How fun! Thanks for the demo. Useful to know which hydrangea species can change color. Another plant I noticed that can change color from one bloom time to the next was a rose verbena in a rich blue shade💙. After the first flush of flowers I removed all the spent blooms and gave it coffee grounds. A while later I was rewarded with dark purple flowers. I checked on the internet but I couldn’t find that anyone else had observed this. 💜
I'm amazed that one application of aluminum made your hydrangeas blue. I was thinking I made progress, when my blue one was more white than pink after one application! (Normally, in my soil, the bluest of hydrangeas are pink the following year, if I don't add anything). This year I added, but in the Spring. (I add Mother's Day and Father's Day with Color-Me-Blue and organic hydrangea fertilizer.) It's what we have in Denmark. Mine are about to bloom!! I also bought some Nico blues, but they are still in pots just yet. Thanks for a great video! Love the lilies too!
On Nantucket where the hydrangea grows beautifully....they use galvanized nails! 😀 It was discovered years ago after folks realised it was simply roofing nails.! Great video! 🙏❤
Thank you! The nursery employee told me she couldn’t get hers to change colors and not to be disappointed. Now I’m wondering if she had the right type of hydrangeas! I’m going to want those heavenly iris’s now too!! And I love the Feverfew also!!!
Great job. Thanks for the info. On my morning walk, I pass several of the mophead varieties that also have mixed-color blooms. It *is* odd, huh? And there's one lacecap variety that is looking just perfect this week.
My mom put pennies in the soil an hers were blue, that was 50 yrs ago. I could swear the new Hydrangea I planted last yr had a blue bloom, it's blooming pink this yr., I put some pennies around it so I'll have to let ya know what happens, guessing that may be next yr.? I so adore those tall lilies, I had some yrs ago but they didn't come back after a couple yrs.
great video! not sure if you get snow in your area but do you winterize your hydrangeas? some videos I've seen recommend using mulch but I wondered if that would cause the hydrangeas to dryrot being covered with mulch?
Thank you! The vegetable garden is a bust this year. Gah! We had a terrible spring! I am just now starting to get zucchinis and tomatoes. Had a nice strawberry crop tho.
How? I’m using same thing and mine never changed color. When I bought blue enchantress it was blue but turned completely pink. So I used epsoma soil acidifier for 2 years and nothing happened.
Hi I bought a hydrenia tree early blue but after I planted it looks dead and its already been like 5 days and still like dead I dont know if I did anything wrong when I planted, I used holly tone organic fertilizer

They...what? Drive nails into the soil? Hunh? Doesn't that seem like a gardening hazard?
@@Bamboo4U2 The old way before the soil ammendment was to just toss a few nails under the plant. The landscapers will remove at end of season. 😊
@Hidden Harvest Grow Lights Thank you! that's so interesting. Nantucket hydrangeas are amazing!
@@greatgardensforall 😀🙏
Jake Jones I grow all my vegan and herbs in pots. I put a galvanised nail coated in all the pots. Plants need iron and other minerals too

Are they blue
@@NickPopGamezAndTutorials they haven't bloomed yet this yr., I'm not sure how many pennies she used, so I may need to add more.
@@itsmewende so did they end up being blue?:)
@@liveinlakewoodranch they didn't, guess I should add a few more cents =^)

Great instructions. Thank you sharing. How is your vegetable garden doing so far?

@@greatgardensforall glad to hear that you got strawberries. Is this usually when you start to get tomatoes?

Give it lots of water and don't give up just yet 😊
easy to none on the fertilizer, let it grow some roots and get stabilized
