Veseli Zhabokrychi (1972)

The film tells about the life and customs of a Ukrainian village in the distant past. The village elder, after a heavy drinking binge, having lost track of the days, decided to drink not every day, but every other day. Annoyed that no one was tearing off the leaves from the calendar, he forbade young people to gather in the evenings for festivities. But it is in the evening that Alenka and Timosh’s first date should take place. Smart guys and girls decided to help the lovers and get the foreman drunk so that he would forget about his ban. Literature lovers will immediately recognize in the film the work of the classics of Ukrainian literature Mark Kropivnitsky, Mikolay Gogol, Ivan Kotlyarevsky and Stepan Vasilchenko. This is exactly the picture of the Kyiv Film Studio of Feature Films named after Alexander Dovzhenko by the Ukrainian director Viktor Ivanov “Merry Zhabokrichi”, released in 1972. The film was released in the RSFSR on July 16, 1973.
