Just decided that futures trading is the most scalable, high income skill that I could ever learn in my life. I’m only 25 and honestly this UA-cam video has given me hope that I will one day do this for a living. Start small, manage risk, embrace patience, and accept there will be losing trades (just be sure they are calculated and minimal). Thank you Don foreal. Could you possibly do a video exposing the tax advantages of trading futures?
Hello Blu. So glad you found some useful things here on the channel and welcome to you. When it comes to the tax advantages, there is a break but I will just stay in my lane here and not give any tax advice on the channel. I of course wish you well. I am working on an option video course to be out in early 2024, so stay tuned for that. I will introduce it here on the channel; it's a good fit for the investment profile of many of the people here. Hello Byron and welcome to the channel. I urge everybody who comes to the channel to see this video, it details the two biggest mistakes in Micro E-Mini trading. A great many people new to this trading come here thinking there is some 'formula' they can find to eliminate risk, emotions, creativity, and caution. This is risky, highly leveraged (great bang for the buck, often 50 to one and higher) - and looks deceptively easy. It takes a learning curve, considerable work and study, and you'll need to hone the art of patience to learn good trade selection. Be sure to practice trade well before you risk your money. I suggest trading MNQ and MES Micros; respectively the NASDAQ100 and S&P500 micros and only ONE contract. *The thing to do is not risk a great unrealized gain... the odds of it doubling again in two minutes are less than 1/6. Hey Don, Thanks for the refresher scalping video link. These trades come at you all at once. Besides using a prudent tight stop these little reversals to the trend are short-lived and not a place to 'play with house money'. I need to try more of these scalping trades. Enjoy your Sunday.
Hey Bill. Good to hear from you. Yes they can be fun and the losses are small enough they don't take the fun out of it - and then sometimes you just get real lucky and that 'small' gain becomes much larger than one expects. Stay well. Talk w/u soon
Welcome to the channel. Some of the links below will be helpful. I recommend an account of $2.5 to $5k to start. Do you trade using the downloadable app, that you install on you computer, or do you Trade using just a web browser. I see that Tasty Trade and others offer a web based service as well as a downloadable app. I ask because I don't have Windows or Mac, but I'm a little skeptical that all the features are available when using a web browser. For example, if just using a web browser, I may not be able to get my screen to show the MACD like you have shown (actually I think I just answered my own question, but if you would still reply). Thanks in advance.
You are correct. I use the Desktop TastyTrade platform. TT's web and mobile apps IMHO are very good but may not have what you seek. For info on the TT web browser, check out this link that will allow you to see the Desktop, Web Browser, and Mobil descriptions: tastytrade.com/technology/ For more assistance, you can check out their website from the link I just listed, or phone them at (888) 247-1963 Good luck to you - Don
It varies from broker to broker. Starting out with just a few hundred dollars is very difficult but can be done. This is probably the most FAQ I get, so I have the answer I give on file and here it is (see below). Thank you for your question and the best of luck to you. Thank you for your videos. would you point me to video (if it exists on damage control). 1: Is $20 enough risk/room for stop loss with micro NQ? 2: is this also a safe risk for trailing stop for globex?
There is no fixed math formula for success. Welcome to the channel please look around. As you will see in the videos, I never use trailing stops nor do I suggest one fixed amount for a stop loss. This is risky trading and one should practice trade before going live. I am currently writing and producing a short video course on option trading for all account sizes, defined risk, high prob. of profit. A lot of people can't always attend the screen type trading due to work/time restraints. Plus, as I always say this Micro trading is riskly stuff, terribly fun for sure but not for everyone. It is flattering when I'm a little late putting up a new video and people think I died or something. 🤞I guess it would be nice to be missed but hey, I'm still kicking man. 😎 As soon as I finish the new option course, I'll get back on the weekly schedule again for new videos 💻 - first of the '24 year is the plan. Thank you and good luck.- Don
Well I didn’t think you died! But we’re about the same age, so, you know…😂. That’s fantastic news about an options course. I’ll be one of the first on board! Stay well!
Hi Don, i got approved on Tasty trade, but still need to fund the account. To do the kind of trading you do, trading the minis, what would you suggest or what do most people start out with? Thanks
Tasty requires $2,500 for the lower intraday margin rates... tell them you want 'the works' type of account and you'll be able to trade futures, stocks, options, crypto.... every thing. If you can make the $2,500 you can wait to fund, or go to a broker with no minimums to meet. There's many good ones around. Here's a pre-written note to help people shop brokers: These notes might help you in choosing a broker. Thank you- Don I do have a short Playlist that will setup TastyTrade with the same colors and settings I use in all the videos on the channel at this link and also on using the Bracket/OCO order entry: bit.ly/BracketScreenSetup Greetings: re: Which Broker? I chose TastyTrade to recommend. Here's why: I use an affiliate link for TastyTrade (*formerly TastyWorks.) *How to Start:* Just fill out the account application at this link bit.ly/TastyBonus Here is the BROKER info. Some points good to know, no matter where you open your account: A little over 4 years ago, I started the Micro E-Mini UA-cam channel. My very next decision was to choose to recommend a broker. I chose TastyTrade/TastyWorks here on the channel since one can trade from one page and slide your order prices up/down with a mouse on the chart screen (so everything is literally one page and easy to manage.) I did realize that a majority of viewers to the channel were likely new to futures trading, often to 'day trading', and that a great many new traders are not schooled in 'how to shop' a broker to use. The array of brokers and types of investing have evolved very fast, particularly in the last five years. For example, all the major brokers do 'zero commission' stock trading. Most people new at it will often shop for the very lowest commission rate. I can tell you virtually all brokers put forth a sort of 'half-truth' when using their low commission rates in advertising. Something, they ALL do. All the brokers have to add 'an exchange fee' and also often 'a transaction fee.' Virtually all brokers have 'free software' but some of the brokers, after signing up new customers will offer an 'enhanced' for 'full features' version of their software for a small additional price. There are two other major 'add ons' that newbies might not see coming: a 'data fee' to pay for quote services (usually $15 to $25 a month)--- and the one that is the 'biggest surprise' is often call a 'wire fee' to transfer money in/out of the customers bank account. Wire fees are often free to fund the account but $30 per transaction to take money OUT of one's bank account. New traders of course won't know to ask about these things (now YOU do if you didn't already.) For traders with no experience trading 'futures,' it can be confusing due to the new terms that are very different from simply 'stock trading.' Here's an interesting fact I took into consideration when selecting a broker: Only 3 of each 100 stock traders, trade options. Only one in ten option traders also trade futures. So you see, for most of the people learning to trade the Micro E-Minis, they are learning about 'trading futures' for the first time. Most people new to futures trading are also trying 'day trading' for the first time. As you have already discovered (I suspect)-- Trading Futures is quite different than stock trading. Futures use a totally different system of leveraging from stocks. Futures are more risky. And not surprisingly-- almost all new futures traders by default will assume trading futures will be a 'add on' to what they know about stock trading. This isn't true. Futures are an entirely different product. The PDR known as 'the pattern day trading rule' (applies to stock trading, but NOT to futures trading.) PDR: According to FINRA rules, you're considered a pattern day trader if you execute four or more "day trades" within five business days. What happens if you break the pattern day trader rule? So what happens if you break the PDT rule? Your account is subject to a margin call. You'll need to deposit enough cash to get your account over the $25K limit. If you don't, your account will be restricted for 90 days. So when you trade futures, the PDR does NOT apply; you can trade as often as you like. And the profits you make are immediately available in your account (no delays at all.) There is another major difference in trading futures than stocks: When you sell a stock, the funds you receive until 'settlement' of the trade two or three days AFTER your trade your proceeds are credited to your account. In trading futures, the minute you close a trade, you money is IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE for another trade. There is not waiting period at all. One of the most FAQ's I get is 'which broker' and 'how much to fund the account.' It varies from broker to broker. I suggest $3k to $5k if you can. If you are considering TastyTrade, please use my affiliate link. That affiliate link and book sales are how I support this channel with over 165+ free videos. *How to Start:* Just fill out the account application at this link bit.ly/TastyBonus For account type select "The Works" (required initial deposit of $2500) - and you will have an account for trading the Micros.
Stay well. Talk w/u soon
how much is one micro worth? and can i start trading mnq with just 300 dollars or less? very new to all this lol
Welcome to the channel. Some of the links below will be helpful.
I recommend an account of $2.5 to $5k to start. You can start with less at some brokers - but it is really tough to start with just a few hundred because if you have a few losing trades, you have to stop until you make another deposit. Something in the $2.5k to $5k range is a good starting amount and is a better experience.
Checkout the beginner's playlist links below.
Good luck to you- Don

For info on the TT web browser, check out this link that will allow you to see the Desktop, Web Browser, and Mobil descriptions: tastytrade.com/technology/

Hey Mr.Don . How much do I need to have in my account to trade this micro future? Thanks I just started watching yours videos
It varies from broker to broker. Starting out with just a few hundred dollars is very difficult but can be done. This is probably the most FAQ I get, so I have the answer I give on file and here it is (see below). Thank you for your question and the best of luck to you. Welcome to the channel. - Don

*How to Start:* Just fill out the account application at this link bit.ly/TW-Link *No deposit or credit card required - and you do not have to fund your account until you are ready.* PLUS, even though you cannot trade until you fund, you can still operate the software and check it out. I think you'll like it. For account type select "The Works" - and you will have an account for trading the Micros. When your application is approved: Just fund your account whenever you are ready to begin trading real time and you'll be good to go.
A COMMENT: You can start with less at some of the other brokers - but it is really tough to start with just a few hundred because if you have a few losing trades, you have to stop until you make another deposit. Something in the $3k to $5k range is a good starting amount and is a better experience.

Welcome to the channel - Don
Thank you for your videos. would you point me to video (if it exists on damage control). 1: Is $20 enough risk/room for stop loss with micro NQ? 2: is this also a safe risk for trailing stop for globex?
There is no fixed math formula for success. Welcome to the channel please look around. As you will see in the videos, I never use trailing stops nor do I suggest one fixed amount for a stop loss. This is risky trading and one should practice trade before going live. Some of these links might help:

I risk 20 ticks, if you place a stop limit to close, the market manipulation will stop you out
Thanks Don always nice and very useful video.
I'm about to open the account and wondering if the paper acc offer live market data ?
Cheers
The free trade simulator link I use is at the CME exchange website, no ads, no credit cards required. The quotes there are 5 minutes delayed I think. For practice that makes no difference.
I am a TastyTrade affiliate and receive a small compensation when my link is used to sign up there. Here is some pre-written info on brokers, etc.
However you decide to practice, remember to trade in the same dollar amounts you will use in your live account (otherwise you will wind up practicing not the same as you'll be trading.)
Good luck to you- Don

Thank you Don! I always wonder if you’re ok when we haven’t seen you for a while! I always appreciate your content.
Stay well!
@@traderkj Karen, ha! sorry, just my strange sense of humor. I am very happy to hear from you anytime. All best to you and yours and thank you - Don
Great advice sir, take profits when you have them because the market will take them back plus more!!
Yes, sir you got that right. a 'bird in hand' and all that. thank you good to hear from you- Don
Thank you for your videos!!
My pleasure! Thank you Mr. Smith and all best to you and yours. Good luck - Don
Here's a pre-written note to help people shop brokers:
These notes might help you in choosing a broker. Thank you- Don
I do have a short Playlist that will setup TastyTrade with the same colors and settings I use in all the videos on the channel at this link and also on using the Bracket/OCO order entry: bit.ly/BracketScreenSetup
Greetings:
re: Which Broker? I chose TastyTrade to recommend. Here's why:
I use an affiliate link for TastyTrade (*formerly TastyWorks.) *How to Start:* Just fill out the account application at this link bit.ly/TastyBonus
Here is the BROKER info. Some points good to know, no matter where you open your account:
A little over 4 years ago, I started the Micro E-Mini UA-cam channel.
New traders of course won't know to ask about these things (now YOU do if you didn't already.)
For traders with no experience trading 'futures,' it can be confusing due to the new terms that are very different from simply 'stock trading.' Here's an interesting fact I took into consideration when selecting a broker: Only 3 of each 100 stock traders, trade options. The PDR known as 'the pattern day trading rule' (applies to stock trading, but NOT to futures trading.)
PDR: According to FINRA rules, you're considered a pattern day trader if you execute four or more "day trades" within five business days.
And the profits you make are immediately available in your account (no delays at all.)
There is another major difference in trading futures than stocks: When you sell a stock, the funds you receive until 'settlement' of the trade two or three days AFTER your trade your proceeds are credited to your account. In trading futures, the minute you close a trade, you money is IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE for another trade. There is not waiting period at all.
One of the most FAQ's I get is 'which broker' and 'how much to fund the account.'
It varies from broker to broker. I suggest $3k to $5k if you can.
If you are considering TastyTrade, please use my affiliate link. That affiliate link and book sales are how I support this channel with over 165+ free videos.

You‘re doing great content, thanks a lot for that insight in trading futures.
My pleasure. Thank you and please know I appreciate you saying so.
I love your videos. I mostly trade stocks, options, and crypto but am wanting to eventually try futures. But for now I am really enjoying your content
Hi Jasmine. Thanks and good luck to you. I'm coming out with a video course on defined risk stock option before the end of year. All high prob of profit, for all account sizes- and it won't require a lot of screen time like th emicros. I think a lot of people here on the channel will welcome that. They are limited risk credit spreads. Thanks, glad to hear from you anytime. boodl luck to you- Don
Hi again Don, do you ever do live trades where we can actually see your trade?
No, I do not run a live discord or forum.
FAT TONY 😅
Hey Paul. Enjoy your weekend old boy. Cheers.
You gonna to look a more younger. Live long and teach us more mr.Don
Thanks. That gave me a grin. When I was about 12 years old and surrounded during the holidays by all the 'old people' while I ate at the gathering's childs table, I often wondered how all these hold people could be so cheerful; I mean, don't they know they are alll about to die! Well, now I know. thanks and cheers. -Don 😁👍
How nice.. Then as long as you keep smiling, may your life be prolonged. We need you. We still have a lot to learn from you. Thank you, beautiful person Mr.Don we love you 😊 👏
