Satan comes to Rochester Cathedral

  • Rochester Cathedral is one of the oldest churches in England. Founded not long after Canterbury and by St Augustine, it was rebuilt by the Normans. While the building itself is interesting and features some beautiful sculptures, it seems, to me at least, to have lost its way. For while there is no Rood cross any more and indeed few Christian symbols, it has now embraced dragon symbolism.
    In this video, we examine the church, exploring the meaning of the architecture before confronting the clear meaning of modern imagery, which says this is no longer a Christian building but part play-ground and part canvas for the new religion of environmentalism.
    Watch this video to the end. You will be very surprised where it leads.

    The last time I visited Rochester Cathedral they had a bloody golf course inside !.....I kid you not.....a bloody pitch and put set-up of all things !.........I walked straight out. Only Archbishop Wokeby could preside over such nonsense.

      Exactly!. And then they wonder why nobody takes them seriously any more. I included a picture of the golf course near the end of this video. If you haven't seen it till the end, then I think you will enjoy what I propose should be done with our great cathedrals and it is not turning them into golf courses.
      As for Wellby??? He looks a complete clown in his silly hat and coat. Perhapos he could get a job on a fairground. I think he would be better suited to Billy Smart's Circus than as the most senior prelate in the CofE.

      Unfortunately, it is not only the CofE that has gone 'woke'. Catholicism too has followed this path. My sisters in particular are horrified by what the present papacy is doing. I regard myself as a non-denominational Christian. I like to learn from other Christians too. What is needed now is for Christians of all types to prepare for the return of their Lord. @@AdrianGilbert1 The Catholic Church, is a Military Order, which has a Marxist Pope as its head, they preach a false Gospel of works, pray to Mary - idol worship, and dead saints, tell people they need a see a priest to get their sins forgiven. The only one that died for man’s sins is Jesus Christ, fully God, fully man. This is simply, the spiritual warfare we are in, Law v Grace.
      Born again believers are saved, justified, forgiven, reconciled to God by Faith alone in Jesus Christ and his perfect sacrifice. Everybody else, everybody on this earth is guilty under the law, because the law is perfect, they are not, but are counting on their “ good deeds “ - ( works of the law ) to be justified before God, which they never will be. Repentance is a change of mind - to trusting in the one that paid the sin debt you could never pay…To enter heaven we have to receive Gods righteousness, which is by Faith. God bless ❤

But one very large piece hanging from the Crypt/Naive Inspirred by Draco Roffensis and Rochester Cathedral was these Dragons. I have been posting videos for years but usually they go unnoticed except by a small audience. This one is going viral. I believe it is because people are at last waking up to how our civilization (not just Britain) is under attack by demonic forces. The dragon symbolises this. For dragons in mythology hide in caves while sneaking out to take victims. Satan is like that. This manifestation indicates a more overt phase has been reached. Christians must wake up and realise that we are in the midst of a mind-war.

      You are right. I think it is time for the people of England, the English, to claim back our sacred spaces from those who abuse them. There is a long tradition of Reformation in England with people like John Wycliffe, John Bunyan and John Wesley showing the way. It is a law of nature that, over time, corruption creeps into even the best and holiest institutions. At those times, new ideas need to be injected and old ideas given a shaking. We are living at such a time now,
      Christians need to climb out of the slough of despond and get busy again bringing new fish into the empty churches. We won't do that if we try to bend the Gospels to fit Darwinism and other fallacies like the Big Bang Theory. Bring God back into the church and we will soon be converting the Muslims even to Christ and not cowering in a corner while they build mosques on every street corner. Indeed those mosques too will be converted into churches in preparation for the return of the Messiah.

      Jesus is the incarnation of the logos. It says this at the beginning of John's Gospel and he was the most gifted and highly initiated of all the apostles. God creates by the 'word' logos, which also means 'law'. When God 'speaks' it is in the form of commandments and these 'words' are the law. Jesus synchronised his will with that of his Father in Heaven and so became the incarnation of the the law. I’m sorry not to have watched the full video, but I thought I’d leave a brief message (even if I’m not entitled to) to say I think that these sorts of events and exhibitions which are put together to draw visitors in are a good thing. It might not increase congregation numbers, but if it makes more people feel like they are welcome in the building, it’s doing good.
    Perhaps in future years your suggestion of Old Testament / New Testament panels along with reflective music might happen. Maybe you might even offer to arrange it?
    Some background: I previously spent some time working as a musician in cathedrals, including Rochester until about 15 years ago. Over the years I have probably become more understanding of these ‘extras’.

    • @AdrianGilbert1
      @AdrianGilbert1  10 днів тому

      Well, I do see that Cathedrals need to be creative in their methods. My proviso is that they also need to remain true to the Faith that they preach. I found the dragon very offensive, especially since there was nothing on display to suggest this was an actively Christian building. What notices there were concerned Green issues (Gaia), Textus Raffensis (though not its content, other than the dragon) and advertisements for Jazz and Blues Festivals.
      The trouble with using the building in this way is that de-consecrates it. There is such a thing as the Holy Ghost, which manifests as a refined atmosphere of holiness. It is meant to be a House of God not a village hall.
      If it were used in a Godly way, and my suggestion about gentle music and explanatory postings concerning the Christian Faith, \I am sure people would come.
      I would add, I hve been in many mosques, in Egypt and Turkey as well as the Dome of the Rock and al Aqsa Mosque. I can tell you, Muslims would never dream of treating their holy buildings in this way. Far from it. They are carpeted inside and you must remove your shoes before entering. Treat a building as a house of God and you have a chance of it becoming so. Use it like a public market and God will stay away.
      To end on a positive note, I assume you have played that organ then. It looks wonderful. I would love to hear it and the choir singing sometime.

We only have to look at history to see that Peace never lasts forever, especially when we take it for granted. WE have been guilty of familiarity. We took it for granted that things could only get better. It is not true. They can get much worse and very quickly if the balance is shifted too much.

    Rochester is a city by default, in that it has a Church of England cathedral and bishop. It cannot be 'demoted' from its status as a 'cathedral-city'. Here in Somerset, even our tiny town of Wells is a 'cathedral-city'. 'Satan' does not exist! 'He' is a part of ancient Hebrew metaphysics and cosmology. Human beings do not require a 'Tempter' to make us do monstrous things: in the words of the ex-Primus of the Episcopal Church of Scotland, Richard Holloway, we are caught "between the monster and the saint". It is part of our 'human condition'. The Church needs to ditch its literalist readings of our scriptures: because they make no sense to contemporary people. I write this as a convinced believer that the Creator God of Israel, expected to send his Messiah (according to one strand of Judaism) was embodied in the young male Jew, Jesus of Nazareth. However, getting to that figure is not simply a matter of reading the Gospels and Letters of the Early Church. Being a follower of Jesus today takes some thinking: perhaps more than has been necessary since the Scholastics! Personally, I have found the writings of Jewish Jesus Scholars (Geza Vermes, Paula Fredriksen, and Daniel Boyarin) particularly helpful in bringing Jesus to 'life', and making sense of him.

    • @AdrianGilbert1
      @AdrianGilbert1  6 днів тому +1

      Well, while I applaud your Philosophic outlook, I think you should maybe re-read the Gospels after all, actually the Old Testament too. The serpent makes his first appearance right back in Genesis. Now, I know there is a lot that needs unpacking in that story, however, the Bible is definite that there were 'fallen angels' who came to earth and messed up the human race. I think the Jews also believe this, though they are not so keen on the Jesus being their expected messiah bit of the bible.
      Fast forward to the time of Jesus, and he not only meets with Satan in the desert (who tempts him) but he goes round exorcising demons wherever he goes. Thus, to be a true Christian, you do need to believe that he was not 'out of his head' doing this. Evidently, there are invisible entities who can on occasion possess people. Later, the apostles carried on this tradition of expelling evil spirits and it is even done today.
      As for poor Rochester, I am not making this up. \It has had its city status revoked and people in Kent are not amused. It seems the Government these days doesn't care much whether there is a bishop or not. City status is given to places like Brighton and even Croydon I think, while it is taken from Rochester, which has a very old Cathedral and a bishop. Unfortunately, he mistakes his Cathedral for a museum.
      Anyway, thank you for your comment. Why not watch a few more of my videos. Got to be good for a laugh if nothing else.

      @@AdrianGilbert1 Adrian, raised in Ramsgate, Kent (I attended Chatham House Grammar before university) I feel the pain of the people of Kent. But all they need do is to continue to refer to the 'cathedral-city of Rochester'. This is a status not open to 'royal fiat'. Wells is England's smallest 'cathedral-city' (possibly much smaller than Rochester); and the people of Somerset will never permit that status to be removed. And, have you ever visited St David's? It's a village, with one of Wales' largest cathedrals. As for the rest of your comment; thank you for it, and I may follow you more: though I tend to restrict my self-mortification to following 'Anglican Unscripted', 'Catholic Unscripted', Rev Dan and Rev Brett Murphy. You see, where feminism compelled the Church to re-assess the position of women, and ignore Paul and the Pastoral Epistles, and 'abolitionism' performed the same service for the Church with regard to slavery, on the subject of human sexuality the Church adamantly refuses to allow the insights of the contemporary 'human sciences' to exert any influence of scripture whatsoever. Most churchgoers are not able to read Hebrew, Kouine Greek, Syriac or Aramaic: and so we are compelled to read IN TRANSLATION. Do check out the footnote, in his personal translation of the entire NT, to 1 Cor 6:9ff (by Dr Daviud Bentley Hart) of the word 'arsenokoitai'. It is a lengthy footnote: but it reveals how bigotry often comes before accuracy.

      I am glad to hear you enjoyed my video, even more that you found it inspiring. It seems to me that the Christian churches have a lot to feel inspired about but instead prefer to remain in a depressed and even ignorant state. That is a shame.
      What am it? Well, I was brought up Catholic but I would not describe myself as such now. I prefer the term 'inter-denominational Christian'. There is much Catholic dogma that I do not accept and that is even before we get onto the ridiculous pomp, costumes, politics and popery. I recognise that there are many very good Catholics but see that there are other equally good Christians in other churches.
      My father was a very devout Catholic, who believed it was the only true version of Christianity. I believe that the Christian world is like a pot that is smashed in many pieces. Each retains a portion of the whole. And so I am willing to talk and mix with all denominations to hear what they have to say. In this way I put together my own pot, which hopefully will hold good wine.
      I also have been following my own, idiosyncratic path that you will not find in any text book. I do not have a 'fixed' faith as such. I believe that your faith must change as you grow. In fact religion is all about growth and change, not clinging to what you were taught as a five year old. We are on a journey. A good church should be like a bus: you buy your ticket and climb aboard, confident you will be taken to your destination. However, if that bus has no wheels, then you would be wise to get off and hitch-hike instead. It may be a gamble that you will get a lift, but you are not going anywhere in a bus without wheels.
      That is probably a longer answer than you were expecting. If you want to know more, watch my many videos. If you want to find a better bus, then you might consider joining 'The Invisible College'. I established it for free-thinkers who want guidance without having dogmas forced down their throats. For what |I see so lacking in the CofE and other churches today is knowledge. Emotion is no substitute and neither is a retreat into the past. We must confront the present and act accordingly. That is what I try to do.

    • @AdrianGilbert1
      @AdrianGilbert1  17 днів тому +2

      This is easy to answer. Paganism, especially worship of serpents and serpent art, is indigenous to the entire Americas, from Alaska and Canada down to the tip of terra del fuego.
      This is explained in Maya and Aztec sources. The age previous to the age of the jaguar (which finished in 2012) ended in a great cataclysm. Those who survived were on mountain tops, cold and hungry. They had no fire but then a divine being appeared to them. He gave them fire in return for blood sacrifices.
      This being was clearly demonic but they took a blood oath to 'feed' him and other pagan gods. This is why they had all the heart sacrifices etcetera. At that time the world was not yet saved by the blood of Christ. Theblood sacrifives carried on in the Americas till the arrival of Hernan Cortes and his men in Mexico. They brought with them monks who carried out an exorcism of the Templo Mayor in Mexico City (Tenochtitlan).
      So, basically, serpent cults are demonic. Keep away from them. Do not make blood contracts with them. If you already have, then get baptised and pray to God for forgiveness and healing. The Devil is powerful but he is not as powerful as Jesus Christ who has command over the serpents. I hope that helps.

There is much I disagree about concerning the mainstream churches but I do love God and have had a number of extraordinary, mystical experiences myself. The dragon in Rochester cathedral is actually there as a symbol of the triumph of justice and law over lawlessness. It comes from the Textus Roffensis which is the oldest book of English Law in existence and which applied the concept of law (a fundamentally Judeo-Christian concept) to the Anglo-Saxon and later peoples of Kent and England.
    The dragon appears in the only illustration in Textus from the letter R - R for Roffensis (Rochester). We might well wonder how a dragon can be in a cathedral, what spiritual significance it might have, and whether there are in fact any dragons in the Bible. Dragons in the Bible and in medieval literature often represent evil, or sin - things that we are frightened of. St George defeats a dragon - and in the legend this represents the triumph of good over evil. To some extent the serpent that beguiles Adam and Eve has evolved into a terrifying, fire-breathing beast. In the book of Wisdom (11:17-20) we find this graphic and significant reference to a dragon as part of creation:
    For your all-powerful hand,
    which created the world out of formless matter,
    did not lack the means to send upon them a multitude of bears, or bold lions,
    or newly-created unknown beasts full of rage,
    or such as breathe out fiery breath,
    or belch forth a thick pall of smoke,
    or flash terrible sparks from their eyes;
    not only could the harm they did destroy people,
    but the mere sight of them could kill by fright.
    Even apart from these, people could fall at a single breath
    when pursued by justice
    and scattered by the breath of your power.
    But you have arranged all things by measure and number and weight.
    The dragon in the cathedral is a commemorative, celebratory artwork which reminds us how the rule of law is a vital and valuable part of our Christian heritage. It is not pagan, any more than informing folk about how the gardens are kept in an ecologically positive way.

      All very erudite but if this is true, why is it not explained, with posters and booklets in the Cathedral? Why are there no symbols or pictures of St George or St Michael taming the dragon?
      The dragon is synonymous with the worm or serpent first encountered in the Garden of Eden. He tempts Man to disobey the first law of God: 'Don't eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil'.
      Eating the fruit is synonymous with what we now call science. But the serpent speaks with a forked tongue. He teaches falsehood that lead to the imprisonment of Man on planet Earth. Man is cast down and thenceforth must work hard for his bread, cultivating ground that withut care and attention produces only weeds. The way to heaven was blocked by the angel with the fiery sword, an allusion I believe to St Michael.
      Jesus came to rescue us and enable a path out of here. |However, Satan has not gone away. |He may be a dragon but he is still an angel, some say a fallen Seraph, and he is very intelligent. He is all the time trying to trick us out of faith in the mission of |Jesus Christ. Many of our sciences are Satanic in the sense that they are half truths.
      A prime example is the Doctrine of Evolution as taught by the Darwinists. It is a lie to say that life began ipso facto from the mud and slime of the earth. It is a divine creation requiring intelligent design. Nor does evolution proceed willy-nilly by random chance and selection of the 'fittest'. Every species that we see on Earth has ben planted here, just as it says in Genesis. WE have the evidence for this in the fossil record with 6, major extinction events followed by entirely new species being placed here without anticedents from the previous era.
      Today SAtan is still active and is seeking to replace Christianity with a 'One World' religion based on a modern form of paganism called Gaia. The dragon represents this. He is not a 'giver of laws' but a deceiving spirit that takes mankind away from God.
      Clearly you know your bible and you will therefore be aware that the 'End Times' are portrayed symbolically in Matthew 24 and the Apocalypse of John. We are warned of the difficulties of these times, which I believe are upon us now. The eventual fate of the serpent/dragon is to be thrown into the |Lake of Fire. Before that, Christ will return and inaugurate the Millennial Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.
      This might all sound like wishful thinking but it is what we have been taught. The doctrine of Gaia and salvation through ecology is a false teaching. For this world will pass away. What matters is saving the souls of mankind, as many as possible, and that, not gardening, is the job and duty of the church.

      @@AdrianGilbert1 Because having the dragon there isn't ABOUT any of that. It's about the heritage of law. There are plenty of signs around explaining why it is there. It is a work of art and cathedrals have displayed artworks that reference Christianity for centuries. The Textus Roffensis was produced by a bunch of monks. Affirming the rule of law and displaying the artwork of blind people is hardly unchristian. Criticism such as yours is narrow and restrictive and there is a bigger, wider picture.

    • @AdrianGilbert1
      @AdrianGilbert1  17 днів тому

      What's Catholic? I never said the bread was a representation of Christ. What is a representation is sharing bread as in the Last Supper. I agree with yuou that the Catholic Doctrine of 'Transubstantiation is a misunderstanding of what Jesus was saying. He was the embodiment of the word or logos, on account of making himself a pure vessel to receive it. What is the 'logos' then. It is the utterance of God and when God speaks, his word is the law (logos). God doesn't speak like we do but through issuing energy, most especially light (phos in Greek). The light is absorbed by vegetation, including wheat plants., They turn the light into wheat grain and from this we make bread.
      In other words, Jesus, as the Christ, is identifying his 'body' as the entire creation that is made from condensed light. This is the meaning of the first chapter of St John's Gospel. He wanted his disciples to think on this when they share food, especially bread and wine.
      Unfortunately, early theologians interpreted this tp mean he was transforming the bread by some miraculous means into something else. They then attributed thjis power to the subsequent priesthood, so that nobody could have communion without them in charge. This is a mockery of Christ's teaching and is one of the main reasons I left the Catholic Church. IMHO the bread remains bread, just as it did at the Last Supper. Eating bread, especially when it is shared with others, should be a reminder to us of Jesus and his Last Supper.
