Die erste Testfahrt im Jeep Cherokee XJ im Offroadpark Langenaltheim.
Ein paar Daten:
LS1 5,7 Liter V8 mit Fächerkrümmer aus einer Corvette C5,
TH400 HD Getriebe, Verteilergetriebe aus dem Dodge RAM.
Unimog Portal Achsen aus einem Unimog 404.
37 Zoll AS Reifen.
Gebaut von MatBad4X4.com in Passau.

Paul Schulz I wouldn’t go that far. I have a Cherokee, I love it but at the same time it’s a shitbox nonetheless. I wouldn’t dump this kind of $ into a shitbox, I’d just get something worth it like a Rubicon🤷🏼♂️ to each their own though I guess

Thank you. The idea came about when we stood in front of the jeep with a beer in hand. We considered how best the hot air from the engine compartment can. That became of it :)

J& K there is still enough here in Germany, but you have to convert it so that it fits in the jeep 👍

JEEPER GEAR yes it is wonderful, and no matter where you drive, you feel safe, the LS1 has enough power to give a boost even on extreme slopes, the TH400HD transmission with shifter hits the gears exactly, just a dream. the ground clearance of the portal axles is amazing

Portal axles are so amazing!!! those diff pumpkins are so high off the ground. So awesome. What transmission and transfer case is between the LS and the UNIMOG parts? Did you shorten UNIMOG axles or just use the portal knuckle? I am so amazed right now, you made the XJ better.

the axles were not shortened, but the diff on the front was moved to the right side so that the engine could be installed lower, a new flange was installed for the cardan shafts, the portals were rebuilt so that the 16 "disc brake system of a BMW fits on it Gearbox is a TH400HD with shiftkit, the transfer case was taken from a Dodge Ram, if you have more questions, I would be happy to answer them👍😁

Dodd Garger that was just a little test drive, in spring the first really big test comes where we want to see what the X-Mog is capable of😉😁👍
I just built a 4.6 with a mopar cam and the machine shop literally screwed up half the job damaged wrist pins and sent me out with a bent crank, only after replacing the crank with a scat did the wrist pins begin to get noisier, custom dished pistons too..
Now it seems to be oiling a little slow to certain lifters
LSX is getting more and more appealing but a 2jz/1jz will bolt up to the aw4 with minimal work too...
It is becoming more and more difficult to find a good workshop, hope you can get it done, if you tend to LSX I can send you photos, detailed photos
@@pacodiabolo oh man I told him not to hang the pistons, he did it anyway, he laughed when I said I was installing them with a torch
I can easily replace the pistons without pulling the whole engine just crazy to build 1 motor 3 times
Not paying $50k for a new jeep and don't want a 3.8 or 3.6 so 4.6 it is 😬
It's a beast compared to a stock 4.0 sooooo much more powahhh Jeremy Clarkson would approve my 20yr old jeep 👍
I figured while replacing the pistons I can pull the lifters and clean them and run the oil pump with the lifters out to flush the galleries oil pressure has never changed since the beginning so I believe it's good
I will certainly hit you up if I give up on the 4.6, my neighbor has a 5.3 in pieces right now actually 😎

Edit: Just got done watching your Hulk Green YJ video and that was what I saw landing
hard in the intro graphics not the XJ.... It just looks like something bent or came loose to me at the right front.😁

Are the axles from a U 406?
No, from a 404, the differential was welded to the right on the front axle so that the engine could be installed at a good depth👍👌😁

Why is it so loud?
M Barilla because the air filter is installed in the interior, the exhaust manifold without cathalysers and only two long mufflers serve as exhausts👍😂

ninoo612 die Reifengröße ist 300/70 R20 alte Größe 9,5 R20, entspricht einem 37“ reifen, die Marke hab ich grad nicht im Kopf, wenn’s wichtig ist kann ich später mal schauen 👍

Für en ersten vorsichtigen Test geht der doch super, zwei Berge waren dabei wo normale off-roader Schwung brauchen da sie sonst nicht hochkommen, eine der Verschränkungen packt en normaler off-roader nicht, mussten da bisher alle durchziehen, Hammer Teil, Motor geht super 👍, könnt alles im Halbgas fahren, aber macht mehr Spaß mit power 👍👍
