- Bal-Sagoth play Obsidian Crown at Liverpool's The Masque on 8th July 2011.
Unfortunately, Byron was off sick with a throat infection for both shows so their good friend Tarkan from Extreme Maggot Infestation was wheeled in at the last minute for Liverpool. Although opinion on how both shows were cobbled together in his absence will vary strongly, I personally had a fantastic time at both shows. I would have filmed more but I just wanted to enjoy myself so I captured just a minute for posterity.
@Thringorr Aye, wish I'd filmed a better moment. Considering the circumstances and the nature of the lyrics, you did a great job.
It does leave me wondering what's in store for the future given the air of finality the run-up to these shows had.
cool, that guy looks like a Native American brave or something! :D But yea, he didnt seem to know the words either. :(
well at least the sounds a bit better than it was at London. But this still sounds shite. :(
looks like this venue was better than the purple turtle the night before, at least.
@Asmodeus8797 My camera has some kind of compression to prevent it distorting. As for vocals, I agree with everyone that it was frustrating without Byron because nobody readily available knows all the lyrics (the two guys that would know the lyrics most were at other gigs/festivals) and it detracts from the moments where the lyrics are key when they're just screamed over. Given the fun I had I'd rather they did this than not play.
@NeglectedField I know what you mean, man.
There were a few tracks I wasn't that familiar with - this being one of them, unfortunately. Credit to Bal-Sagoth to forging ahead regardless and giving the fans at least some of a show. I was just grateful to help out.
The native american thing was accidental btw
