnheim is over 16,000 acres (WTF!!!) although we did not drive through it like this, we just took some shorter nature hikes. The greenery of the trees though, wow. I can literally feel the fresh air in your video.

      @Mustang-6-The-Force  13 днів тому +1

      I decided to search for "calm" music and started listening to them, saved the ones I liked and then attempted to place them where they felt "right' to me. The drive through tour is meant to be calming, relaxing and enjoyable experience. I'm actually glad the audio tour wouldn't play through the stereo speakers, thought the music "worked" better. And yes we had the top down too. 😁

      @@Mustang-6-The-Forcesomehow I just knew you wouldn't pass up the opportunity to have the top down! Was this video one long take? Did you mount your Go Pro on the dash?

    • @Mustang-6-The-Force
      @Mustang-6-The-Force  12 днів тому +1

      Originally I was going to do a video about the moon tree. I mentioned it to Stacey and said we could take the auto tour, then shoot for the Moon Tree footage. While driving I thought it would be a good idea to make another video about the auto tour. Didn't know they had added the audio portion of it. The Auto Tour footage was from our dashcam only. Hadn't planned on filming that. That camera films each clip at one minute slices. So had to put them all together for this. (One of the reasons it took so long to make. LOL) So it was really about 60 "takes". LOL

      @@Mustang-6-The-Force oh geez that sounds like a lot of work to edit! Wow! You did fantastic, this was really fun to watch! :D. Kind of like you & our trivia videos (which are insanely long, I know), I watched in bite sized pieces and that was so much fun!!

      Had lots of fun doing it though, and like you always say, you enjoy the editing part. Time flies by when I'm editing, I'll think it's only been a few minutes and see a couple of hours have flown by. LOL Guess that means I'm really enjoying it.

    THE FORCE WILL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA I just cracked up right into my coffee cup LOL LOL LOL!!! I just sat down to watch this video, not sure I'll be able to watch all 49 minutes in one sitting but if not, I'll start a new comment where I left off when I come back to pick up!! Wow 466 acres is enormous!!!!!!! This reminds me a lot of Burnheim in Louisville Kentucky that Michael took me too once. Absolutely beautiful preservation of natural flora & fauna. You're a great story teller, I'm learning so much! OK that song is beautiful, fits so well with the majesty of these beautiful trees!!

      That was part of my first attempt at creating a video using the software I'm using now. I need to create a new opening for the videos, but just felt like using it again since Stacey picked out the name for our car. 🥰 I'm sorry it turned out so long, but felt I should show as much of the "tour" as I could, I thought you'd appreciate seeing it. ☺

    Good morning Mustang!! I didnt have time to finish this video yesterday but will watch more this morning! I'm dipping in to say, did you hear Playalinda got hit by a tornado yesterday? Our friend from Melbourne texted us last night to tell us. Not sure how extensive the damage is yet but we're gutted 😞 💔😢

      Hi Julie! I’ve been watching the social media sites, so far no one is talking about what has happened, yet. Just “be safe” “hope it’s not as bad” “when will beach be back open?” Haven’t found any news about specific locations that had tornados, just as many as 19 or more touchdowns. Probably still too early as there is just so much to report on.
      The parks website keeps putting up weather warnings, hurricane, tropical storm, flood, rip tides, and the park is closed, no details yet.
      Thankfully though, hearing most reports are saying it’s not as bad as they feared it would be. Still bad of course, just not as bad as they thought it would be. Fingers crossed for all of those people who stayed. 🙏🏼
