Had everything but riding shoes before I got my bike. I now have 3 jackets, 6 pair of gloves, 2 helmets, a pair of riding shoes. Gear don't leave home without it!

I love my gear. Another benefit is never having to worry about what I wear. I already look cool because I’m wearing ‘motorbike’!😊

Back in the 80s, I rode in a T-shirt and wearing a beanie helmet. I was extremely lucky to have never crashed and sustained major injuries. I now wear a full-face helmet and a lot of leather when I ride my Harley, but 17 lbs of armored gear when I ride my BMW.

Top to bottom protection for me, and its comfortable to wear too. Shoei modular helmet, Klim Rally airbag vest under my Klim Marrakesh jacket with upgraded L2 armor, DYNS Dyneema AA riding jeans, Alpinestars gloves and boots.

I replace my helmet padding all the time. More so because I have spares on-hand so that I can swap them out to have a dry helmet.

Lots of good info there. Protective gear is always going to give you the best chance of walking away from an off. It's a basic subject but one that is often overlooked. Hot weather is no excuse now - vented jackets and armor have come a long way and offer great protection whilst providing almost the same airflow as just a t-shirt.
I've got those same boots (TCX Clima Surround Gore-Tex). Super comfortable both on and off the bike, and good for 4 seasons simply by the choice of socks you wear.

I hear a lot of people calling those protectors Dee-thirty, but I'm pretty sure it's Dee-Three-Oh. The last symbol looks more like a letter than a digit to me. Maybe I'm just not used to the font.

My prosthetist told me that when lane splitting became legal in California in 2017, motorcycle rider limb loss increased by OVER 400%.
    That’s insane.

I am 42. I am starter in motorcycles. I am planning to pass a test for riding motorcycles and start riding them. People say that I am a good car driver and I have good reflexes. But I am little scared because of risks involved in riding motorcycles. I'll try to pass a test for motorcycle. At first I'll drive very slow and cautious. Soory for my english, I am from Croatia, Europe.

Last Thursday a car cut 2 lanes to U turn (he was in a complete stop, crossed 2 solid lined lanes)
0 reaction time, didn't even have time to reach for the brake lever
My bike directly impacted into the driver's door at 70 kmph
my CB 650 R is totaled
I had a full helmet, Rev'it Eclipse, normal jeans, Taichi Gloves, and hardened shoes
Flesh Wounds + Bruises on my upper chest (near neck)
Big long bruise inner outer right arm
scratch and bruise on my lower right inner leg
Swollen middle and ring finger on my left hand (tried to reach for clutch)
hurts when typing or try to make a fist
ER nurses said "we thought you got these from driving a car and hurt from my own air-bag"

from what i can tell, my Unik Mars helmet is the exact same as the Voss dualsport one (or made in the same factory with the same shell at least) you use an example of a budget helmet. It's ECE 22.06 certified and even without a pinlock it doesn''t fog that much (used it in temperatures below freezing). Not too shabby for 150 euro at my local bike/car parts store.
But finding accessories like new visors was a pain, but i now know at least one other helmet that uses the same parts.

I was of the idea that a full race boot, textile pants and a hi viz textile jacket was a must. But now I want casual motorcycle hi top sneakers, kevlar jeans and a minimilist black but reflective stripes on a jacket. Cause I am more often riding to coffeeshops and walking about. I dont want to walk around in obvious motorcycle gear now. I think thats the trend now minimalistic casual trendy but protective gear.
There is more urban style gear than ever before now. Why is it that basketball players wear hi top sneakers to prevent them breaking their ankle and not boots?

Bought a nice 2 piece leather suit, Dainese, black, red and white. I'll be 70 in a few years, the old bark and bone's don't heal as quickly anymore.

Tbh, I've found that I could do with my motorbike gear on pretty much all the time.
Just as a general precaution, especially as I get older 🤷‍♂
(not the helmet so much, but trousers, jacket and boots 👍)

Do you know how much protection motorcross type gear will give on the road?
I've got body armour, which has chest, back, shoulder, and elbow protection. Knee pads, and motorcross boots. Full helmet and goggles, and light weight gloves.
How much use is this one the road? I don't do much anyway (as its a trail bike) but do sometimes, and I was wondering.

As much as I do wear my helmet, there is nothing like the wind on my face. I definitely take a ride once in a while without it.
