Are you kidding me? Eric Carr is a HELL of a lot better than Eric Singer. It’s not even close. Eric Carr sang better, played better and was a better fit for Kiss. Eric Singer overplays everything. He wants to wow you with visuals tricks (who the f**k cares about tricks). Eric Carr punched you straight in the face from the start. Eric Carr was the best and blows Eric Singer away.

What Kiss album did Singer do that made the record. Exactly. Not one. Singer sucks.
I cannot tell one drummer from the next unless it's really obvious. They're all pros to me. But Carr DEFINITELY was the better musician overall.....he sang better than Gene or even Paul. I agree with Tommy on the point that the Hot in the Shade tour should have been commemorated by a live album. I’ve heard Mark give this explanation before of Carr’s playing on that tour and I just do not hear what Mark hears. I hear a band at a high point of their run. In fact, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an off the soundboard release from this tour. And I do get what Mark is saying from the perspective of Mark plays the drums and hears errors the rest of us are oblivious to. As far as Eric Singer, I have never viewed him as a better drummer than Carr because it sounds like to me they have two completely different styles of drumming. And to my ears, they’re both top tier talent.
Love Eric Carr and wish he would have been on a Official Live LP and his playing upped Gene and Paul's Playing. Eric Singer is a Awesome Drummer and can play anything thrown at him; he really is a Total Package as a Drummer.
All 3 drummers had their special qualities and classic songs that they were a part of. Eric Carr never got uitlized properly in terms of his songwriting input. He had good ideas. Actually all 3 drummers had good ideas and a sense of what a good song comprised of. For me, Eric Carr was brilliant on Creatures and Lick It up and Singer was on the Revenge, Sonic Boom and Monster album that held up songwise for me. Peter's contribution in the early days made those classic songs what they are. All had different contributions and as a Kiss fan from 1977 there are certain songs that stand out drumming wise. If you listened to Alive, you will hear the uniqueness of Peter's drumming on all the songs. Their solid. I saw just Singer and Carr live and they were excellent live drummers. Good show and yes Mark makes good points here about both. Everyone is different but at the end of the day, the music will always speak for itself.
Carr sang really well too. Better than Singer. Better than Gene or Paul really. Carr was the better musician with his inputs on albums that kept Kiss alive (pun intended) along with Vinnie during those lean, grunge years.
As a 36-year-old kiss fan and a drummer. I'm a much much much younger version of Mark😂😂 JK I love Peter Criss and Eric Carr but Eric Singer was my favorite. Not only Eric Singer was the kiss drummer for most of my life. But I think he had the best tempo of all three kiss drummers. He was able to play any song that Eric Carr or Peter Criss could play. He was also a fantastic singer and I think. I think he helped carry the band vocally the past 10 years. I can always notice Eric singer's vocals when they were all singing... Kind of similar to Michael Anthony in Van Halen. Yes not the same but similar.
As good as Eric Carr might have been. I think a lot of respect and love he gets is because of the sound the drums have on the Creatures album and lesser degree Lick It Up. So I wonder would Eric Carr get so much love if Creatures didn’t have that bombastic sound. Yes Eric Carr’s tempo was ridiculously too fast. Particularly on the 70’s songs. He played like he needed to get to a bathroom break. Not saying he might have been told by “someone” else to do it but it definitely was true. Now I like Eric Singer too but my gripe with him is in Badlands,Alice Cooper, and the Revenge tour he was playing like he can which blows away his just keep the beat of the song crap he was doing when he became the cat. Even his drumming on Sonic Boom and Monster are very tame compared to what he “can” do. IMO cool show and topics guys 😁
@@loveagainstgods5116 I really do not want to disparage Carr. He was solid and serviceable. Saint & Sinner is four-on-the-floor. Carr has a nice kick double on the three, but Steely Dan wasn't going to ask him to sit in for any sessions.
I like Eric Carr more. And it has nothiung to do with how technical he is. I don't care for how one plays better than the other. Singer may be more technical. And I love Badlands, Brutal Planet and Monster. But none of those albums are as good as Creature and Lick It Up. Thats why I like Eric Carr more.
Mark is entitled to his informed opinion. The man does play the drums. As for musical preferences I'm with Tommy. I like what I like. I think Poundcake is the Van Halen (Hagar) era best song. I like Humans being. As for Van Halen, it seems like Alex is a very angry person. He was still angry at Eddie, God rest his soul, for playing Michael Jackson. One would think he'd be proud of his brother for playing on an album that would go onto be legendary and a bestseller. That band was a mess. I do think Van Halen should have released a live album though.
Mark made a good point about pointing out the different chapters of Carrs drumming. 1980-1983, he was setting the tone and keeping that backbeat. But as the 80’s progressed and the same thing happened to guitar players, it became about who can drum the loudest and the fastest. Singer has a diverse resume of bands he played with. Sounds like Carr was just as an emotional guy and player as Peter Criss was.
I would love to hear you guys talk about the Madonna Decades tour. We saw her and I couldn't believe how this is what I wanted out of the final KISS tour- four distinct sets each covering a different decade and each featuring different costumes. Why are pop acts putting more effort into their productions?!?
Singer is the full package. Just look at his body of work. Undeniably a top-tier professional. Not my personal favorite KISS drummer, but the guy I would hire on a gig and not have to worry.

Singer is a better employee. Carr was a better drummer. If Paul and Gene would've known him then Anton Fig should have been in from the beginning. The most versatile drummer in KISS' gravitational pull.
Singer was great until the the makeup was put back on, after which he became nothing more than a Peter Criss clone... sad. However... Carr was the better drummer, brought a much needed kick in the ass to the band, in my opinion.

I get it that he was controlled, but as Mark said, and thank you Mark, he was in charge of his sound particularly by Lickitup. Eric Singer had and has so much more articulation and his snare tone was much beautiful in my humble opinion. Listen to Singer's drumming on Carnavals, top top quality!!!
