it's kind of insulting to keep bringing up the Smiths reunion. Morrissey has experienced an incredible resurgence in the past 6 years, greater than anybody could have possibly expected, and is releasing some of the best material of his illustrious career. Why would he want to reunite the Smiths? for what purpose? He isn't hard up for money or in the dumps creatively. And even if Smiths did reform, it wouldn't be the same. the magic of that time can never be duplicated.
the guy is a gentleman doesnt want to act the big rock star just a very humble poet and a complete genius and zane conducts the best of interviews.. bravo
After reading his autobiography I now know it’s impossible for The Smiths to reform and frankly nor should they. Morrissey has done what the Smiths never could and he deserves all the credit.
Zene, EXCELLENT INTERVIEW, excellent questions, entertaining too! Morrissey is very, very, VERY clever guy. How MUST be nice to be his friend and have him to be your friend. My friend say she feels I could 'talk' with him silently for hours, even days without being uncomfortable or HAVE desire for words because, even this is on internet, she can feel shis WONDERFUL God like energy. Somehow I agree with her.
Nice to see Morrissey so laid back, open, smiley and answering questions with answers rather than 'yes', 'no', etc. Anyway, this pillock interviewer going on about Morrissey turning 50 and considering retiring... I mean, Mick-cadaver-Jagger who still does his vile stuff aged 200, doesn't ever get asked by people wether he considers stopping... Probably, when you are a child-sjagger like Jagger & Co., you get a pass for a lot of things.
the most awkward interview zane did was with john frusciante after releasing shadows collide with people. he just couldnt communicate with john who experiences music on another level. morrissey is sometimes evasive but i like watchin his interviews he is v shy tho
The thing which really makes Zane stand out as an utter, utter fuckwit, is the fact that he quite genuinely seems to view Morrissey as simply part of that pantheon of, for want of better words, successful Indie artists: he namechecked screeching Scandinavian, Bjork; the missing link, Ian Brown; village idiot done good, Thom Yorke....all of whom, with the very possible exception of Bjork, one would imagine Moz quite understandably despises. His zesty antipodean enthusiasm seems to absolutely preclude him from realising that much of what he says in this interview is cringeworthy crap, at best. Of course Morrissey has been successful, but understanding the fundamental fact that, like him or loathe him, he (Morrissey) stands alone in what he does, I would have imagined would have been one of the fundamental discernments one would want to be familiar with prior to meeting and talking to the man?
What annoys me is, Morrissey openly and clearly states in interviews how repetitive and boring interview questions are and the only really lively one I have seen so far is the one with Russell Brand, where his intellect was properly stimulated. This guy Zane simply pounds him with mind-numbingly boring questions, one after the other. Morrissey is a highly intelligent person, waiting for an interview of some depth... and all you get is drivel. Boring, instantly forgettable drivel. What a waste.
I don't want a Smiths reunion. They were better than that. The Smiths was a moment in time that will stay there forever. Morrissey has far too much integrity to piss all over their legacy, no matter what money is involved.
''We all gunna pop out clogs... and you turn 50 this year'' basically saying you might die soon so you need to tell us how long are going to continue...
I cant aggree with Morrisesy's take on, nobody can interfere with you on the stage. Ummm.....Dimebag? An errant fan jumping on stage to assault Liam Gallagher, to which, Noel defended Liam by hitting the guy over the head with a guitar given to him by who?? Johnny Marr.
I agree he's a good interviewer but like many, he has no understanding of the word irony. Morrissey and Ian Brown forming a band would not be "a great irony".
I love this interview, Morrissey just seems so much more relaxed and open compared to other interviews :D
I really enjoyed Morrissey's interview of Zane Lowe
"Is there a part of you that gets a kick out of saying no?' 'No No No No No'
Saw him in LA recently and him and the band were off he charts excellent!!!

Zane: Is there a part of you that gets a kick out of saying no?
Morrissey: No. No no no no no. No"
You will continue forever Morrissey! Your smile is beautiful.

Morrissey is GOD... The most Educated man in the music industry
I saw the Smiths in Berkeley in the late 80's. I never realized they only did two US tours. That show was great, though.
Someones full of shit. They split in early '87
A Morrissey/Brown combo, for better or worse, would be a fascinating record.
Zane ‘thousand words a minute’ Lowe
He never planned to stop. Still hasn't
Morrissey has the best sense of dry humour.
Zane listen , he's told you he is not going to re-form the Smith's!!
LET IT GO man.

Morrissey is MY pure nature...

Morrisey

eek the touchy subject. "smiths reunion."
It's boring. Wish people just left the bloody Smiths in the past
Quite simply a Smiths reunion would be a terrible mistake
Every Morrissey song predicted the coronavirus, how about Every Day is Like Sunday ? Because Every day is like Sunday now
Sure as hell does!
what happened to morrissey glasses over the years?

@toesmith187 yes I thought he did well also. He got Morriseey talking a lot, and that's a feat.
Why do people always harp on about the Smiths. The interview was going well but Zane Low just couldn't leave it alone
I swear this guys like flirting with him
Was he getting flustered there at the beginning? OHMYGODIDIE

I always thought this was a good interview.
Probably helps that he's clearly a fan... even irritable guys like Yorke and Gallagher seem to like Zane.
Peacock Affect Think again
roses down, only the smiths to go!

Zane talks and talks and talks pfffff
''We all gunna pop out clogs... and you turn 50 this year'' basically saying you might die soon so you need to tell us how long are going to continue...
@mmyyppaarrttyy you sure? he mentions jesus in few songs "i have forgiven jesus" how u know he's an atheist?
@mmyyppaarrttyy actually he's agnostic...

Moz looks really great for a 50-year-old man. Agree?
Not particularly tbh
Yes!
Zane is so out of his depth here
zane doesnt really know what hes talking about here
I agree he's a good interviewer but like many, he has no understanding of the word irony. Morrissey and Ian Brown forming a band would not be "a great irony".
Zane is so cringe. It seems outside of this interview most people like him, he tries way too hard.
I sooooo dislike this interview guy for soooo many reasons. Everybody knows that he just found a new girl friend.
