    Great accurate assessment of a great product Joe! Definitely must have Weber enhancement. I've had mine about a year, Webers for 30+ and love the Craycort cast iron! Craycort even makes "mirror" grill inserts so the grill inserts maintain same lines, yes I have those too. BTW your Midnight Expresso is amazing, also suggested by Greg at BBBQ.

    Hey Joe!…. awesome review for the Ballistic Griddle. Greg has a winner with this. At a 1/4" thick….that thing is heavy metal for sure. The thing about Stainless Steel is,… it gets hot and holds heat!
    I like Your setup with the fire bricks! You Rock!….. Keeping it Metal!!!! \m/ \m/

      +Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que Rock On!
      You are right about the Ballistic Griddle being a piece of heavy metal - damn sturdy.
      The fire brick works great with this, keeps the coals in place, holds the heat and when the oil drips on it there are no flare ups. The first time I did not use them and did have a little flare up.
      Have a super weekend dude!

      Indeed, this is a unit that should be part of everyone's gear. The BallisticGriddle will sit on the standard grill when the bars run left to right so the tab in the back sits down. It is heavy enough so it will not move around. Of course, it is designed for the Craycort cast iron, where it fits like a glove.
      Thanks for watching man.

    How do u remove the griddle when ur done using it, u can't lift it right off it would be too hot. How can I remove it and not get burned

    • @tangojoe9694
      @tangojoe9694  7 років тому

      When the griddle is hot, you can rotate the entire cast iron part and the griddle cools off in the opposite side.
      You can also lift if off with a heavy pair of gloves. I keep some welding gloves around for moving hot BBQ items.

    I LIKE IT! I noticed about the oil moving over clearing the edge.... I wonder if a 2.0 version, if would be worth it to have just a slight lip at the center edge running across so it can keep things like the oil out of the fire and causing an unexpected flair up.
    On the other hand..... flair ups happen anyway! :D

    • @tangojoe9694
      @tangojoe9694  8 років тому +1

      +GRUBDUDE Hey GrubDude, thanks for stopping by.
      Cool idea about a perhaps a 'drain' of sorts, though I did manage to take care of any flare up problems by using the fire bricks to hold the charcoal bed under the Ballistic Griddle. Any oil that flowed over the front edge hit the bricks and vaporized.

    • @BallisticBBQ
      @BallisticBBQ 8 років тому +1

      +GRUBDUDE I usually keep the bulk of the charcoal against the inner wall of the kettle. The griddle really soaks up the heat so that's all you really need. If oil drips off of the front edge, there is nothing there to ignite it. The tolerances are so tight on the back (curved) side, it isn't an issue at all.

    Anyone know where this thing is made, China, USA, Canada?

      Craycort is based in Germany, though the griddle is farmed out to China.
      Cooked up more griddle burgers this weekend, perfect crust.

    Hey man, do you put the griddle on WITHOUT the Craycort sections under it or just leave em in place?

      Greetings! Thank you for stopping by.
      The Ballistic Griddle fits in the Craycort after you remove the two inserts.
      Still cooking with this, always a great burger.

      Yes indeed, it's a 24X65 cabinet model.

    How do you clean it ????

    • @tangojoe9694
      @tangojoe9694  8 років тому

      After cooking on it I just scrape with a spatula.
      A couple of times I have hit it with steel wool. Seasons up like a regular griddle nicely.
      Thank you for watching.

      Why not just get a piece of stainless steel metal and place it on your bbq.

      +White Thunder BBQ Hey Nate, thanks for taking a look.
      Since this is the first griddle I have owned, all I can say is it is great to start off with one that is so well made.
      Sizzle On!

      +Tango Joe yeah looks much nicer (thicker) than the ones I have. you're going to have to get yourself some egg rings or better yet pepper rings to cook the eggs in!

    • @tangojoe9694
      @tangojoe9694  8 років тому

      +White Thunder BBQ Indeed, this Ballistic Griddle is very heavy duty.
      I hear you on the rings. I have a video up using the pepper rings too, very tasty.

    Too hot for eggs.

      You can use less coals, or have the coals under one half to control the heat to fry eggs.
      We have done breakfast on this, bacon, eggs and matchstick home fries. Nothing like frying bacon outside to wake the neighbors.
      Thank you for watching, and for leaving a comment. Have a great weekend.

    Christ!! Everything cooked on a griddle looks so greasy. All the demos are focusing on the most unhealthy food. The fact is this thing can be used to cook veggies, etc.

      Greetings Renee, thank you very much for taking the time to watch this video and leave a comment about how you feel.
      No need to call me Christ, I am just a regular guy who enjoys burgers.
      Yes, it is a fact that the Ballistic Griddle can be used to cook vegetables, which we do quite often, and does a darn fine job too.
      The Ballistic Griddle is also great for cooking flapjacks, eggs, fried rice, grilled cheese sandwiches, spicy shrimp, hash brown potatoes, quesadillas, toad in the hole, welsh cakes, tamagoyaki, polenta cakes, scallops, griddled halloumi, crepes, lefse, carne asada, fried corn, naan bread, fritters, mofongo.
      As you can see, a griddle is one versatile cooking utensil.
      Have a wonderful & well seasoned 2020!
