I’ve been going to MetalDays in Slovenia for years and love how it’s way more relaxed. Went to Wacken in 2019 and was spoiled for fun and good weather. Still want to go to many others!
Obscene Extreme Fest - of course!
I've been to Graspop 20 times, this year it will be my 21st, I was there in 1996 it still rules!
then you should once go to the Hellfest, which is much more impressive, better prices and sound
@@Nightcrawl6 mostly the same program of Graspop and much farther away! The sound on Graspop has been bad once, due to weather conditions otherwise it's always been great!
@@mandalorianscum1138 I used to do both festivals by the time they were spaced from one week. Graspop is very impressive, but I'm sorry to tell you that Hellfest's set list is far more diversified. when you say the same program you're only looking at the lead bands on the mainstage. Trust me, what the Hellfest offers on its side stage is mind blowing. If Hellfest is today above Graspop it's mainly for that. If Graspop has moved it's schedule from the last week of June to the 2nd last week of june is because the bands ending their Spring tour just wouldn't bother to spend one more week in Europe until Graspop once they've been to Hellfest the week before. I feel sad for this, because the two festivals are pretty awesome, but because of this schedule shifting of Graspop, I can't do both festival anymore, and the years I used to do so, you could just pretty much watch all the bands you've missed in Hellfest, therefore prioritizing on the more specialized ones that wouldn't be touring outside Hellfest. if only Graspop could be 1 week before HF, I would gladly do both festivals once again!
@@MoreAwsomeMetal I'm sorry to tell you that before this year hellfest had almost the exact same program! This year hellfest is more suckfest!
@@mandalorianscum1138 you are out of your mind. Have you checked the line up under the Altar, Temple and Valley stages?
I would recommend smaller festivals in Finland like Tuska (in Helsinki, city festival), or Nummirock (in Kauhajoki, outdoor camping in woods, near a lake).
my favourite is Dynamo Metalfest Eindhoven and Into the Grave in Leeuwarden (both in the Netherlands). Both small festivals which adds to the charm for me. I used to go to Wacken alot but it gets too expensive for me.
It comes down to the line up for me, meaning every year another festival can be better. Last year Hellfest was much better than Wacken. We decided to go to Graspop this year.
This year's graspop is huge. I would go alone just to see gojira headlining, but tickets are ridiculously pricy.
Greatings from Poland all metalheads ! :)
witam
@@krzychuj8212 Hejka :)
All hail vader !!!
Can't wait for festival season !!
Brutal Assault
Y'all get all the awesome festivals in Europe I wish we could get some cool festivals in the states
Obscene Extreme (CZE)
Copenhell, Graspop, Dynamo, Into The Grave are the best ones for different reasons and sizes.
Brutal Assault, Metaldays & Ressurection Fest >
Tuska, Motocultor, Oscene Extreme, Bloodstock, Netherland Deathfest, PartySan...
Looking forward to Download Festival this year. It's where my profile picture was taken last year and this will be my 5th time going. 🤘
Dynamo Open Air in The Netherlands !!
Sweden Rock...
Wacken has been slacking recently with the lineups, and I’d honestly switch its position here with Hellfest.
Copenhell in denmark is also amazing, i look forward to it every year
I was in Germany from 73-03 and in 80 they had a Summer Nights festival that traveled around Europe, 7 bands in the show and it was mostly Rock & Metal . Than came The Monsters Of Rock I've been to 5 of those that I can remember of hand. But there where always good bands at those shows at least 7 per show and 5 where legit headliners.
There's a lot more very cool metalfestivals out there in Europe: Alcatraz (BE), Party.San (DE), Summer Breeze (DE) to name a few
Yes, for sure! Stay tuned for part 2! ;)
summer brezze, bähhh. worst sound and organisation of all
Brutal Assault, Motocultor, Roadburn
There is missing Brutal Assault
Sweden Rock, Tons of Rock, Fuji Rock, Masters of Rock, SummerBreaze, Rockstadt, MetalDays, Tuska, CopenHell...
My top 5 would be:
5. Dark Easter Metal Meeting
4. Masters of Rock
3. Trveheim
2. Metalheadz Open Air
1. Keep it True
For me the point of a festival is to see Bands you don't see otherwise and not the stuff that plays everywhere or the big names (which are better at a regular show than at a festival anyway).
For Extreme Metal...Party San! Greetings from Germany.
A metal festival best of without Obscene Extreme is not a best of.
I love Wacken, I have been there 3 times now. But what makes me wonder: With Hellfest having far more than 100000 people attending and Wacken "only" around 85000, why is Wacken called the biggest Metal Festival? Especially when junk like Die Höhner, Alligatoah and 257er are playing at Wacken, whereas such crap doesn't even get an invitation to e.g. Hellfest.
Oh and: since 2018 Wacken unofficially started on wednesday, and from 2023 onwards it officially starts on wednesday. And since the 2022 edition there are 9 stages, the tent that housed the W.E.T. and Headbanger stages has been removed and the 2 stages are now open air stages. But of course you could not know this when you made this video.
Bloodstock is a great Heavy Metal Festival not far from Donington in England A compact Festival its an enjoyable weekend and you don't have to walk miles to get anywhere Well worth a visit
European Metal Festivals are so much bigger than the ones in America so many people geeezzzzz
So Much BETTER Too!!! I've been coming to them since '04
first festival I ever went to is heavy montreal 2019🤘🏻😌 my next goals is deathfest at LA & norway metal festival
It's a smaller festival but, VOA Heavy Rock in Lisbon is a lot of fun.
I went to my first metal festival ( Copenhell ) and had an absolute blast 11/10 would recommend
alcatraz hard rock and metal festival in kortrijk, Belgium
Brutal Assault is one i have attended the 2019,2022 and now in 2023. Great line ups, not a huge festival but enough and compact. They still have better prices then the rest of Europe which makes a big difference. Lots of good food as well. I am very much satisfied with that festival.
You didn't even mention the best one: KEEP-OT-TRUE!
The best I've ever been to is Bloodstock, Furyfest (now Hellfest) and Dynamo.
Saludos desde Nicaragua
Copenhell in DK is also a banger
favorite festival so far? i would probably say its Metalfest in CZ. why? its just the right size, has just the right bands and the venue allows me to seat down and chill if i just want to check out a band i don't know. plus its quite affordable. having a kebab and a beer with a view of the stage didn't cost much more than they would if i had them at a street vendor at home. ive been to Metaldays many times but the lineup is getting worse and the festival is getting more and more expensive.
Summer breeze!!!!
Brutal Assault is the best festival in the world
See you in WACKEN 🤘🏻
Ye Banished Privateers 🏴☠️
where would you rank Nova Rock in comparison?
where the fuck is dynamo open air
Jij bent sowieso nederlander maat 😅🤟
GMM!!!
Number 1 is Brutal Assault
Yeah, this year was fuckn amazing again. :D
But I kind of like that it doesn't get mentioned too often - it keeps away the mainstream crowds.
why Europe love metal rocks compare to US?
Agreed
@@jasonpatrickdeleon4701cuz you listen gay rap
Why Tuska festival Helsinki finland?
Hellfest for sure🤟 Graspop is second place😊
why Europe love metal rocks compare to US?
@@jasonpatrickdeleon4701 it's part of our DNA
Wacken is the biggest but Finnish Tuska ( at least rank 4 ) is bigger than some Resurection or Grasspop... LOL
It’s about the best, not the biggest. Bigger doesn’t always mean better
Download is great if your a newbie but real experience is in Europe
Hellfest of course ;)
Download isn't a metal fest its light rock with some metal bands
Bloodstock in the UK is so much better than Download.
1313
graspop is so much better than wacken ,its not even comparable
Brutal assault >>>>>>> any of those
why Europe love metal rocks compare to US?
I prefer Bloodstock festival over Download in the UK. Its a smaller festival but better bands overall and better atmosphere
Wacken is neither the biggest nor the best metal festival. And a significant number of metal fans would not even call it metal festival anymore but during the last couple of years the organizers were trying to get rid off some of the party tourists. I have witnessed several different metal festivals and you hear a slight fear of things becoming wacken like surprisingly often (as in more commercially oriented, less metal oriented)
Underrated gems in Europe are for example: party san (the best German metal festival), in flammen, obscene extreme, brutal assault (which unforunately is at the same weekend as the party san) just to name a few
please slow down, ya know burn one, before speaking so you can be understood when making a video.
There is only one best. Brutal Assault.
Finland Best Metal Festivals Tuska Helsinki and Nummirock Nummijärvi
Number 1 is Sweden Rock. Wacken is dreadful. It used to be great festival but not anymore.
SRF used to be great(15 years ago) before Svennebanan decided to go there with a wig pretend that are metal while they rather be listening to Mix Megapol, Rix FM and other shit like that, which you can tell by being at the camp site. Livenations # 1 milk cow for people with some serious cash in their pockets and the worlds most expensive open air event.
Total shit!
no Sweden Rock
Number 1 is the Hellfest. Not Wacken. I am from Germany. And in the last year's wacken has not a goog line up. And for that what you get it's too expensive. Hellfest had a much better line up.
not only the lineup, the whole organisation/stage sound of Hellfest is way better than wacken
Last year's hellfest was honestly the best
Download is the worst festival, just corporate rip off, so expensive, crap facilities. I like Bloodstock
The big problem with Wacken is that you can very easily have shitty weather during the whole festival (like last year).
For me, Hellfest is #1.
Even tho my legs felt like they would fall off the last day.last years wacken was still a blast! You get what you put into it.
@@wimble39 I'm 55... when I was 35 I'd agree, now I'm a bit too old to spend four days swimming in knee deep mud ;)
Hellfest and Motocultor for me !
Switch ressurectionfest with brutal assault..... ressurectionfest is a poorly run shitshow. Great lineup great location but the festival organization is non existent 😅
Lame festivals...wacken becomes a hipster fest for the millenials...i wonder Keep It True were not mentioned here
Keep It True is the hipster metal fest. "Look at how cool I am for being into obscure NWOBHM and new wave of traditional heavy metal bands. I worship sword and sorcery, dwell in the metal archives, reject metal that's not true, and collect vinyl."
Download is disgraceful. They have police recognition software at the gates, the beer is a long queue at horrific prices, the campsites are a 30-60 minute walk from the gates, not even into the arena which is another 15 minutes, they also sold out metal for crappy other genre so called popstars. It is nothing like the old Monsters of Rock from 80's & 90's which yes I did attend. You should instead be championing Bloodstock. The only festival run by metal heads for the love of the music and they try to get bands covering every metal genre. Not these commercial sellout sanitised efforts that too many festivals have evolved into.
