Definitely agree and great example with differences with Catholicism and Protestant -I have seen this be an issue when it comes to children and the topic of baptism, confirmation etc. Also, if you are a Protestant and considering on dating a Catholic, which as you said can work, I consider really getting to know that person and their spiritual practices(theirs and their family which is how he/she was brought up). It's ashame, but I'm afraid that catholicism has been used as a sort of cover up or mask of religions that are of ocult practices that are culturally based. Not everything is what it seems at a glance, and as the Bible says, not everyone who says Lord, Lord will enter into heaven (Matthew 7:21). So, I say, whether be it Catholic or Protestant, research, observe, listen and pray...and pray, then pray again, before you bind yourself to that person (it's a challenge when your attracted but it's not worth the avoidable suffering ).

Rose Morales Good word. But that's a two way street. (I'm not Catholic, I'm a conservative evangelical) but growing up evangelical, I know many cradle Christians that claim to be evangelical Christians who use it as a mask... they're family is "Wesleyan" or "Baptist" but they haven't attended church for years.... or they really don't know the Gospel. We all need to be cautious.

I’m still confused about tier 2 differences. As protestant Christians, do we not consider the worship of saints and the Virgin Mary from Catholic Christians as idolatry? If this is so, then, how are we not unequally yoked in a relationship, whether that be dating or marriage? Because here, I could see a real possibility of missionary dating, which is very dangerous I feel and even selfish, which is scary to consider. I recently converted to protestant Christianity so many of my thoughts and ideas are still quite new, and I’m still making sense of much knowledge that comes my way in this new light.

    • @kvsartist8245
      @kvsartist8245 Рік тому +1

It definitely is idolatry and there is no way to reconcile it
Also, there is no such thing as missionary dating. The only fruit of that type of disobedience is heartbreak.

Hey Mark and everyone that's seeing this, currently i'm on the Catholicism and Protestant situation, me being the Protestant and her being the Catholic, to be honest, we connect on a lot of things, our personalities, tastes and etc. But mostly, I can see that she's a true Christian.
We've been friends for about 2/3 years, we graduated on highschool together and now we're going to college together ( not on the same one tough ), but when we were on the last year of the highschool I started to see her differently, but to be honest I never gave much attention since I didnt realize that. But now here I am on the first year of college realizing that and truthfully being like "oh no". But jokes aside I was ( still am ) taking this very, very, veryyyy cautious about this.
And for those on the same situation, praying to God and seeing His signals is the best way to truly know if it's His will or not. If it's His will then don't worry, eventually it will work out. It's hard to keep having faith while things looks like it won't work? Yes, and saying its hard won't be enough to describe. But it's also a way to not only be patient, but mostly to get closer with God.
Sorry for the big text, but I felt like I needed to write this here, God bless to everyone that read all of this.

I’m a nondenominational (closest to baptist) Protestant and I’m dating someone of the Eastern Orthodox Church. I think we’re really compatible in a lot of ways like personality, vision for the future and how important faith is for us. I am concerned about some of our differences in beliefs though, mostly the belief in transubstantiation, the inclusion of saints/Mary in prayer, I’m not entirely understanding why icons are important and what seems like an emphasis on tradition and church doctrine - the last bit not being a bad thing as long as it doesn’t trump your personal relationship with God and Bible.
I don’t know much about Eastern Orthodoxy, I’ve really only started to read about it a bit since I’ve been dating him. If there is anyone out there that could give be a bit of advice and maybe someone who knows more about orthodoxy and could share their understanding I would be very grateful!

Helpful video Mark, as always :) I'm currently in a interdenominational dating relationship, where I've been brought up in a Lutheran church, whereas she's more of the charismatic/pentecostal type. I would love to hear your thoughts on what I believe might be a 2-tier issue of ours. My girlfriend brought up verse 14 there, in 1 Cor 7, to argue *against* child baptism (as I've grown up with and been performed on) - and more in favor of a self-chosen baptism for when one is a bit older and can accept Jesus into ones life freely - since, as this verse shows in her opinion, "children are holy and don't need to be baptized."
No need to spend too much of your time replying to this, but any help or input is appreciated :)

I watched this video and I’m not sure if it helped, but here is my question. Can a Baptist date a person from International Christian Church.
Like I believe that water baptism doesn’t save you, while International Christian Church believes that being baptized is a process of salvation or a requirement. We both have different beliefs of process of salvation. For me, salvation is through the blood of JesusChrist and you don’t need baptism to be saved while baptism is an order or commandment. On the other hand, she believes that no it’s not just a commandment and it’s a way for washing of sins. To become new.

Baptists often seem to hold that kind of attitude, believe me, I am one(however I have broken out of that mindset, and currently attend an E-Free church[basically same beliefs, very minor differences])
Most baptists I know are very stubborn when it comes to their denomination, however if you can have a conversation where you methodically lay out what each of you believe, I bet you can show her that it's a difference in name, not theology. Besides, what will it hurt to listen to just one sermon from your church(especially if they are genuinely the same theologically), unless she is that insecure in her own denomination? For instance, while I disagree with Catholics on a lot, I still love to hear what the have to say, and it can shed light on my own beliefs as well. I still remain confident in my own beliefs despite hearing opposition.

"If you don't believe in the TRINITY, you're not a Christian"?
Which verse in the bible, book, chapter and verse mentions you have to believe in a TRINITY to be a Christian, ? LOL
From Genesis to Revelations, the God of the bible is one absolute LORD & KING. (Deut 6:4, Zech 14:9/ 1 Tim 1:17)
People often confuse the titles of Father, Son & Holy Ghost to mean 3 separate persons but the bible never refers to God as a trinity of persons inside it. The bible does talk about the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
These 3 titles are essential to understanding God's work of redemption.
God (YHWH) is our Father in parental relationship.
This God who is our Father is a Spirit being. (Jn 4:24).
As a Spirit, he alone is the Holy One of Israel. (Is.45:11)
Hence the Holy Ghost is our Father himself in his spiritual nature.
These 2 titles are not separate persons of a man-made trinity.
When man sinned, as a Spirit God needed to shed real blood for our atonement.
God became a man, (Is. 63:5)
the Spirit came in a human body,
the Word (God himself) was made flesh.
    The King became a servant,
The Lion came as a Lamb.
    & finally
the Father became a Son for our sakes (Is.9:6)
JESUS means "YHWH is our salvation".
JESUS is the Father eternally. (see Is. 45:21-24/ Zech 12:10/ Jn 14:9)
JESUS is the human sacrifice for our redemption as the SON.
JESUS is the Holy Ghost, "Christ in me the Hope of Glory".
Are there are 3 persons inside us? NO.
Jesus is in us through his own Spirit. (Rom 8:9)
What about "In the name of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost"? are these 3 names or ONE NAME?
    - It's the name of JESUS in Acts 2:38. Look at Acts 4:12, there's only one name under heaven for our salvation.
The TRINITY was a man-made concept from Pagan Rome to deceive God's children. You cannot serve more than one Master. Period!

    • @traceydumase
      @traceydumase 2 роки тому +3

You're actually answering yourself. Idk how others define the Holy Trinity. But it is a single entity identified into three. God The Father (who Jesus Christ is in constant communication with throughout His life on earth), Jesus Christ Himself, and The Holy Ghost (whom Jesus' said He left us with as He ascended to heaven). When you look at the trinity the purpose isn't to see them as seperate beings. The point is that they are one. One force with one purpose and having one will. It's God Himself, in 3 persons but still one being. I was so confused about the Holy Trinity for so long until I prayed over it and asked for clarity. And you're right, The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Christ which makes them one. Otherwise He could've just simply said "I am remaining behind as a Spirit". Biblical wording is so important because God is intentional. He wouldn't have anything included in the Bible that was a contradiction or that was meant to confuse. What God's word says is what it is. If Jesus says Him and the Father are one, they are one. If Jesus says He left us the Holy Spirit. He didn't say my spirit, he didn't say my father's spirit, but merely The Holy Spirit...the same Spirit of God that hovered the naked expanse of the world before creation..........then that is what it is. We use these three names interchangeably but we know what function each has. God is creator, Jesus is redeemer, Holy Spirit is guide and advocate BUT ALL ARE ONE. Anyway, if at all you're bothered to, pray over it and earnestly ask God to clarify that...He never turns us away when we seek His truth. I hope any of what I said makes sense 😅

Can you shed some light on what do you mean by "the 3 are one"
      One what ?
      Individual?

There's more to Christianity than believing in Jesus's death burial and Resurrection. Christians- followers of Christ, believers, saints, *saved. Christianity is also believing in Jesus Christ's blood sacrifice for to pay the debt, penalty, of sin. And since him being resurrected from the dead we are likewise freed from the power of sin with. Jesus had said on the cross, "it is finshed", and so death and sin is conquered by Jesus. Those who believe in that and the Lord Jesus is *saved. Jesus alone is the forgiver of sins. (1 John 1:9) Jesus is the way the truth and the life. no man can get to God the Father but by him. Romans 3:11; 3:23; 10:9-10; 5:8, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 11:6, John 14:6. Now When we pray, we need to pray to God (Philippians 4:6-7). And since Jesus is the way, that he's actually God, (John 1:1-3; 14) We should pray in his name. Beliefs against all this would be in tier one.
