I know I was wondering to in manga he is very kind to them and he is worried about them like our ciel health he don t want him to feel bad about his condition so I don t see him as a bad parent.
The Lady of Time I know I’m late but basically he said that he would rather hand the mansions estate and wealth back over to the queen rather then O!ciel it anything were to happen to R!Ciel. I think it’s just the level of favoritism he shows sometimes, and he doesn’t spend nearly as much time with O!ciel as Tanaka or R!ciel, or makes an effort too. I believe there are some other small things, I’m just stating from what I’ve heard, and while I understand conditions were different back then, Vincent still doesn’t get a “best dad of the year” award from me.

He wants to protect him so that he does not deal with so much responsibility while being chronically sick. If you think about it, what sort of self obsessed man would relinquish the his title so easily. Vincent can be neglectful at times but he was not evil enough to hate his younger son enough to not want him to run his estate.
