Well before my time but fascinating to watch. The Yugoslavs look like they had the more skillful, tricky, technical players and stroked it around beautifully. They look weak defensively and England did their best work on the counter. Nice to see a bit of wizardry from Rodney Marsh as I've wondered what he was like.

yugoslavia played the pressing game which was alien then, plus Gordon Banks no longer played for England due to his right eye loss.

@@mohdazmi10Banksy left the game that year a winner though as Stoke City beat Chelsea 2-1 in the League Cup Final. Happy days!

Interesting to note the quality of the pitch. Nowadays they play on a carpet every week, but back then playing on a surtace that good must have been a rare treat for the players.

I never thought Channon was International standard - Dzajic what a player and what a place for him to top the Yugoslavia caps record .

Mike scored 21 goals in 46 games which was a pretty good return, considering he played a lot of that time in the second division.

      Questions:
Osgood Marsh Bowles did what for England?
Keegan did what for England while he was at Liverpool?
      Facts:
Channon was the First Division Leading scorer in 1973-74 with Southampton getting relegated.
Channon's goals ratio for England was better than Malcolm Macdonald or Francis Lee, or John Richards, or Tony Brown, or Kevin Hector, better than Kevin Keegan, better than Mike Summerbee, better than Joe Royle, better than Rodney Marsh, better than Stan Bowls, better than Peter Osgood.
Of the players you have listed, only Allan Clarke had a better scoring ratio for England.
      Opinion:
Channon always put a shift in for England.
Osgood, Marsh, and Bowles had to win the game for you, otherwise they were a liability.

It's sad seeing this from Serbia. NT 50y ago played way better and entertaining football than now. Dzajic had such control of his body with fakes putting opponent out of position...very few players in today's era of industrial football have that kind of skill. Now it's all repetition, strength, speed and just running.
What cost Yugoslavia in this game was stupid undisciplined short passes in its penalty area by CBs and just bad lost possessions by DCM. Fullbacks and wingers top class, defense trash. I think manager of NT at this time was young Vujadin Boskov, who later had a lot of success in Netherlands and Italy. Also, LB who the commentator praises is Dragoslav Stepanovic who had success as a coach in Bundesliga in the 90s.
Not having a disciplined defense and world class finisher (I have no clue why Skoblar never played for NT at that time, he was golden boot one year in the early 70s) cost this generation not winning something.
