Not having mix busses is a huge mistake, this is a tracking console and a summing mixer at the most. Very limited mixing capabilities. I wonder if, for mixdown, the DAW returns would need to be physically patched to the line inputs every time, since they're likely to be normaled to the simple inputs! It's a beautiful piece of gear without a doubt and I'm sure its circuitry sounds superb, but the lack of flexibility is a real drawn back. I'd be much more inclined to buy this instead of a genesys if it wasn't for the lack of flexibility.

the console shown in the video is the 10 channel bcm-10 costing around 56k. for 130k you would be able to get the 32 channel version.. I think especially the smaller versions are mainly used as sidecars for tracking with 1073 in addition to a bigger console that usually features automation (while tracking you wouldn't need it anyways) on top of that the bcm-10 is a reissue of an old console bearing the same name that didn't feature automation or any advanced control for that matter and I am pretty sure they tried to keep the spirit designing the new one. so asking why this console doesn't have automation kind of feels like asking why the 1073 eq only has three bands. you can get automation from Neve, as can you get a 4 band eq. within this console, its intended use and the legacy its triyng to fulfill it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me why anyone would need these features in there though. just get a genesis or 5088 if your want Neve and automation :)
@@benediktmeyer4328 I Love how you apologist try to defend the indefensible. I disagree they could’ve kept “the same spirit” (as you put it) but improve upon it by adding automation. Doesn’t make any sense to me why anyone would pay a small fortune for something like this without that feature.
This is a TRACKING console, as the BCM series always has been. It has never been intended to be a mixing console. This is what allows it to be such a capable tracking console while remaining portable.
