as this is a Central European build and I'm kinda familiar with this region, I'm sure that Episode 591 will be about finally finishing the highway ringroad of Altengrad... not because Akruas wouldn't be skilled enough to build it, but because it's how long it would take in real life, at least based on my home country's story, lol 😂
@@AdamBurianek92 episode 591 will probably be something "after NATO-Russia war" or its consequences (lack of money, etc)... like history repeates itself... :D
An excellent episode of a great series. Loved how you explained why that longest tunnel in Germany had to be build and when you explained how to "tunnel" a tunnel
This series has come so far! I remember being hyped for altengrad long before it was hit by ww2 and how devestated i was that the beautiful tram-entrance in the old town was suddenly rubble... The dedication you put into this City over and over again to show history and change is the best thing i've ever seen in CS! Awesome content as always.
The tram entrance was one of my favourite parts of the build. I feel like an old Altengrad resident who remembers the good old days but is very excited about the future.
Same, huge fan since i saw the first episode 2 years ago. Since then ive never missed an episode. Such a nice series. And yes, you really feel like an old citizen watching your town change. But the worst for me was when so much of the old town/inner city was torn down for panel block skyrises. I really wanted to write a hate comment, but thats just how history goes eh?
The lack of suburban sprawl in Altengrad is damn too high! Memes aside, it is definitely needed, especially in areas where there are old town apartments abruptly giving way to empty spaces. Implementing procedurally generated objects and strategically placing a few house 'pop cubes' within them could create a sense of a charming, less busy sleepy suburban landscape on the outskirts (just my opinion of course).
This is by far the best urban construction series I've found in a very long time. So informative, so innovative - each part is linked to a story and Hunter background information. Storytelling at its best. I hope there will be many more episodes, but there's not that much time left - it's the 90s after all. Hopefully, the next series will have a similar concept - perhaps presenting or continuing the history of US cities that donoteat1 started.
I mean... I wish I just had 5% of your skill, creativity, endurance (and I suppose time) when it comes to CS. Every single frame is jaw dropping. In every episode as well!
Best CS build I've seen, not from visual standpoint but sheer ammoutn of tought, knowledge and planning that went into it. Learned a lot from You and I hope Altengrad's future will be just as grounded as its past.
i came across this series when the WW2 special episode was posted. i was already subscribed. But, after that, UA-cam, for some reason, never recommended me these videos... Until ep 89 was posted. i watched that and was captivated and, now, after 1 month of binge-watching from episode 1, i'm finally caught up with live episodes! ^w^ This series is great should really be featured officially. One of the best series i've seen, not just of CS, but in general. Honestly great.
I feel a eastern highspeed railway line bypass coming up with a new gothrough station to replace the old eastern station and the old end station near the old town:-)
This looks great! FYI, with the curbless road networks the elevated segments will clip through the terrain, so it’s super easy to design custom tunnel portals (just elevate the segment and sink it below the surface, then use a clipping surface to make the portal visible, then build the portal around it). Also works really well if you want to design stuff above the surface and then sink it underneath. Great video!!
I am quite surprised at how the new highway junctions perform. But now I'm quite curious and anxious if they can keep up in the modern times. Can't wait for the next episode on Postmodernist Architecture!
From 2019 until 2022 I traveled through the Behringen Tunnel pretty much daily. I lived (and still do) north of it near Erfurt and in that time I worked south of it in Ilmenau. PS: Erfurt mentioned! \o/ 🍺🌭
feel like you should have added a diamond interchange between the new highway and the rural road that passes below it, to connect to local traffic. the motorway to the panel factory is otherwise completely cut off
At 22:46 can someone tell me what is the name of the mod that shows how many roads aren't connected? As you can see it shows more info on the city (it's located top left)
Not sure what you mean, top left is just the vanilla button for info, then procedural objects, then the UUI with some mods icons, TMPE is related to traffic, maybe the icon with magnifying glass and road? That's Network detective.
Hello and thank you for this wonderful series. But I would be very interested to know if there are also developments for the tram of Altengrad, or if everything in the future will only be geared towards the car. Thank you very much and greetings to the Czech Republic.☺☺☺☺
There is only one thing I disagree - Strahovský tunel is maybe short, but it helped a lot to traffic, as previously all cars has to "climb" from Smíchov to over Strahov in just standard streets.
Awesome video, informative. But, please make sure the video titles are specific; there is a big difference between Cities Skylines and City Skylines II!
Hi, I noticed watching you build roads, you have the measurements for what you build. Straight or angels. Mine don't do it anymore. Idk why? I can't fig u re it out. Any ideas thanks.
@@Akruas hi, it worked now. i must off disable it cuz skyvee has a warning on it. i didnt know there was a mod for this. thought it was in game. so if mod brakes or its removed. theres no markings when doing the roads? i never played without mods. thanks for helping me. jacob.
@@jacob-sk6bh yes if the mod is gone then the measurements are gone too, but Precision Engineering is fine, the warning is just about the mod being old
You need more suburban sprawl outside the city, maybe not now because of the terrible state of the economy in 1990s Eastern Europe but starting in the 2000s you should really consider new housing developments out there
I'm not really familiar with this channel, watched maybe three prior videos here. Still get used to the accent. But at the start it sounded like you were saying Thanos rather than tunnels XD
*Do not build ramps downtown for the tunnel* , don't repeat american mistakes of clogging freeways with local traffic, and clogging downtowns with freeway traffic... Are lower-speed, small expressways like in East Asia better though?
Probably, but the tunnel (like the rest of Altengrad) exists more as a visual example than as realistic infrastructure. I'm guessing Akruas placed the tunnel portals first and they coincidentally ended up across the river.

You're really good at this game. The city is looking beautiful. I can't wait for post-modern!!! Did New Urbanism happen much in Central Europe?
I was so stumped by the sudden reference to Thanos at the start of the video and then I realized that he was taking of Tunnels..haha

-a museum of the fall of communism
-a hotel
