      "Capitalism leads to unequal distribution of wealth." Which is a good thing, because the people who work more and serve more deserve to live a better lifestyle than somebody who does less. Socialism is for the lazy and entitled.

      Venezuela is communist. Look at the U.S. power grabs, with special interests shelling it out. And the class divisions. Western Europe and Canada have tighter regulation over the economy, (democracy-socialist), enabling more businesses to stay afloat, and not have big swings. Also- more social program $ for the poor. As well as investment from abroad, and a free market. Communism is dictatorships like Red China or USSR. Or Venezuela. The people are treated like dogs, and have no rights.

      Thanks for your feelings, mean you care. Venezuelans abroad, through foundations send packs and boxes of food. It doesnt fix the issue, but it is a real help. What we most do is having two or three relatives abroad sending money to the rest here, that helps the majority cope with this super inflation. Foundations? hmm most of them work hard on sending chemotherapies chronic disease medicines, etc. Just informing, not an opinion. And yes, socialism at finest. Now goverment is promoting themselves as the saviors by sending food packs to the poorest, socialist strategies. Pray for us, goverment doing anything they want, militaries richer and richer, families being separated, and a feeling of elections of protests wont do much. Thank you all for caring about, sooner or later this will be over.

    There are very clear reasons why Venezuela is starving and none of them are socialism, poor economic management and over reliance on a single industry. If you want to blame a over simplified concept for the troubles then blame Capitalism, That concept is more to blame than "socialism". Not that you should blame a concept for human failings.

    • @ggadguy
      @ggadguy 8 років тому +1

      How can capitalism be to blame when the country had been under socialist rule under Chavis. Hyperinflation is coming from the central banks. There are government "price control" but they do not work. Real capitalism is when government is small and allows people to trade freely and keep their wages.

    • @MrSirFluffy
      @MrSirFluffy 8 років тому

      This was because of socialism. The price to sustain there policies were FAR too high, and because of there socialist economy there wasn't enough innovation to keep them globally competitive, there only way to make money was solely relying on the oil which took a dive in price.
      After Chavez took power farming, manufacturing, and research disappeared almost completely. They couldn't export anything so they survived off of mainly oil, trading it to import goods from other nations. Socialist economies suck, they destroy incentives and suppress innovation.

      "There are very clear reasons why Venezuela is starving and none of them
      are socialism, poor economic management and over reliance on a single
      industry" You just described socialism. Centralized Planning is what Socialism is. There is no competition and government mandates what and where food will be grown, not the market. Yes, Venezuela has the worst economy in the world due to centralized planning. Chile, on the other hand, has one of the freest nations in South America and is one of the most prosperous. It's pretty simple. If you oppress people by convincing them to give up their power to the state, it doesn't tend to work out well. Authoritarians are snakes, many have different ways to sell you the same shit product. Bondage and poverty.

    1, Don't implement socialism in a 3rd world country (Democratic socialism only works for wealthy countries like Canada, New Zealand, France, Ireland and Norway)
    2, Don't drop prices so low that businesses can't make a profit because they'll go broke and close down

    Maybe because OPEC on behalf of the G7 nations are manipulating the oil prices, the US and EU seized Venezuelan assets/bank accounts and blocked most global trade from entering that country. Now you say, a country with the largest oil reserves, can't buy food for its people. So then you talk about providing humanitarian aid to the starving people that you created.

      It is impossible for common man to send food to Venezuela. It is not practical. Only INGOS can do this. The INGOS are themselves corrupted. The half of donations go onto salary for volunteers. Their salaries are very high and they ride very expensive vehicles. Few monies go to needy people. By the way, why can't they produce own food? Don't they have land and water? Venezuela is a big country and rich in natural resources including water. Who owns the land and water?

    Short explanation: Unlike other oil selling countries like Russia, Saudis Arabia, etc, Venezuela doesn’t save money while oil prices are high, to supplement when oil prices are low.
    Instead, politicians and much the people prefer to spend more when oil prices are high (the people get more, politicians who give the people more are more popular) and they then experience severe problems when oil demand declines (such as in global recessions).
    And these busts are particularly bad as most food and daily products people need are not produced in Venezuela, but imported…..because the bulk of the Venezuelan economy and budget is in just one basket….oil extraction.

    Is there any forageable food in rural Venuzuela, to add to what they can buy? I understand the situation is dire. I'm just wondering if there is anything they can find in the countryside to add to their diet. I'm a U.S. food prepper, and I don't buy foods produced by other countries. I grow most of my own food and supplement my food supply with local wild edibles. I think this is a legitimate question.
