3:02 something I've learned over the years: never flash 2nd in a chase (doesn't always apply but most of the time)
if you know they are going to flash to survive you can almost preflash and still get the kill. never say never

I recently started playing Shen support after watching your videos again.
I rush Warmogs and the drill component of Titanic, then situational adjust for the game.
It's the most fun I've had in leauge in awhile, and I'm currently sitting at an 80% win rate with it.
Thank you xPetu for introducing me to this champion, and teaching me so much about him.

Might as well build Warmogs second, it doesn't come online until you build Titanic anyways right? Need the 550 extra health from it for the Warmogs passive to activate.
@@BenKLode Plus, as a support you have to take into account you aren't making as much gold as a solo lane. So only committing to Tunneler and then completing Warmogs matches your gold income to around lvl 9/10. Which is generally when laning phase ends, and allows me to take scraps without having to base for HP. I can help chunk the enemy, and then heal back to full to keep pressure.
@@williamjordan5123 Generally yes, I don't usually finish the Tunneler into an item because my 2nd full item is usually a tank item to respond to enemy team damage dealers.
I also build the tunneled specifically because it is the most flexible health item. I can build a Titanic, Sundered Sky, or Experimental Hexplate. Depending on where I am in the game when I go to finish it.
Most games don't last long enough for me to finish it though because I make impacts around the map early game to get my team ahead.
The support item gives you 200, and if you're running grasp you'll stack that as well. Warmog rush is currently the strat on Zilean, and often all it takes me is a dark seal or ruby crystal to push over the threshold.@@BenKLode
I admire your commitment to the mentality of self improvement. It is really not easy to go into a situation where your teammate made an obvious mistake, to not get emotional and still find a way to improve oneself.
That second game is such a valuable thing to keep in mind, losing your lane or getting behind doesn't mean you can't still be useful.

Tp is probably better overall strategically, but taking ghost makes it more fun and versitle during fights
Petu, you're doing a good job at teaching us various tips and tricks but sometimes, the student has insight to help the master. Please take mine into consideration.
As a Shen main, I feel like communication should be one of your main focuses because a great communication means a better use of your Ultimate in fights and a better team coordination. However, there's also an aspect of communication that's often forgotten: Summoner Spell tracking. Whenever you see an enemy use a Sum. Spell, at least ping it in chat so that others can keep track of it. Not everyone has your level of minimap awareness - to recognize a flash based on champion icons moving instantly a short distance. Ideally, you would type the time that the enemy Sum. Spell will come back up in chat, but very few people can do that, especially when there're many Sum. Spells used quickly in succession and that some enemies have Cosmic Insight.

4:31 It goes through because the soldiers are technically an ability, not a basic attack 😅. Shen's W only blocks basic attacks 😝.
Edit 4:41: Triggering on-hit effects has nothing to do with the type of attack an ability is. Most abilities that trigger on-hit effects are also basic attack resets like Fizz's W, Fiora's E, Nasus' Q, etc. Kayle's E is also a basic attack "modifier", not an ability that mimics basic attacks like Azir's Soldiers. It increases the range on her basic attacks, that's about it. The AoE waves are like the Hydras, but I never remember if the effect still applies even when blocked 🤷♂️.
Edit 4:56: Again, Azir's W is an ability, not a basic attack reset. There are no inconsistencies this time 😅.

I've been in your shoes before with a fed Vayne. They get overconfident and kill hungry resulting them dying over and over again.
As a Heartsteel enjoyer, I pray that someday a "I Was Wong About Heartsteel" video will drop, but I'll probably be waiting for a while 😂
It's a cool laning tool for sure, but my cs is usually rough as a Shen lane! I can never get it fast enough to justify anymore, since it's easier to get stacks in laning. Titanic just helps me wave clear and keep up with the team much better in gold, plus better side lane pressure for the split. How do you leverage heart steel to make it more worth?
Nowadays, players are a bit smarter due to free online content. Thus at lower levels teleport gets much more use that other summoners. Think about it. If you have tp, you just trade half your hp for the opponent's. Shove the wave, and bang 400hp, mana if you have it, item advantage and your opponent, in order to cope will either die or lose minion exp and gold which they can never get back. This compared to ignite which deals like 250 ish dmg does not mathematically make any sense. Additionally, better players mean, ignite does less because they won't let you kill them anyway, and they'll most likely end up trading 1 for 1 as they know to go for it when you engage them. Also triumph means that if they do kill you, they get a massive chance to live at 50hp even though they have grevious wounds. Now if you play a champ with high kill pressure, it can be worth it for the snowball but most players only play on good minion terms thus, even if you kill them, they effectively have better items a hp lead and now tempo on your back just like debaus's strat where in a bad matchup, instead of slowly getting strangled out of the game, you just build up bounties for your team and still have map presence and full farm. The strategy works better as the players get better because they are less likely to coinflip and feed/int their lane and will try really hard to play slowly and securely.
Xpetu has learned that Shen Soraka is amazing In a team together the global pressure of a split pusher is way too strong just imagine an assassin splitting with a shen Soraka grouped with adc holding mid and they have no idea where our juggler is

Its not ranked, but started playing some normals after years and years of being an ARAM andy. It was a rough first few games but yesterday stacked up a few wins in a row remembering the Shensei technology. Just wanted to say thanks for showing me how to better perform on my favorite champ. 16:28 Checked that guy's profile. He seems to have issues with brain connection rather than internet issues. He seems to force risky plays that often put his team in huge disadvantage. That definitely doesn't look like master-level player but I guess that's just elo inflation after these changes in ranking system.
